    fun facts from someone who has dealt with sleep paralysis for most of their life. If you focus on wiggling your toes while paralyzed, it seems like it helps you to recover and move quicker. It also seems like it usually only happens when you sleep on your back(at least for me that's how it is).

    • @enderblawk5068
      @enderblawk5068 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I know it's been 2 years but how do you deal with it? Is there a condition that seems to make it more likely to induce sleep peralasis? (However you spell that word)

      I've only experienced sleep paralysis and when I did I heard something that sounded like the wall behind me collapsing. It's the only time I've ever hallucinated that I can recall and it was so realistic I actually thought something happened. I also heard people speaking and moving throughout the building which I don't know if they were real or not. The thing that bothered me the most was honestly just boredom, lying with my eyes closed and trying to ignore my body so that it doesn't feel like I'm suffocating for however long, was horrible for my adhd brain. I passed the time by thinking what I would ask a Christian idea of god should they be able to answer. I only noticed that I wasn't paralyzed anymore when my leg spasmed.

    I have sleeping paralysis sometimes. People report strange things happening around them, but, this happens because they panic. If you have a sleeping paralysis episode, just stay calm. If you want your body to "work" again, close your eyes (but DON'T open them or you'll hallucinate), and start to breathe heavily, but very slow and increase the pace. The brain will understand this as a stress and will wake you up.

    I had sleep paralysis once as a teen and it was easily one of the most terrifying things I've experienced. I remember being unable to move, feeling restricted, having trouble breathing and (most creepy to me) the feeling of someone's weight at the end of my bed. Being raised extremely religious and not knowing of this type of event I was convinced that a demon/ghost had attacked me. I'm an atheist now and understand what actually happened, but this SCP puts me right back in that mindset of "what if...".
    Great stuff. Always enjoy your readings. :D

  • @Sayoko-Von-Silve
    @Sayoko-Von-Silve 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I have encountered sleep paralysis myself before. A few times in fact. My mind played tricks on me making me think there was demons out of sight, their presence consuming my non-peripheral vision. My body couldn't move, my room was so dark that nothing but images of moving shadows were what filled the space around me visually. Then as soon as my body starts responding - everything returned to normal, panic degrading into normality.
    The first few times this happened, I panicked fully. I was scared, I didn't know what was going on, and had trouble going back to sleep for the rest of the night. After a few more times I started to realize it wasn't real, even though my body remained immobile and my mind was trying to play tricks on me. Eventually.. One night I woke up like that, and quickly realized I was paralyzed again and my mind started playing tricks again - and in my mind I said: "... No. I know better. No demon has hold on me, for Christ my savior is here." My body stayed paralyzed for a short while longer, but my mind stopped playing tricks. I have yet to wake up with sleep paralysis again since then. I don't know if this will help anyone who suffers from more extreme or less extreme variants of this, but it is what helped me. I hope you all sleep well.

    Inducing lucid dreams requires you going into sleep paralysis, pretty creepy but a bit better seeing as you're the one causing it. For people having trouble with bad visions with it, look into lucid dreaming. That way you can kind of sculpt your dreams. Think it just tends to go bad because of the initial panic.

  • @AngelSamael
    @AngelSamael 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    It's sleep paralysis in SCP form but seeing as they pose no real danger other than fear itself they're not that scary and an infestation of them could prove useful if attacked by a human strength level SCP. Frankly if I was caught in a major multiple on site containment breach, I would run into these guy's cages.

    Sleep paralysis is a dream state. It doesnt go away. Your eyes are not open although you are convinced that they are. If you have learned to control your lucid dreaming, you can also realize this and focus yourself through it. It's usually brought on by oxygen deprivation from the position you sleep in.

      I hallucinate when I get it. I've had it hundreds of times. It's terrifying every time. My bedroom door will open and a black clawed hand will curl around it. That usually scares me enough to wake me up. People who have not seen that shit have no clue just how real it seems. Especially when you're a kid and you don't know what sleep paralysis even is. I thought something was after me my entire childhood until someone told me what it was.

    I've suffered sleep paralysis I find the science around it fascinating. Yes, due to the nature of sleep peralysis its an uncontrollable fear. Your mind is booting up survival functions (or shutting them down last) so you cannot move, yet you are (thanks to the survival instincs) searching out threats int eh form of fear.

    I continue to experience the very same paralysis described. Since my birthday, 2013-today, this has been on and off so far. but I've actually gotten used to it, and I wait patiently until I'm able to roll out of bed, then shrug it off. I still sleep with my gun in its holster, just in case. I can not lie about this; it's creepy, but it's not as frequent nowadays, best thing to do is stay calm, and it's not so bad at all...

    Omg I SWEAR to GOD I went the same thing when I was a kid. I couldn't get up from my bed, I couldn't let out my voice and after like what seem10 minutes of panicking then I saw it. In the bottom right corner of of my room just standing looking at me waving its finger left and right and I just stared at it for the longest time without blinking because deep down I felt that if I blink it's going to come up to my face.Eventually what felt like forever I blinked then it was gone I kept looking back-and-forth in my room panicking wondering where it went ,then like 20 seconds I blinked and it rush to my face and grab my throat chocking me. After I passed out and when I woke up I was in the top left corner of my room seriously shaking and feeling suffocated. Other than the fact that night will forever be burned in my memory I couldn't sleep for practically a whole week. I kept it to myself since my mom didn't believe me despite the fact that I was desperate ,and I know she saw it in my face she just kept telling me it was just a nightmare but I know what I felt mentally and physically and now I can only pray that it doesn't have happen to my baby brother i and currently 21 my brother is 5 good night happened to me when I was 11 years old

I have a fear that IL get anxiety about breathing while in this state and be unable to breath buy so far I have yet to remember that fear while in such a state.

    Was going to point out what happens to you during these events, from too much experience, but I decided not to. While I should be advising you to remember those words from Hitchhikers but I won't. Instead I will just smile a creepy smile that you might one day see from the corner of your eyes as you drift off to sleep, unable to move your head to reassure yourself it is just a shadow. I am told a normal person will experience Sleep Paralysis at least once in their lives, so you all have something to look forward to....
    Sleep well.

    I've had sleep paralysis twice my whole life. my poor girlfriend has had it more than that. it sucks hard but i got over it even being as religious as i am. if you've seen movies like aiien resurrection as a kid it tends to make you numb to a lot of other disturbing shit in life. i say this because this scp isn't nearly as scary to me as the cow bell. that one is really scary. not being able to sleep scares the fuck out of me. thumbs up if anyone thinks the same.
