    I have been reloading for almost 40 years with a single stage RCBS. Now I have jumped in head over heels and ordered an RL550B from Brian Enos. I am like a kid at Christmas, can't wait to get it in and set up. LOL

    @sicklid72 spot check. however, it did test a bunch for OAL, and there was essentially no change over 30 rounds. the dillon seems to really stay locked down once you get it tweaked. I also spot check every 20 rounds for charge. variation is less that 0.1 grains. thanks for watching man!

    Excellent video, well done. Me and my son-in-law use a Dillion 550B too for 9mm. We use 124 gr Bayou Bullets and all kinds of brass. The Dillon is a great progressive press. You can get in a nice groove and knock out 100 rounds in no time.

    Seeing is believing & UNDERSTANDING! Thanks. Also, liked your vid sharing range time with your daughter. More girls/women need exposure to fun sports/recreational hobbies such as shooting.

    I have been reloading on a Dillion press for a few years now, and have run into a problem with the shell plate not allowing enough adjustment of the die to set the shoulder back far enough to meet the specs of my head space gauge. (.223). Dillions tech line said to over cam it a quarter turn! Not happening! That puts a lot of unnecessary stress on the press. I took my shell plate to a machinist and had him remove 0.008 from the shell plate where the bottom of the die fits into, and that gave me all the adjustment I need to come into specs. It is nice to know a very good machinist. My rifle is no longer jamming.

    @bulltastik Thanks. You are absolutely right about women. I really think moms are the key. They set the rules about what's allowed for their kids. At my gun club, we have a really big junior archery program, about 120 kids. We start them really young, 6-7 all the way to 18. A lot of mom's wanted NOTHING to do with firearms until they saw the club, what it's all about, and the junior firearms programs. Guess what? A lot of mom's joined WITH their kids and hubbies. cool stuff.

    Hey, I was wondering what made you go with the 550b over say the 650 or the Hornady L&L AP. I've been loading on a single stage Rock Chucker for about a half a year and while it was good to learn on, it takes me way too long to load rounds. I'm currently leaning towards the 550b, but still doing research.
    By the way, I introduced myself to you in the Harvard club house before the Nor Easter IDPA shoot. Keep up the great vids, as I said!

    @earthshine402 Hey man! Well, price and reputation. The 650 is great too but the 550 seemed a little more versatile and less problematic/complex, but I am not sure. I also like Dillon customer service and the no BS warranty. A lot of guys at Harvard use the Hornandy and have a lot of experience, it is a very good press but I dont know much about it. I will introduce you to a few and you can ask them. take care, we practice on the 1st and 3rd monday of the month at 7:30pm.

    I ended up getting the 650 and load .38 sp and mostly 9mm.. I can do 500 9mm in 35 mins during a good run. I do not currently shoot rifle, would like to do at least .223 at some point..

    Do you measure the overall length of each and every round, or just spot check?

  • @tommypizzo1677
    @tommypizzo1677 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    You always have to spin it by hand? That seems like it would suck. Is there an option to have it spin with the handle moving?

    Hi, I am heading towards the 550B, but am little lost with the options on the Dillon page. I am not a native speaker, and m not sure what is in the kit of $394, and one have to buy separately, like the finished ammo holder/box, spent primer box... I wouldnt like to end up with a kit, comming after 6 weeks and learning there are few things to be added for real usage. What does your setup, you use in this video cost, what is in? Thank you a ton!

    How do you verify that you are getting a consistent charge? I always have a problem with it dropping too little, too much powder.

    Also, very late comment but wanted it out there. I went to dillon planning on the 650 but i told them i was going to reload .338 and he said i had to do the 550b. So keep that in mind.

    I remove the barrel from the gun to use as a case gauge.

      +VolDep45
      I've done it for over 40 years without a hitch. One doesn't wear out the chamber. The rifling is a different story.

    • @mikemcnamee6030
      @mikemcnamee6030 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      If loading for multiple firearms in the same caliber, you should just use your gun with the tightest chamber as your lowest common denominator. A case gauge wont tell you what your actual barrel will.

    • @MrFlint62
      @MrFlint62 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Really? Have you put much thought into this? Do you own a micrometer and gauge how the dimension of your chamber grows larger over time? Think about it.

  • @RabidMortal1
    @RabidMortal1 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    I know YOU know but there are those on youtube who do not know that there's a difference between a "bullet" and a cartridge....

  • @mikemcnamee6030
    @mikemcnamee6030 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    Why a case gauge? that gauge is simply just max saami dimensions and rounds that chamber in it may very well not chamber in your particular firearm. The best case gauge possible comes free with every pistol you buy- Pull out your barrel and use it as the gauge! nothing dangerous about that at all unless you decide to go smacking the loaded round with a hammer. Besides, you are reloading ammo to fire from your firearm's chamber, not a wilson case gauge...

    If you are going to make a video about the 550 show the 550 not your whole shop. If you redo this it could be a good tutorial.
