Houses falling down cliffs happens a lot in Southern California because for some reason people like to literally live on the edge in earthquake zones.
I assume its just much cheaper to buy/build property there and optimism bias makes people ignore the obvious risks.
Not american, but we always got taught that in california it was easier to live in zones that frequently got earthquakes because they would be smaller and less damaging than further along the fault line when once in a life time it could be utterly devastating

"How does a car just burst into flame?"
Supercars have very powerful engines that get very, very hot-much hotter than normal cars. The cooling systems of car engines rely on the car moving rather fast so that cool air is forced into the radiator and across the cooling fins. If someone revs the engine too hard for too long when the car is stationary, heat builds until the hoses and things in the engine melt and the liquids ignite. A normal car engine is more likely to seize up and just stop working until it cools down, but a supercar engine heats up so much more quickly that it skips simple failure and goes straight for catastrophe.
I would never want a super car but this gives me such bad anxiety. Also thanks for explaining

I think the issue with expensive disasters is that expensive is relative. A kid breaking a TV is a disaster for the kid and expensive for the parents. Meanwhile destroying a bridge with a boat is an order of magnitude more of a fuck up.
I much prefer seeing rich people mess up than average people. It hurts to see average people who definitely can’t afford to pay for the damage to their stuff but rich people? Love it. 😂

Rich people being stupid and having to pay out the ass to fix stuff makes me feel good. A vast majority of them have done nothing to get rich and are just living off their parents/generational wealth. I have absolutely no sympathy for them at all and laugh at their misfortune.

The underground parking one, the brake lights were on, someone was in there trying to hit the brakes, and that doesn't look easy to get out of
All of the boats electrics were destroyed. Every socket, every nav system, radar and electrical device (tv, fridge, computer, heating, cooker, light etc) in that the boat would have been destroyed. Probably not a write off but definitely a few hundred grand of repairs will be needing done.
The damage cats don't do to switch games they do to your furniture.

“Who do you call” in the USA I think its 811, pretty much every developed country has a specific number to call though, you call before you dig so they can tell you if there are power, sewage, steam, telecomms, gas, etc lines where you are digging. You know so you don’t accidentally breach a line and kill yourself while disrupting an important service.

I searched it up and there was thankfully no one in the car! The brake lights coming on is due to the electrics shorting out as the car is submerged in water.

A 1963 Chevrolet corvette can be worth up to or more than 98,300 and that is just in good condition for the car. 1980s and 1990s corvette can be found at reasonable prices but 50s and 60s corvette are where the money is at and they don’t have to be in great condition if the engine number and the car numbers are matching from factory people take that very seriously and can make the price go up as well.

In dollars, not entirely sure on American cars over seas markets but I assume that with British cars and bikes that have been imported over to the United States certain makes and models bring lots of money the same ways as certain American cars and classics.

The Lambo crash 20 mins after purchase - I would assume the guy would have had gap insurance (which is what you get when you buy a car and insure it for accidents so you get the cost of the car back, it lasts like 2/3 years) so I doubt it cost him anything.

#1 It's a fence pole driver. An aviation fuel fire is no joke, you need to put it out ASAP or you're going to lose millions of dollars worth of aircraft.
The tail hook is a braking system for planes landing on carriers. Aircraft carriers aren't as long as a normal runway, so the planes have to accelerate faster at takeoff to achieve flight before they fall into the ocean, and brake harder when landing so they stop before they fall into the ocean.
To give them enough acceleration at takeoff there is a pneumatic catapult on the deck that pushes the plane and fires it off the runway like out of a slingshot.
For landing, there is a steel cable laid across the runway, anchored to shock absorbers at the ends. Each plane has a metal hook coming out of its tail which drags along the deck when the plane lands and snags the steel cable when the plane drives over it, thus very quickly coming to a stop.

I will never pilot a plane for multiple reasons yet that jet missing the tail hook on the carrier is still one of my biggest fears.

Cars are worst investment. Depreciation alone, then only a handful of cars go up in value. Theen you add all of the maintenance costs.

Where I live on Tuesday a food truck rammed into a construction boarder and caught on fire causing traffic to be horrific and turned our power off
5:53 I've witnessed a fire like this before while on holiday to Spain, the one I witnessed got fire bombed outside my Hotel and they had to call the Fire Department and the Bomb Squad. It seems very similar to what I saw but I'm not going to assume anything. That fire seems really similar though.
