Hello everyone. I’m John the maker of the room box . Really nice comments and yes it was funny she thought the back compartment was glued in place. Clearly she was not the original purchaser as I go through the operation in detail. Just one comment. The review criticized the internal leds. Again it is a shame she did not realized that the internal and landscape leds can be dimmed down using the little blue dimmers on the lighting panel. They go from bright to less than 30% illumination. (Or switched off completely). Regards and thanks for the comments . John
Hello John! So nice of you to comment here. My compliments on your beautiful work, the room box is perfect! You made it for my friend Elly de Kraker back in 2015, and she gave it to me before she passed away. She did not get a chance to explain all the intricacies of the room box to me. Because it is so well thought out and well made, it was odd to me that the back was glued on, haha. Of course it wasn't. As for the led lights, I did notice the blue thingies with the arrows on and wondered what they were for, not realizing that they were dimmers. Again, very well done. I understand you no longer make roomboxes? Thank you! -Josje
@@MakeMiniatures Hello jose I do remember Ella and am really happy she gifted rather cabinet to you . Would it be at the 1z12 show where I met her? I have a 12th scale theater I’m regrettably selling as I have no room anymore Do you know anyone who may be interested John
Hello John, You met her in Arnhem where she ordered the roombox, (Elly and I are both from the Netherlands) but she picked it up at the 1z12 show. I wouldn't know who'd like to buy the theater, but if you can tell me some more about it and maybe send me some pictures I can mention it in my vlog. I found a yahoo email address for you, is that still the one you are using? Josje
Oh Josje, how hilarious. And to hear you giggling in fast speed made me laugh even more. So lucky you didn’t attack it with the craft knife. That would be something I would do, pull it all apart then realise my mistake. At least you found out before any damage was done. To the craftsman, John, who made the box, it truly is a beautiful piece and so well made and designed. Cheers Robyn ❤😊
You are incredibly lucky to have such a Work of Art. I hope it will always be taken care of and cherished. I'm also so happy John added his comment. He is a Master.
That is so beautiful! I love the clever use of the magnets! That makes so much sense! The construction of the back panel is genius,& your reaction to figuring it out was hilarious!
Very funny Josje and such a fortuitous discovery! The box is a great example of a well-thought-out solution. Thanks again for posting. Spring is on the horizon. J
Oh no, how can I ever again be satisfied with an old cigar box? I now want a box this beautifully designed and built. Is there anyone out there making boxes of this quality? And the lovely interior! I am so delighted to discover this channel.
Hahaha! It is a beauty, isn't it?! I don't know who's making boxes of this quality at the moment. I think we must just be satisfied to use it as inspiration at the moment. Old cigar boxes also have their charm though! Thank you for joining us here Mindy! 😃
Whoever designed and built this room box certainly knew about the intricate needs of electric lighting. Truly amazing! Your work in decorating and highlighting the lighting is a real tribute to Elly and the craftsperson who produced the room box. Pity it didn’t come with instructions😂😂
😂 Yes, that would have been so helpful! It really is a beautifully made roombox. I think John Kilner may be (or was) a cabinet maker, the roombox is so precisely made! And he had a good knowledge of a miniaturist's electric lighting needs.
OMG Josje l nearly peed my pants laughing at watching you discover that the panel actually comes out 😂, at least you found out before you started cutting it, they most certainly are well designed and made, l love watching your videos because I love doll houses and miniatures, tfs x Julie 🇬🇧
I cried laughing with your sped up laughing, well, you said the magnets were stong!!! 😂😂 I didn't know room boxes were so intricate, yours is beautiful😊
😂 Well it was just so silly! I had tried several times before to get that panel off, and I had done that whole interior build through the front, having to remove the window time after time and carefully slide up that panel to install the wiring. It was quite annoying 😉 Most roomboxes are not this intricate and well built. This is the only one I have seen like this.
Welcome back! You have been missed, but you totally deserved a long break after producing so many lovely videos all in a row! This box is truly a masterpiece. Am I correct in thinking that your friend Elly designed it? If not, the 😮builder must know a miniaturist bc this covers literally the whole wish list. It has the most amazing features I’ve ever seen. Very innovative. Too bad the company is out of business. Out of curiosity, what are the exterior dimensions? Thank you sharing the details with us. 😊
Thank you, Dana! 😊 I don't think Elly designed it. Karon Cunningham mentioned on her blog she was impressed by his oak roomboxes when she was next to them at the fair in Arnhem in 2011. Elly ordered her's in 2015. I don't know for sure that they are out of business, but I assume they are as I can find nothing about them on the internet. The outer dimensions are 55,5 cm (W) x 32,5 cm (D) x 38 cm (H). This is including the decorative top and bottom moulding and the ball feet.
@@MakeMiniatures I found an email address for him and he is listed as an exhibitor at a show in the UK. It looks like the show is cancelled for this year, but I took a chance and emailed him. I'll let you know if I hear anything back from him. Thank you for the dimensions.
You're welcome! Oh, that be great if you'll hear back from him. Please let me know if you do and if they have some email address or website where people can contact him.
What a beautifully designed roombox! It's so well thought out. Room for back lighting, scene settings all so well done. Love how he used the small magnets to keep it together. You finished it with such a great setting. Glad you're back.
Dank je wel Sandy! Het is een geweldige roombox, daarom begreep ik ook niet waarom de achterkant vastgelijmd zat. Ik had al eerder geprobeerd om het eraf te halen 😆
Hello Tonya, I inherited the roombox from a friend. She bought it many years ago at the Arnhem fair from John Kilner, the maker of the roombox. I'm afraid John is no longer making roomboxes, so they're only available pre-owned now, if you can find them. Or maybe you can find a carpenter who can make you something similar?
Hi, the beautiful roombox was constructed by John Kilner of No. 1 Elite designs. I've mentioned it in the description. I believe John is retired now. He left a few comments below the video.
😂 Well Becky, I'm sorry I disappointed you with my video. Would you care to elaborate on my poor performance? For instance, what should I have done differently, how can I improve my future videos... etc. I'm looking forward to your input. 😃
