It's good if you want to transfer the ferrite bead to another cable that doesn't have it....say you have a micro usb cable, but you want a ferrite on it, then you can find your other cables that had a ferrite choke and then reuse it.

IF you had any idea why the ferrite is used you'd leave it there.

keep it there to remove high frequency noise or interference.

You didn't notice that he only did this for video and informational purposes? Also, maybe he needed it on a different cable.

sooo - how do you get the magnet off the cable WHEN THE ENDS ARE STILL ATTACHED. NICE SLIGHT OF HAND THERE.

@@therider3939 The core is a single, solid piece. Smash with a hammer or carefully grind it off with an angle grinder or Dremel with a metal cutting disc installed.

Balloon? Kite? I think some context is missing.

Sorry about that, there is certainly a lack of context there. There is some here: kaptery.com/product/shutter-timer

You had a good usb cable now you don't why remove something that was mounted for a good reason.

They're installed to reduce/eliminate interference from other electronic devices. It appears that he's removing this one to save weight and will be using the cable on a "balloon" as mentioned in the video. It's not dire that you have one installed in various circumstances.

Great- I can think of no better case for NEEDING a ferrite - on a ballon or kite that is up hundreds of feet so it can radiate RFI hash and interference to an even greater area. Thanks for contributing to the loss of use of hundresds of thousand radio receivers and increasing the RF spectrums noise floor. Hope your RFI won't land right on an aircraft approach or tower frequency-
Do NOT remove ferries - especially from digital devices and power supplies.
