I bought my Capspray 9500 4 stage in the late 1990s. It was the top HVLP that Wagner made at the time, before they rolled their professional equipment into the Titan brand. After 20 years it still performs like when it was new. I find it hard to imagine that you will ever feel the need to uprade from your 115.
I almost pulled the trigger on one of these but just don’t have the confidence of thinning down materials and making them consistent from one batch to the other. Any mixing additives/consistency advice you can offer once you get the ball rolling would be really helpful. I think most folks are comfortable getting a gallon of latex and shooting it straight from the can. Whats the learning curve for thinning?
I’ve have have had the cap spray cs9100 since 2002 (titan bought capspray), you did a good choice Ron, In my opinion are the best players on the market, and you can get the parts for that matter any paint store, The turbine itself will never break you just have to replace the check valve and the gaskets at the cup. One tip I’ll give you is make sure you thin your finishes, the directions will say he can spray it without training but a turbine does it need a water catcher because it heats up the air eliminating all the moisture So if you don’t then your paints you’ll get a ton of orange peel. When useing solvent-based lacquer ill actually thin the finish 30% but lacquer thinner, I know that sounds crazy but you’ll see when you use it. 👍🏽
The increase in quality and efficiency of your end product that comes from a quality tool, leads to higher profitability, and is well worth the initial extra cost.
Thought and I for on importance of ease of cleaning and maintenance? Not for finish work, but I have at times avoided use of my airless sprayer just to avoid 45 minutes of clean up.
Hi Ron. Totally off the subject question. Referrrd a friend starting in woodworking to subscribe to your channel, he’s probably going to order plans for the PTS. Do you think it would be feasible, at least for one side, on my full-size Paulk workbench to make horses with the lumber racks as on the PTS?
Hey Kevin, absolutely! When I have time to update the PWBII, I will actually make the horses with racks on both sides just like the PTSII. Great observation😎🤙
What you choose is perfect for your type of projects comparing to airless. It's much more than efficiency, you have a lot of control on the gun features allowing great accuracy. I build bigger size projects using wood for a living. I moved from hvlp to airless because of the ability to take paint directly from the bucket, built in filter (hvlp needs very clean paint, not always practical outside), extension pipes and more. I use only new technology low pressure airless tips. I don't think the numbers you gave about overspray are correct. When I spray large surfaces overspray is neglectable. Most paint loss caused when I spray thin boards especially their thin sides. The airless doesn't allow the accuracy to catch only the wood and than paint goes in the air...

Gentle suggestion that you just take a second stab at the dialog rather than 3 second jump cuts. That style gets really jarring
