    A fashion shoot that is also a camera review and a sneaky demonstration of how to evoke natural responses from a model on location. With a dash of cool nerves when things like tires go wrong. Well done, Marcus.

    Leica probably the best camera and lenses in the world, if only people could afford them! they just ooze quality! those portraits looked a little pale on my monitor but they were still nice! and what a great location to take pictures. That fisherman's cottage yes please two weeks would suit me fine there, is there a pub handy? if only....In the meantime I have had a extra go on the Lotto.........Thank you!

    I've owned the SL2 for about two months now and it is an absolute joy. Has it made me a better photographer, no. Has is made my photography better? Yes. The look, the quality and how this beautiful camera feels in the hand and simplicity of the menus make this camera the best I've ever owned. What this camera does for me personally is inspire me to do different types of photography that a full Canon EOS R and RF lens setup before just couldn't. But this is a personal feeling of course. You're correct on the battery issue, yes they do drain and yes you get the error message on half power. For me, the simplicity of the design, the 'idiot-proof' menus and as few buttons as possible are what makes it good for me and for many others, but again a personal thing. I hated the plethora of buttons on my Canons.
    I can't afford the Leica lenses right now but as an enthusiast amateur, the Sigma lenses are fantastic on it. A lot of people baulk at the cost of the SL2 yet not at the similar price of a Canon EOS R5. Do the sums buying the SL2 with a set of quality lenses and it's not that much more than Canon or Nikon plus their glass.
    Fantastic channel and love its uniqueness over other photography you tube channels. Keep up the great work guys.

    Back button focus easy to set up and controlling the light with flash would have preserved your highlights and protected your shadows

      Hi Michael. Thanks for your comments. I would never use flash for outdoor portraits as it interferes with the natural light, but this is just me. Another nice episode.
    But I'm wondering whether it's just me or not, that the photographs from the fashion shoot with sl2 look all over exposed, especially the model's face.

    • @PhotographyOnline
      @PhotographyOnline  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Lalam. Thanks for your comments. As long as photos have detail where intended then they are not over or under exposed. A high key image is exposed for the shadows and a low key image is exposed for the highlights. As Marcus clearly explained in the feature, he was exposing for the shadows so obviously the photos are not overexposed. Ultimately it’s down to the photographer how an image is rendered, so there’s no right or wrong. If you had taken the photos then maybe you would have wanted the results to be lower key. That’s the beauty of photography.

    • @michaelwilson4159
      @michaelwilson4159 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You would do that in post when shooting he needed flash lighting highlights needed protecting client might not like them and then it’s to late always shoot it properly so you have the choice later no good saying that’s how photographer wanted it you shoot it right then make the decision in post when you have all the data

    • @PhotographyOnline
      @PhotographyOnline  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Paul. It’s just a fluid video head, so not ideal for stills as it is heavy and bulky. If you have a long lens and want to use it on a tripod then you really need a gimbal head. We’ll be covering these on a future show.

    • @PhotographyOnline
      @PhotographyOnline  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s all a matter of opinion Dave. As Marcus explained, he was exposing for the shadows. You need to remember that the video is more heavily processed than the images, so don’t use that as your calibration reference. Hope you enjoyed the rest of it.

      Not related - just both raw Scottish beauties!

    Excellent, as always! looking at the isle of man part. I related it to, being Devonian, a short trip to south Devon, a few years ago, with a ton of history. Might be a place for James to explore, from Dartmoor ( know he's a fan of local -ish) knowledge) Its called Hallsands and the remnants of it are actually closed to the public (south hams council potentially, might let someone do a story?) Its very close to 'start point' ( the start of the south west coast path) with its very own light house. Just food for thought, but I found this most interesting, altho as a member of the public, very restricting! en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hallsands * just a thought!

    Great show again, but please, please, please just talk normally. You all sound like you are talking to five year olds. We don't need so many words emphasised within one sentence that all natural speech rhythm is destroyed.
    Language is like photography it needs to flow naturally. If it doesn't it is jarring and exhausting to listen to.
    So much of TH-cam is presented by people talking normally and clearly. It works.

      Could not disagree more / these folks all present really well and clearly all have varying degrees of experience / but maybe you know better and are better qualified to give an opinion. Keep up the good work you Photography Online folks it’s top notch

      We can assure you that we’re talking perfectly normally Kath. But if you think otherwise then there’s plenty of other TH-cam videos you can watch instead.

    There are hardly any comments posted here that say anything about the SL-2, instead the dunces here are commenting on the quality of the video.
