    After Evil Dead Trap you share the status of my favorite horror movie channels! The process of watching these channels go like this:
    -I See review of movie I haven't watch
    -I go watch the movie
    -I come back for the review after watching the movie.
    I'll be back in 90 mins!

    That must have been so funny hearing David Warner say "See you next Tuesday".

    I'm glad David Warner gets a lot of shoutouts now from youtube reviewers. The man was such a treasure. I feel like he was on par with Peter Cushing, but maybe was just missing a Star Wars or a Frankenstein on his resume. He was a lovely dude.
    Great review as always, love you guys.

      @scottneil1187 ปีที่แล้ว

      He did have a Frankenstein on his resume, the 1984 tv movie simply named Frankenstein, he played the creature, Robert Powell played Frankenstein, coincidentally Carrie Fisher was also in it!.

    • @scottneil1187
      @scottneil1187 ปีที่แล้ว

      Forgot to say, he may not have been in the films but he played a character in a game, Star Wars Force Commander, he did have a major memorable role in Star Trek too, so he at least did one of the big sci-fi vehicles.

      @@scottneil11873 roles in Star Trek. I think of him as a fairly big name. I think Brits might know him better.

    I have probably said this before but just in case I haven't, I love when you guys talk about your history with a film. Be it when you first watched it or simply just remembering how the VHS cover made you feel when you were kids, it takes the listener/viewer on a journey with you and gives us a personal perspective

    Watched this for the first time a few months back. Always been a big fan of Neil Jordan's Interview. Discovered "Byzantium" (underrated, the cave scenes are a full experience) which led me to this. It's definitely one of the better Werewolf movies I have seen. Not up there with Late Phases or Bad Moon, but not far behind. I honestly might even give it to this one over An American Werewolf In London. It has that fever dream quality to it I'm such a sucker for.

    If anyone is jonesing for more werewolf action I can highly recommend a recent little known British film called Howl, it's banging. Love Company too, used to come on channel 4 after midnight when I was (a lot) younger.

    I remember seeing this when I was a kid and it was quite a rollercoaster ride of a film. I enjoyed it. A few years ago my fiancée wanted to watch it because she claimed to be a fan somehow confused it with another film (no sure which one to this day lol) but I enjoyed it more this time around. Great episode as always

      I could see confusing the title with “Brotherhood of the Wolf.” The romantic theme and picturing werewolves as actual wolves is also used in the much lighter “Blood and Chocolate.”

    I love this one too (and Neil Jordan’s work in general). Oddly, I don’t own it yet (probably because I tend to just buy stuff I actually find in person). I would have loved to meet David Warner. Besides what you mentioned and playing a time-traveling Jack the Ripper, he is important to Trekkies for playing multiple characters in ST movies and shows.

    I've never seen this, but seeing that werewolf transformation only helps support the pros of traditional practical effects. I don't care that they can do things with CGI that they could never do practically, but you can see and appreciate the hard work, imagination and craftsmanship that goes into effects like this and John Carpenter's The Thing. You can almost see the pride of the people's labor in the final product in the movie. Practical effects have a beauty that CGI will never have, no matter how "good" it gets.

    Just watched this. Really loved it. Like aesthetically perfect. I think the Terry Gilliam comparison is kind of accurate because I think he was looking at this when he made his Brothers Grimm film. That’s pretty underrated to be honest. It was butchered by the studio, but you can still see the greatness buried in there.

    While I really like this film for the artistic elements and the fairy tale aspects, I agree that the ending didn't quite make sense to me. I know it was a strange, adult version of "little red riding hood", but having the wolves attack her in her room felt kinda weird.. which may have been the point. I have to wonder if there was anything deleted/edited out of the movie.

    I've heard a number of horror fans and critics say they don't particularly care for the werewolf subgenre. I want to say there's also a famous author or director who has stated they don't like the werewolf story. I don't remember any of the exact arguments against the subgenre, or who made them, but it seems like there are horror fans who don't enjoy the werewolf story.

    • @MovieDumpster
      @MovieDumpster  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      That’s funny because it directly ties into that split of how a person can become such a monster despite their appearance or manner, which has been used in horror stories since forever.

    • @Tom_Van_Zandt
      @Tom_Van_Zandt ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MovieDumpster I really wish I could remember the film director or horror author that said they don't like the werewolf story - and why they don't like it. I remember when I heard/read it I pretty much thought the same thing - werewolves are ubiquitous in the horror genre.
      All's I know is, when I was little - 7 or 8 - An American Werewolf in London scared the complete shit out of me. Even after my mom had me watch a behind the scenes thing on HBO showing how they did the special effects, I still wasn't convinced it wasn't real. Practical effects FTW!

    Two of the Best/Coolest Cinematic On-Screen Werewolf transformations of all time in one Movie! The Company of Wolves was made in 1984 and since then Hollywood/Mainstream movies have all gone digital Special FX and it just doesn't look as cool. End of story. Hopefully the movie industry will move back to the 'in camera/practical special make-up/gore FX in 2025 Peace to all.

    It's a surreal movie, I know, and a lot of details are purposely unrealistic, but for some reason I can't get over how someone can be eaten by wolves and get an open casket. That the sister looks more like a vampire victim takes me out of it.
