this type of cactus- christmas/easter/thanksgiving is the only cactus that needs to be propagated in water. for best results and faster propagation place it in a clear glass with only little water and place it under LED light- you probably have those in the bathroom. it will start rooting and even getting leaves in only a week. i am saying this from my years and years of experience.

Easiest plant to propagate, just take a cutting and place in Small container add water most important place in shade receiving indirect sunlight and in a few weeks you will see results only water when soil is very dry it's been working for me zone 10a

That is a Thanksgiving Cactus. My Christmas Cactus is not so pointy like Thanksgiving cactus are.

Wow! This looks sweet…. Wish you would slow it down when you take the ‘rooted cactus’ out of the soil & put it into the self watering pot with a special medium. What exactly is it, AND how does that work? I’d like to learn the ‘soilless method’. Thank you so much in advance.!!
They put in something called "Pon".
Two of the main companies that I know sell it are Lechuza Pon (which is fertilised) and Soil-Ninja's Semi-Hydroponic medium (which is optional)
As it's a succulent, you won't need a reservoir, but do note that most fertilisers you use in soil might not be adequate for soilless mediums.
When I replant mine they never sprout. They always die before. What am I doing wrong? Also how often should I water my cactus?

They should be let to dry out for a few days not put in the dirt until they have time to heal the tear.

Yeahhh, they are very slow growers.
Very easy to make flower though, even when they're only a one-leaf cutting. You just gotta get the lighting right.
I repotted all of mine with fresh good draining soil and now they are dying on me… root rot like crazy… regardless of doing it in water or soil…. I should have left them alone in the first place

Just a quick question if you would be so kind 😅 let’s say an order of clippings of thanksgiving cactus’s arrives do you just place them in normal succulent potting soil with some water to let them take root? Or is there something else needed?
You can just stick them in soil. You don't need anything special, you just need to make sure they don't drought or rot before they root, which is pretty easy. You just keep the soil layer thin, airy, and slightly damp until it roots. Atleast, that's how I do it.

My Christmas cactus has not bloomed yet.Usually blooms around Thanksgiving. Dosent have any blooms even starting..anyone else having problems with their cactus?
@@valeriefeeler5121 we moved ours away from the wood heat to the other side of the room and in front of a window. It bloomed more than it ever has. We also fertilized it for the first time.
