That's so cool my two favorite performers. Alice it's so good to hear you doing so good. I have such great memories of the exsperience of seeing one of your shows live. Thanks Alice .So glad to see you.

I never really liked Alice Coopers music but he's great to listen to. I was impressed when he said he basically took his stage act from Arthur Brown, now not a lot of acts will even mention influences, it ruins their 'genius', but obviously Alice Cooper was not Arthur Brown, he never set himself on fire as far as I know, so its cool of him to give that credit. Schools out musically is not in the same league as ANY Pink Floyd, but the message is very similar. Neither I think is as good as Supertramps "School", which really doens't get much credit. The seventies had bands that you could 'maybe' put in a category as 'progressive rock', but really are so different from one another that they barely fit in the same category. Jon Anderson IN Pink Floyd would REALLY have been space rock, as Rick Wakeman says, NASA is always tryign to put people into space, Jon LIVES there.
I know I would've been an early super fan had I been alive at that time. Today I gravitiate to the craziest stuff and this would've the best band for scaring your friends lol.
I am a bit confused. He starts off in 1967(?) when he was unknown and Pink Floyd was an underground tour. So he got to meet Syd Barrett and play with them at that time? Then he jumps to The Wall (not a song, an album but I get the point) which was 1979 and School's Out which was released in 1972? Is the point of that to show how the bands mesh together and why he belongs in such an orchestral performance?
Alice was on a British chat show along with Jimmy Nail and Alice said "I was kicked out of school 8 times" and Jimmy replied "eh man they let you back in 7 times" .
the greatest thing about cooper is that with all the accolades as one of the legends of classic rock and living that crazy lifestyle he's found truth in YEHUSHUA/JESUS
@Carlos Saraiva He didn't say that was the reason he liked him - he said the greatest thing is that Alice knows the accolades he's received are nothing compared to knowing Jesus.
He never really said he did. But he's right about the two songs being similar. No coincidence that that was their biggest hit, but yet most underwhelming song.
Syd Barrett was the poster child for _"The Emperor's New Clothes."_ Totally overrated! People claim he was a genius because he was the founding member who got it all started. Pink Floyd's sound "evolved" into the the mega-giant they became because of David's, Roger's, Richard's and Nick's input. ...And their input was literally *light years* beyond anything Syd Barrett ever put out. ...The best thing that ever happened to Pink Floyd was Syd Barrett leaving the band.
Guys like you, really dumb guys like you, say Syd was overrated. I doubt you even play an instrument. You obviously haven't ever played Syd's songs on guitar. You're so stupid...Syd was a better singer than any other member of the band too.
His career was tragically just a few years long through no fault of his own. Still you can hear his influence throughout the rest of Pink Floyd's career, that of early David Bowie and here what became "Alice Cooper." David Gilmour talked about Syd's pure inventiveness and wist at what could have been had he kept it together longer and I think he's right.
Syd Barrett ignited the spaceship Pink Floyd, he prepared for what to come with both pop catchiness, and an out-there psychedelic cradle of possibilities. When artists are celebrated, it is primary not about technical skills or something (later stages), it is the newness, authenticity and what came out of it - how it affects the trajectory of things (in this case rock music)...
Pl ! Pink Floyd with Syd live USA I don't care if it's one min of noize one thing wrong led zepp wasn't around must been different Les zepp USA band this is 67 he's talking about
Not by that name, but Led Zeppelin first toured under the name The New Yardbirds in late 1968. I don't doubt Alice played with them early in the careers and give him the benefit of fuzzy dates. I doubt most musicians in the late 60's have ultra clear recollections without the information right in front of them. But you are correct about Zep not existing by that name in 67
Alice Cooper talking about Pink Floyd... hummm weird! Now, imagine Ozzy Osbourne trying to talk about Yes! That would be funny, just trying to figure out what he'd be saying would be ...special, so to speak!
LOL, that's true! I think Alice Cooper is confused if he thinks his so-called "music" goes hand in hand with Pink Floyd's work. That is an absolute fallacy and honestly I find it quite offensive and disrespectful to true artists such as Floyd.
Nick Adams I agree with you Nick. I'm a huge Pink Floyd fan my favorite band of all time and I do like Alice Cooper I think he's a great rocker himself. But to compare his music to Pink Floyd's is wrong on so many levels. His music cannot compete with Pink Floyd's music. Not many bands can compete with Pink Floyd when it comes to Talent artistry musicianship composing everything else
