Kenny Rogers was one of the most talented male artists of any genre. His catalog is unbelievable. If you have not reacted to his live version of "Lady" you are missing out!
I first saw him in a rock band called The First Edition. They had a hit called “Just Walked in to See What Condition My Condition Was In”. Good song.

Couldn't sleep and was up for a few hours at three times during the night. When I got to sleep, my dream was that I was arguing with someone telling them I couldn't dream because I couldn't sleep. Probably one of my weirder dreams. No bar needed here.
@@susansapp6136 I had one of those , what I call frustration dreams. No matter what you say or do you can’t convince anyone of achieve anything. Try some melatonin to help you go to sleep, and take Magnesium Glycinate to help you sleep through the night. It has helped me.

IMO, This live performance version of the song is the best version even though it is live. The music & arrangement are really outstanding as well. Furthermore, his voice has a unique ability to get inside you and move you, making all of his live music better than pre recorded music.
It's true, Kenny found commercial success later on in his career. Lucky for the world, he stuck with it.

Kenny Rogers has sung many different styles over the years. Starting in the 1950’s with local bands, the 60’s group the New Christy Minstrels, then the First Edition. His solo career has dwarfed his previous successes.

Kenny Rogers had a long career. He had a regional hit in 1958 at age 17. He played jazz with Bobby Doyle. Folk with The New Christie Minstrels. Then was in a group called The First Edition. It was a very eclectic band. When the band broke up ,he had nothing to his name. He almost quit the business. Finally, he broke into country music. He was one of the first artist to crossover from country to pop and have a song chart on the pop and country charts at the same time.

'Love Will Turn You Around' ...it's from the movie Six Pack (1982) that Kenny stars in, as well! He plays a race car driver who is blindsided by 6 orphan siblings! It's a great movie!!! He was such a great actor. My favorite song will always be 'Lady' ...It was the first dance at my wedding. My husband sings it to me but changes Lady to my name, Katy! We'll be married 30 years in April! Just love Kenny's voice so much!
