Yo waddup, Disaster Report 4 expert here, landing here and causing a massive framerate drop on your RTX card, eyoooo!
Having platinumed the game on ps4 and then some on PC (because I'm probably brain damaged), I can safely say that the dialogue options have some minor impact on the game. Mainly what happens is changed dialogue/new dialogue and or a new little scene. You are correct in saying that the game still plays out the same major scenes and aside from the ending path, you really can't affect much. The gender choice also affects things I believe. I noticed on my 3rd playthrough with a guy how they added that drape in the bedroom scene so the girl could have some privacy. Such an oddly specific thing to add.
The scenes that do change/appear require really specific choices which you can't even begin to guess on your first playthrough. Such scenes are incredibly amusing in that weird disaster report way and some of it feels like stuff that was 25% implemented and then they forgot all about it as the game went on.
The DLC stuff however is a mystery, it feels like they assume you chose certain things and will not allow for anything different to happen. At least there's that fighting sequence. A truly bizarre, inappropriate and just plain bad in its implementation, wouldn't have it any other way in this case.
Anyways, I have a feeling that some of the choice stuff was meant to be expanded upon, but they didn't due to time/money/whatever which also then raises the question "How did they even have the money to create this in the first place". Partially it just feels like you can have options for "roleplaying", by them gods I don't know who would do that with this game. It's amazing when it works out, when you get something fun out of a weird pick, but its damn dissapointing when it doesnt work which is most of the time.
Granzella, the weird music/game/manga...something studio is a special thing and needs to be treasured. I don't know whats up with them, part of it feels almost shady, but I have this weird affection for the whole studio and the way DR4 almost mirrors the entirety of the company. A weird mishmash of random ideas that they can't implement properly, but goddamn do they try.
Thanks for reading my blog, lemme just fly outta here and return your framerate to normal, but not before a completely unrelated dust cloud made of floating PNG's kills your frames again, somehow! OUT!

This series is exactly my kind of weird and obscure. Played 4 when it released and then went back to 1 and 2.

" maybe it's lucky I have a few screws loose, because I'd play it again." Oddly sums up my verdict lol
