Turned out nice! I truly think the men in my family were all blessed with nicer hair to begin with back in the day. One of my grandmothers would give me a perm from time to time as a kid in the early 60s, and I got a few on my own toward the 70s. ( My aunt always gave my grandmother a Toni home perm every few months for years and years, pretty much up into her 80s, lol). I never tried it myself at home, usually had it done at a nearby beauty school, and they truly did a good job that would last several months. My dark blond hair would always turn a slightly warm red. They used to cut some of the old perm ends off, as I remember, before doing a new perm. Also wondering if there's still that strong perm smell, lol. Never bothered me, but when you got sweaty, you'd sure smell it somewhat. I'm 70 now and seriously considering trying it at home.
There is definitely still that strong perm smell….Nur once you wash it it goes away, thank goodness 🤪., I never thought I would be giving my teen boy a perm 😂😂

Rollers on a teenage boy?! 🤔 Things sure have changed since I was one back when dinosaurs still roamed the earth! No guy would DARE to back then! LOL So much work! I just got my own haircut on Friday. 20 minutes and that's it! Buzz the lower sides, taper up to the top, take a little bit off the top and I'm done! 😁 I'll say one thing; this sure did bring back some memories for me of when I was a little boy and my mother used to 'set' her hair by rolling it up. I still remember the little rolling papers like you used and the glass of water she would dip the comb in to wet each piece of hair before rolling it, etc. The only difference was, unlike those little snap rollers you used, she used larger ones and held them in place with bobby pins.
Yeah it took me a while to realize all the curly-haired teen boys I was seeing were getting perms lol, I was shocked, when I was a teen you would have been made fun of for getting a perm 🤣

I'm a 38 year old guy. When I was high school aged, guys wanted straight hair. My hair was curly, so I was jealous, but no people love my curls and even ask if I've had a perm. Embrace the curls!
People really noticed the curls after I put some color into my hair. Naturally dark brown, but my stylist puts blond into it by foiling it. Not frosted tips (I know you remember guys having those, I had them) but more natural looking highlights. Makes the curls really stand out. Great family BTW, y'all genuinely look to love each other and have fun.
I would recommend that you go to Sally Beauty and buy some plastic processing caps that you put over his hair while the pre perm conditioner and waving Lotion are processing.
Oh and I thought Trevor was a natural curly haired lad. Dare you to go out and play Baseball with your curlers in buddy lol. Don't forget to give Mummy a cuddle Trevor.

I would beg my mother to cut it short, but she didn't want to. Also, when I was his age (many decades ago), only old women got their hair curled. Its funny how trends change throughout the years! What people dont realize is that a lot of the curls that young guys were sporting back in the 70s and 80s were done with perms back then its just that guys didnt talk about it back then and now days guys are more open about such things which makes it more socially acceptable! Also back in the 70s and 80s young guys couldnt wait until they had some body and chest hair showing and were proud of having it! Now days its just the opposite, a dreaded thing, and they shave it off their bodies, some while never getting a razor anywhere close to their faces! Haha the world sure is a strange place with the ever changing trends!😆😁

The things we do for these boys... I took a 1/2 in barrel curling iron and curled his top, (sides are short) just to see what heat would do. He woke up this morning and the curls were in tact. He put mouse in and they were gone... I should have put the mouse in myself...🤦🏽♀️

You can totally do it!!! Putting the curlers in is the only part that is annoying....once you get past that, the rest is easy! You'll have to come back & let me know how it goes!

You are not bugging me!! The perm kit comes with paper things, but you can also order them on amazon. The ones I bought are in my amazon storefront under "Trevor's stuff". There are usually plenty in the perm kit, but I like to have extras on hand just in case. also, sorry it took me so long to reply! I just saw this!
