Had my Honda for a year now covering 6000 miles. Added a top box , hugger and taller screen. What a great bike, fun without being crazy. Finnish , performance and handling are all very good. A very smart purchase.
had my cb500x for 12 months now & what a great little bike, i have put 5000 miles on her (just done my 3rd oil & oil filter change) . i have got the full honda luggage kit (top box, panniers, centre stand, hand guards, rear hugger, givi tall screen) & have just put a bigger top box on so i can put 2 helmets in it - (givi v47 n tech). i use it almost every day & at weekends usually have a pillion aswell. its light, easy to ride, good seating position (ime approx 5ft 10) good on fuel 62/74 miles to gallon. i have put a few videos of the bike on youtube i went to buy a yamaha mt07 (i have owned a yamaha fz6 and wanted to calm down a bit) the mt07 was fantastic also but was'nt pillion friendly & the temptation to rev it was there, took out the honda and bought it. lovely bike to ride
I'm a bigger guy hence "Motoviking". I use my 2013 CB500X as my daily commuter. 70 miles round trip 5 days a week. I am 6-2 280 and It averages out to a solid 53mpg for me. I am actually building this for a midsize CC adventure bike so I am looking at buying another CB500X and use that for my daily commute. They are affordable with Hondas famous reliability and they are cheap to fix.
Talk about leading questions. This is a good bike now that most of the early bugs have been worked out of this trio of bikes; ) I would consider one myself..
Refreshing review of the CB500x, still looking at this and the Yamaha FZ-07. Realistically, the CB500x would be a more practical bike for me. The FZ-07 would likely bring out the hooligan in me and possibly get me into trouble.
I recently failed my A2 because of a 10cm skid on my emergency stop. It was such a small skid it had to be measured yet they decided to fail me. I'm going to retake when I'm 24 in January so hopefully I'll end up with a full license. I'm thinking that this will be the bike for me if I pass! I'd like to travel across Europe and this seems pretty perfect.
This would be perfect. I'm looking into getting into motorcycles and I want something that is sporty, but inexpensive, not too powerful, and can be ridden for a long time comfortable and on dirt roads.
3:48 - "Everything's right in it's proper place" (speaking in response to a question about ergonomics and buttons).... Um... no. That big, friggin horn is right where the turn signals are supposed to be (on a normal bike). That goofy reversal is annoying and takes getting used to. WTH was Honda thinking?
I ride a 2018 cb500x. the problems are solved. louder exhaust, Gear indicator, and taller wind screen. the next step is a storage box on the back. then it is Perfect.
Hi did you saw : the Great upgrades on the new CB500X 2019; i love it; Great Job Honda; i’m really tempted to upgrade my CB500X 2017; Honda: now please create a new version : a CB500X Adventure Sports ((kind of Rally Raid version; small Africa Twin; spokes wheels, inverted front forks, skid plate, hand guards, rear suspension with adjustable remote, engine guards, dual front brake discs, ABS switch on/off...)) & i will buy it to swap my CB500X 2017 for a CB500X Adventure Sports 2020. Or, let’s dream, i would also upgrade for a future new CB650X or for an Africa Twin 700cc (my dream bikes).
Great review and its great to hear an opinion from a woman to point out the seating height also. Curious what is tamara's (hopefully spelled correctly) height? I wish to get this bike this year but I'm vertically challenged at 5' 4".
SuperShadowtwo I'm 5'6" with around a 29-30" inseam. I can have the balls of both feet on the ground, or shift slightly to one side and get a foot flat with a slight stretch. Depending on your inseam, you should be OK. The bike feels quite light at a stand still.

MotoViking How do you find the highway power? I'm also a bigger guy who commutes. Wondering how well it'll haul almost 300lbs 100-120 km/h?

Honda did a great job with this

Safe for a beginner?
Great review. Thanks!
Very impressive bike but very hard to get one at present in Australia.
Sounds like an ad for honda. No bike cons described, but there is a few. For example the gear gauge is missing.
I've owned 5 bikes and none of them have ever had a gear indicator. It's not a necessity, especially at this price point.
Why is everyone fixated with a gear indicator? Have we all lost the ability to count to 6 and feel what’s happening beneath us.
I really don't understand why people need a gear indicator. It does not make any sense. Anyway, that's just my opinion. :)

LOL!
Was this girl from Honda?

how tall is she...?
shes 5 ft 8, she was hearing boots with 2 inches heels, and she was tippy toeing at 3:52.
She looked like she was struggling to flat foot 🤣 I knoe

SuperShadowtwo she's about 5ft 8in, as her feet and mine are roughly the same touching the ground :)
Linda Simpson Thank you for the response.

bfleendini Thanks for the info, I do have a 29" inseam and my weight of 180 lbs. should bring the bike down tiny bit more.
so Tamara likes the bike - does it also work for 100 pds 6foot males? :-]
nice bike.
Ideal girlfriend.. ride safe!
So when's the reviewer buying this bike?
"Tamara Morin"... *badum tss*
