Rachael Leahcar talks about her disability and how you can turn your weakness into a strength

- Saturday 3 December was International Day of People with Disability.
To celebrate, singer/songwriter Rachael Leahcar recorded this message of encouragement for Open Access Students.
Rachael is legally blind and currently has around 5% of vision, which deteriorates over time.
As you’ll see in the video she doesn’t let it stop her! She has performed her music all around the world and is also very passionate about helping people with a disability overcome challenges and turn weakness into a strength.

You know, to overcome such adversity in a world that's so visually dependent is truly amazing and quite inspiring; not just for those who may be in a similar situation, but for everyone. It's people like you who inspire change and make this world a better place for everyone... congratulations on all your success. The brave and determined quite often find a means to turn weakness into a strength, regardless of the obstacles that may be in the way... I hope this message provided some bravery and determination to those who needed it most.
Rachael is such a strong , sweet, and amazing young lady. I have lots of respect for her and admire her for the strong person that she is! I wish her all the best in life, always! 😍❤

What a lovely person you are Rachael. Obviously, you would be "color blind" as well so you don't have to deal with all the prejudice we have to deal with in this world. Such great ambassador for disabled people.

One thing i real don't like about you! Acturly it is so bad, that you have not put a lot of your singing out on YT! So in the new yourl et us have pleasure of a lot of your singing! It can only bee too litle! Love from Denmark.
