This was probably one of the best scenes in the film. For so long, the franchise portrayed carnivores as the dangerous ones to be scared of, but the Therizinosaurus proved that herbivores can also be dangerous, if not more so than meat-eating dinosaurs, just like in modern day animals. Therizinosaurus to me felt and acted like a modern day Rhinoceros. Doesn’t really tolerate other animals in its path, eats vegetation, has poor eyesight and a keen sense of hearing and smell. How they set the Therizinosaurus initially too was cleverly thought out. They want you to think it’s a carnivore when it killed the deer and then takes you by surprise when it starts browsing on the leaves, especially if you don’t know an awful lot about dinosaurs.

I love the Therizinosaurus scene because it shows us that not all herbivores tolerate each other, I mean take Hippos for example they don’t get along with anything, same go for Rhinos and Elephants them two are rivals.

This is where I truly fell in love with the Therizinosaurus.
From its design, to its slow-paced reveal in the movie, it's by far one of the most disturbing dinosaurs in the series, second only to the Scorpios rex and the Indoraptor. This herbivore flipped everything we knew about _most_ herbivorous dinosaurs, and proves that a 16-foot tall turkey is just as terrifying as an elephant in musth.
Watching this giant, owl-bear-sloth thing creep behind Claire, ready to stab her back with its 3-foot long claws at any time is truly a anxiety-inducing experience, not to mention the music, and the alien-like sounds it emits all the while. It's like something out of a horror game.
Colin Trevorrow may have given us a not-so-epic, rushed conclusion to the Jurassic World trilogy, but once you see these prehistoric creatures appear in the scene, you're in for a thrilling ride.

The silent walk slowly approaching Claire & the creepy eerie sound of the voice, growling in low tone, made by this prehistoric bird is scarier than any elements in this scene.
This is a blind Therizinosaurus that looks damn fearsome & ferocious,
especially where it acted upon her aggressive instinct to slash & swept away the deer with its claws, distinctively reflect & speak volumes of its intensified temperament of aggression which truly send chills down my spine.
I've spotted one flaw or loophole in this scene, why can't the blind Therizinosaurus smell Claire's odour while it can sense where the deer is. And why can't the deer sharp ears anticipate that big bird coming from behind. You can't fool the intelligent observance of the audiences.
An introduction of a prehistoric bird
which resembles our modern day flightless birds such as Ostrich, Emu, Rhea & Cassowary, is rather unique & authentically original in the"Jurassic" motion pictures franchise.
The Therizinosaurus also reminds me of another epic, original motion picture "10,000 BC" back in 2008.
In the movie 10,000 BC, box office success was attributed to the originality of screenplay as well as
the cinematographic effect of new introductory prehistoric, predatory birds that are close in anatomical resemblance to Therizinosaurus, with fearsome eyes of feathered carnivorous hunters that preyed upon humans flesh.
    In addition, prehistoric Mammoths &
the Sabre-toothed Tiger (Smilodon) were first introduced, making this epic movie visually impressive, unique & original.

This is perfect characterization of the dinosaurs and its something the Jurassic franchise has forgotten. In the original trilogy the dinosaurs are depicted as animals, the characters and movie explains and shows off each dinosaur and their personalities, the films shows us that these creatures are animals and not monsters. Each dinosaur has its own strengths and weaknesses and the films both explained and showed us that. This scene show the therizinosaurus is very territorial and aggressive but it blind or has very poor eyesight. It relies on sound, smell and touch to make up for its eyesight.

LAZY WRITING and because the plot says so.
In all honesty tho, this scene is pretty well done

Because She’s blind and hunts by sound waves and echolocation. Under water sounds are a blur to the surface for a most animals that use echolocation. She knew something was around and could hear it, she didn’t swing her claws because unless she knows Claire’s exact location, she won’t get her.

@@Frobilen I'm fully aware of this. I said it was a herbivore to explain why it didn't eat Claire, not just kill her.
