If IU loses to Ohio state and beats Purdue convincingly, they should still be in the playoffs. Do you know how hard it is to go undefeated in the Big Ten, regardless of if they’re ranked or not? Pretty damn hard., your only stopping point is Ohio State. if Indiana loses to Ohio State, and a committee kicks them out of the playoff, it’s because they don’t want Indiana in the playoffs, period, right from the get-go
I think Indiana is a very good team...but it's a lot easier to do if you don't play a single team with an in-conference winning record (and that's even taking the loss to IU away from everyone's record). It's not their fault. It's just crazy how the schedules are so imbalanced in these new conference formats.
@@drewc771but we all know, rankings don’t mean nothing, anyone can beat anyone at any given time. all I know is Indiana is beating the shit out of people on their schedule. they’re undefeated. it’s hard to go undefeated in the big 10 no matter who you’re playing. as long as we have Cignetti as coach, our program is just gonna get better.!!👍
I'm not sure why the CFP committee gets so much hate. Their top six teams are almost identical to the top 6 of both the AP poll and the Coaches poll. Whomever they choose there will always be some dissention and dissatisfaction.
Get rid of the committee! Base it on winning a conference championship for all P4 and G5 that would leave three spots left for the best records of the conference seconds. No judgements, just the best teams from each conference and the best of the rest. Use the strength of schedule for the 12 teams to seat them. This would allow those that don’t get in to play in choice bowl games. The committee can select those instead since it’s all about TV.
we are having an amazing year but if an 11-1 Indiana doesn't get in then next season teams are just going to not try after 1 loss since the committee is saying if you aren't a blue blood you aren't getting in unless you go undefeated and honestly what's the point of a 12 team playoff if an 11-1 big ten team gets left out
Are we not going to talk about the Allstate playoff predictor having IU at like 96% probably of getting in? You can even pick the outcomes of future games. Statistically we are still in if we lose to Ohio State. Unless we get absolutely boat raced and dragged through the mud by OSU, we are fine.
If BSU needed another quality win, such as beating UNLV in the MW championship, I would prefer them for a resume boost. But they don't. Win and you're in. So I say take the easier road with CSU. But as long as it's a home game, which it should be, i'm not worried about either team
An Indiana fan complaining about the rankings is absurd. Your SOS is 100 or worse by every measure. PSU is in the top 30 by every measure. That's a 70 spot difference yet Indiana is ranked one spot behind.
Penn State's only win over a ranked opponent was over like a 23rd-ranked Illinois. Just the eye test should tell you that Indiana would annihilate the Illini. PSU beat them 21-7 in Happy Valley. Indiana would've won that game by twice that.
@@MissionForward3 Penn State is 27-0 in the regular season since 2022 against all non-top 5 opponents named OSU and Michigan. They had a top 5 ranked defense in 2022, 2023, and top 10 in 2024. Indiana passed the eye test against a terrible Michigan team that Washington beat who PSU just blew out? Okay.
@@MissionForward3 Why? Indiana didn't annihilate Michigan. Eye test is garbage, bc not everyone's eyes work very well. It's also a lot easier to look good when you're playing mediocre and bad teams.
I read where they said Michigan’s strength of schedule last year was over 100 just like Indiana this year, and guess what, Michigan won the national championship!! Keep that in mind.
ESPN is just in bed with the SEC. They need more SEC teams in the CFP. They want you to over look the bad losses these teams have. I mean Vandy has three conference wins….. and a loss to Georgia State. Yes, Georgia State not Georgia. LSU got beat by USC. Yes, 17th place in the B1G USC. They are down this year and ESPN is trying to cover it up. Georgia’s offense is outside the top 50 and their QB has more turnovers than anyone else. Their big win is over Texas, and Texas’ big win is Vandy. The conference is a house of cards.
You suggest stating what everyone has to do to make the playoff. Problem is out of the Big ten SEC and Notre Dame who get up to nine spots, if Georgia beats Tennessee and Texas A&M beats Texas, you have 11 teams with strong playoff arguments. Then it's going to come down how teams look, name brand, margin of victory in their last important game. Or maybe it just comes down to one loss is fewer than two losses. We don't know, and the committee doesn't know The committee is rooting for Tennessee to eliminate Georgia and Texas to eliminate A&M, no matter what Heather Dinich (no disrespect) says
You're erroneously framing the conversation around Georgia when you should be framing it around Texas that has only beaten one ranked opponent.... Who was that Texas beat?.. Michigan... Well guess what..... Indiana beat Michigan, too, but the SEC bias ranks Texas higher.... It's a beauty pageant.
So, you bring up a good point, which is that you really can't just lump teams together because they have the same record in the same conference. You're right, UGA and Texas have totally different resumes. Texas doesn't have much for wins, but they still have a bit more than Indiana does. It's not like wins are just top 25 or not-top 25. You're also gonna get more credit for beating teams in that top 25-40 range, for instance, than teams farther down. Texas has a few of those. And while I'm not sure a one game comparison is going to hold much weight....While both IU and Texas beat Michigan, Texas did it far more convincingly and on the road. However, If Texas loses to Texas AM or Arkansas and falls to 10-2, that would hurt more than IU losing to Ohio St, especially if it's a close game. So I do think 11-1 Indiana would have a good case against 10-2 Texas, much better than the case against 10-2 UGA.

ok now lets do if OSU loses
Spencer, you need to have a Locked On College Football FB Squad Sho. Imagine Kenton Gibbs, Jacob Goons, Buffs guy & LSU guy. Maybe throw in a G5 guy.

If you don’t reward teams for playing a tough schedule then we’re gonna keep getting these major mismatch cupcake games every year.

Ohio state should be lucky next weeks game is in thier backyard! Because if that game was here, Ohio state would run in to a problem!!
Buckeyes deserve this one at home after going to Oregon and Penn St

Why?

It's going to be controversial in the end like always. Say Colorado crashes the party then what happens with a potential 12-1 BYU?
