When they were still investigating Orr, ATF put a Lo-jack on his official patrol car. Author Joseph Wambaugh wrote about John Orr in his book entitled Fire Lover. Orr wanted to be a police officer in the early 80’s but he failed the psychological test (while he passed all the others)
It’s a very good read, and it’s one of those books you’ll want to read over and over and particularly reread parts of it. The book details all of the fires he was linked to, and all of the investigative techniques as well. There is another major fire that the book talks about extensively that they couldn’t link him to but it was a fire in the summer of 1990 that destroyed several blocks.
@@jeffk7734 i believe it was on forensic files, where they mention that the year after Orr was arrested the amount of freeway fires dropped to 0 or 1, while in the previous 10 years they were responding to a dozen or more during the summer. In the second case the judge refered to Carol as "the dealer of death", but yet he only got 5 years? Honestly, all those illegal firearms sellers got only slaps on the wrists, and 2 of them didn't get any jail time at all 🙄
Why aren’t these gun dealers charged with accessory before the fact? Once they are dealing with large numbers of guns, they know they are going to be used to commit crimes. He should lose his gun licence and liberty for several years. To protect themselves the gun dealers could report suspicious sales to ATF for investigation.
I know that was pretty messed up they all cooperated immediately but the lowest ranking dealer got time and the guys who sold 100’s or 1000’s of guns went free.
The last story reminded me of a series of arson attacks in the small settlement of Piha on the West coast of Auckland City. The person responsible was a local volunteer firefighter who was concerned about losing his job. It left his family and teammates absolutely devastated and betrayed. He served time in prison.
Imagine how much more good they could do if only they were properly funded. The miniscule amount of cases they are able to prosecute or properly investigate is depressing. Gun control measures are almost worthless if the ATF isn't funded enough to go after the criminals that already exist.

No some times ambulances has to pull over to save people's life with immediate treatment that requires two people to administer. I honestly only heard of it once and it where an ambulance crew ressused a patient who had no heartbeat then the patient went into full code again and they stopped to ressused the patient once more before getting to the hospital. Had they not the patient would have been dead on arrival.
The firefighter episode, didn't explain that when it was first suggests that it was a firefighter, it was rejected AND he wasn't investigated. The one who bought this idea up, continued to track the fires, the conferences and its attendees. Orr was the one who attended them all. Had they listened, many of the fires wouldn't have happened.
It cracks me up how smart some of these criminals are lol I’m sure as soon as jr came to see whatsup at the police station the investigators new who there man was.
That firefighter has no conscience. Imagine after people died in the earlier fires he set he continued set more fires. His punishment should have been death by fire. Tommy should have gotten more jail time. How easily these people kill their own for money is terrifying.

ZC. It's nt easy being an enforcement officer you will be targetted if you wrongly convicted aperson and let go a killer when you have less evident to charge him. Nt easy at all. Most of the time the enforcement officers to be blamed. When we put ourselves in theirshoes. We knew very well the job always been an uphill tasks.
I hope all the individuals, both sellers and buyers of the illegal guns, were arrested and imprisoned for the death and destruction those unregistered guns caused. Sure doesn't sound like any of them received significant sentences, if any at all.
That's interesting basically when people scratched a serial number off a gun, they are essentially just adding another criminal charge without actually making it untraceable. That just sounds really stupid I mean why make it even more illegal than it already is it's just another charge they can add on top of murder or whatever the crime is. And people filing off numbers don't even realize that they're not even making it untraceable they're just making it more illegal so it's stupid if someone wants it untraceable gun what they need to do is get a privately made gun or a 3D printed gun that's the moral of that story. Sometimes these shows actually teach criminals things they would not already know not saying that these shows aren't great but I'm not a criminal but if I was I would have just learned a lesson a valuable one.

I knew from the onset it was his son, because the Narrator said "He seemed genuinely concerned" Lol
Sounds like you have a crystal ball.
"Genuinely concerned" about his estranged father. Right.
Me too.... Thats my suspect 🤣🤣
He used the intelligence from school; then knew how to be the perfect perpetrator.
That paramedic had the big balls...
John Orr was fascinated by fire and arson. At first, he was able to handle it by becoming an arson investigator but eventually things got out of hand and he became an arsonist.
John Orr liked to start small fires as a young boy, per S3, E12 on Very Scary People, "The Firestarter: Chasing a Pyromaniac"
i've seen the fire cases investigation profiled extensively in other formats!!! some crazy crap goin' on with that dude but alas.....they did find, catch, convict and brought his rein of terror to an end!!! good good stuff on that one!!! REEEEALLY good!!!!
Sorry....it’s “reign,” not “rein” (attached to horses’ bridles), nor yet “rain.” Our language is hell on homophones!
@@voraciousreader3341 YES!! THAT one----thank-you! what a difference a "g" makes huh? peace and blessings.
Ok..i'm gonna ask..are we gonna just sit here and ignore @ 17:31 were the ambulance in route to the hospital PULLS OVER and STOPS because they needed to attend to the injured person? Isn't the ENTIRE PURPOSE OF THE AMBULANCE NOT to STOP and to get the injured to the hospital ASAP ??? What am i missing here?????
No some times ambulances has to pull over to save people's life with immediate treatment that requires two people to administer. I honestly only heard of it once and it where an ambulance crew ressused a patient who had no heartbeat then the patient went into full code again and they stopped to ressused the patient once more before getting to the hospital. Had they not the patient would have been dead on arrival.
That is the usual protocol load ‘‘em up b and b move out full lights and sirens no b stops! 😅
I had an b ambulance pull over with me b in it to b start my I V we were on b a bumpy rural road and I wanted a good IV ! 😅
Sound is terrible cannot watch it like that to hard on the ears,
It's not the sound, it's the overplaying music - so unnecessary...
very old show...you are too fussy and or, too young to realise that this show is around 30 YEARS old...
I'm not gonna lie, the background noise IS ANNOYING!!!
Lets pick this suspicious device up and see if ' BOOM ' aaawww crap !
Great work by the ATF!!!
These firefighters put their lives on the line.
It cracks me up how smart some of these criminals are lol I’m sure as soon as jr came to see whatsup at the police station the investigators new who there man was.
Speaking of intelligence, it is spelled “their,” not “there.”
@@inkyguy you got me on that one lol

Ads more spread out in this one - good job.
Shhhhhh.
In the final story the announcer says, “But their arsonist had no matches” when speaking about running the fingerprint through the system. 😂😂
All of those gun-dealers got off lightly, considering that they're worse dealers in death than drug-dealers!
Please remember that those crimes took place 35-40 years ago, when laws were very different. Federal sentences have been updated since then.

🎵There’s no firearms in this house,
no firearms in this house,
no firearms in this house. 🎵
That firefighter has no conscience. Imagine after people died in the earlier fires he set he continued set more fires. His punishment should have been death by fire. Tommy should have gotten more jail time. How easily these people kill their own for money is terrifying.
I like how they always disclose the fact that they had 20 yrs of experience. Well, let me tell you. In policing, experience is like fashion. What proves relevant this year is unworkable and impracticable the next 😎☹️💪
if the numbers are ground off the gun it would be quite simple to stop the numbers still being read afterwards .im not saying how though
Wow, what stunning SFX they have in the first five seconds of the episode! How did they simulate that explosion? They turned the screen red and shook it and then had all the actors fall down!
1:33 first episode
16:49 second episode
31:53 third episode
The bomb technicians should have known better than just carelessly and haphazardly touch the bomb.
They should have had their bomb suits on and taking better precautions.
read "Fire Lover" by Joseph Wambaugh
Yet again another video I can't watch as the "background" music is so intrusive. Very annoying.
Sorry, didn't realise the background noise was 'music' ...
Suspense background music lol
Then change the video Karen
Wait what happened to the second guy ? I heard manged for life”
He was maimed for life...they didn't give any further details beyond that statement.
Some of these guys need to be locked up for wearing offensive moustaches
Sheesh these guys were some real Einsteins.
Can we all appreciate the guts it takes to be part of a bomb squad?
you got to be a idiot to do this job with no protection, really
Same thing me sah must be firefighter that start the fires smh
One cannot comprehend ATF. What does alcohol and tobacco have to do with firearms? One cannot see the correlation.
It’s historic during prohibition going after illegal alcohol was a big deal and a B lot of the rum running criminals were heavily armed! 😅
Tobacco I’m not so sure of but hijacking truckloads of cigarettes and importing illegal b Cuban cigars is a big thing in something circles…😮
I just can’t believe someone shot someone in an b ambulance!!!?! 😢
Why would professional bomb investigator even approach a suspicious box without protection?
drill out the gun serial number instead of grind it. Learned that on a different episode
Thanks
Am I the only one who noticed the black man got 5 years for selling illegal fire arms, but the two white dudes got no jail time for same thing?
Very simple hun, the two white guys turned state’s witness and were cut a deal for their testimony. Black guys don’t tend to cooperate with law enforcement, therefore go to trial and are convicted for their crimes. The lesson: I fought the law and the law won. They even made a song about it in the 70’s.
@@nicolegonzalezmarrero629 Someone's feeling bold after their second solo cup of boxed wine. I hope once you sober up you'll turn off the Fox News and join the rest of us in reality and acknowledge that race inequality is real. Maybe start by making yourself some Great Value canned biscuits to take the edge off that hangover.
3:20 duhh,, lol crouching down over a suspicious looking object
One brave paramedic
What this video does not say is that the ATF is not allowed to keep a computer data base on ANY guns. They have shipping containers full of boxes of papers, millions of them that must be searched manually, page by page, in order to trace guns used in crimes...All thanks to laws passed by the NRA. What should take ATF workers minutes takes days...
Thank you for posting this. Too few people no how tied the hands of crime investigators are by laws written by the NRA.
😢
Geez these illegal gun b dealers are brazen!!! 😅
I just can’t believe how simple it is for juvenile offenders to get their hands on b a firearm! 😢

Loose the music tham we can hear the story
1991 Close to Boston - SHAY found A black box on the ground and police were called and was it a bomb? Yes it was. Two police officers were badly injured and Jerry died and the other cop was maimed for life.
was David Orr the inspiration for the movie BACKDRAFT????
No. He was not.
If I ever receive a box from a person or company I know nothing about, you can best believe I'm calling the police after watching this.
Check back ground music and noise please
No a good bomber if you put it on some
Ones car and if falls off
so evil

This is what happen if strict gun control is ineffectiveness
The most disturbing thing was he didn't recognition on a show technically through this episode like he wanted.
Tommy Shea appears to be seeking publicity 😅
Who's here for forensics
