Meredith Viera was absolutely awesome, but Regis was also awesome too; both of them were the best. RIP Regis.
Meredith Vieira was a celebrity and guest contestant on the primetime version! Regis Philbin was a substitute host on the syndicated version.

1 hour primetime was cut in half to 30 minutes syndicated.
Instead of saying "From New York, everybody, good night!", Regis Philbin says "From New York, everybody, tomorrow it is!".

Regis Philbin -it is inconceivable to cotton on to the harsh and brutal reality of the talismanic personality who electrified the show with panache and sagacity is no more. We commiserate with family, his loved ones and ardent quiz afficionados over the untimely loss of him and let his soul rest in peace. I am sure the show could find no match to replace him and his posing questionnaire with effulgence remained etched eternally on the minds of viewers.

Clock version was definitely Millionaire's darkest days, 'cause most of the people never even saw $500,000. A few people did, & I think only one person saw the Million Dollar Question playing it all the way through - Ken Basin. People are doing better on the shuffle version, they're making it to round 2, walking away with a quarter-million, & even seeing the million dollar question, it's just missing one thing, a million dollar winner.

But it wasn't legit, it was because of a tournament.
From a production aspect, I HATE the shuffle version. It's just gone too far away from the original format that everyone loved. As far as the clock version, I think if they would have :15, :30, :60 for the time limits, and eased up on the questions a bit, they would have had more success with it. The shuffle version just makes no sense.
Or :30 and :45 and either free or :60 only on grand prize question.
This show stopped being entertaining when people stopped winning.
Just when you thought Regis was going to officially leave after doing the 10th Anniversary Primetime of the show.
January 2010 came along that boring shuffle format, which just made Millionaire go straight downhill.

Nice to see Regis back on Millionaire a show he started back in 1999, I wonder why he didn't return to the show when the syndicated show debuted?
He didn’t want to deal with the grind of recording four shows in a day for the syndicated version basically.

Probably because "Live with Regis & Kelly" took up most of his schedule. I mean, they do tape about five Millionaire shows in one day, sure, but "Regis & Kelly" is done live at 9.00 a.m. every weekday, and I don't think Regis would want to work every day of the week doing both shows.

Chris Harrisons version of millionaire is very faithful to the original Regis Phillbin show the only thing that's different is that the phone a friend is now +1 other than that it's pretty much the same
hypershadix1 not even close, no hotseat, different and worse lighting effects, color scheme, horrible cheesy podium like setup in middle of studio, HORRENDOUS game show music. Why they replaced the original score is way beyond me. Adding back 50/50 and sequential money is hardly a return to the original.
And no more millionaires.

Such a ripoff with the new money ladder. It makes it hard to guess when it's 1 in 2, and also with the 50/50 replaced with double dip it becomes harder to use too.
1 shot at 2 answers or 2 shots at 4. 50/50 is a 50% chance, double dip is 58% chance.
You can't nor aren't allowed to walk away with Double Dip.
