hi, if you want to learn about les paul guitars there is a great youtube video on five watt world "the gibson les paul- a short history". enjoy your quest!
I have been watching your videos on my TH-cam subscription for over a year. Great to hear some truth about audio. I live in Upstate SC. I have been looking for a TAD distributor. I grew up in Japan in the late '60s and 70's. I was fortunate to be shown the difference between consumer electronics manufactured faster and cheaper for the masses; and audiophile grade components assembled from high-grade, audio specific electronics. Thanks for exposing some of the BS. Also thanks for all the great advice.
There's a clear reason why. in the 70, 80s, 90s, people had money. Things ecomony/were good. Today your average person is barely living pay check to paycheck. You think the average person can afford thousands of dollars in hi-fi equipment plus thousands upon thousands for vinyl etc. It's NOT CHEAP. I just started a month ago. The gear I go to get started ( and I got decent stuff upfront because I didn't want to buy junk just to want to upgrade it weeks/months later) Technics SL-1200 MK5 $1400, Darlington Labs MP7B Phone Preamp- $900. A junk $300 turntable would never satisfy me personally. So you see I got some deals on my gear and it's all solid stuff. So roughly $4000 Canadian to get started if you can get some deals along the way otherwise make that over 5K retail. Then you still need vinyl which ok its gonna cost you a few grand depending on what your buying maybe a lot less but it all depends. I wanted all the classic trance which is more rare so I had to buy overseas. There's nothing local even in a big city. All was overseas so shipping was a big cost. So you're looking at 5k-7k startup to get good gear and a few dozen records. Your average person Does not have 5k to blow to listen to music they can listen to for free off TH-cam. Especially young people. I know their mentality because im only 27. They think it's ridiculous to even buy music. So forget about them paying thousands to get into vinyl/hi-fi. It's pretty rare. I just explained to them until you experience it or have some sort of connection to music you love you simply will never get it. And ive always been a major music lover so it made sense to me and I personally enjoy it. But im an outlier who had some money and made the jump. Yeah, I know. Using GaN devices developed for battery chargers... Orville and Wilbur Wright were the first to fly an airplane... So what ?? Oh lets not forget the Technics has PWM digital "noise shaping" and they came up with a new acronym for lowering distortion, otherwise known as feedback... Cool, but not my thing.. @@OCDHIFiGuy it's not a basic thing they do. Everything they do inside the technics su-r1000 is proprietary designs. They only use pwm at the end for digital to analog conversion. Feedback is done before that. And in the digital domain. Even the clock is put right beside the pwm output stage, less than a cm away for shortest possible connection. As a engineer myself. I find the technics su-r1000 to a bit of a masterpiece and a great value for a all in one solution. I haven't tried any better one box solution. And I've been through MANY! So many it's not even funny. And many of them costing 5 to 10 times as much. So something must be done better in the technics su-r1000 compared to all the other way over priced and hyped pieces of audio gear... Nothing wrong with using pwm at the output if you know how to do it.. If you have any advise for a one box solution I should try. Let me know. I will do my best to get my hands on it.
@@OCDHIFiGuy Luckily Technics doesn't really make anything for the home theater market so you will have to stick with Marantz. But likely as the only guy here who owns both the Technics SU-R1000 AND the ADG Audion Mkiii's I can tell you that the Technics is a masterclass in integrated amplifier design. As an amplifier only, I give the AGDs a small edge but it's nothing earthshattering. And it's $7,800 for just the amps, you are not getting the preamp, DAC or phono stage that complete the Technics package. And they do some things that no one else is doing. Not sure if you are picking on the "baby" Technics (which I have also had in my system for about a month) but if you are you are barking up the wrong tree. It's excellent as well and it's phenomenal for the price.
Hi Mikey, I understand that the audio designed amplifier boards are available "naked", and that's the way I would want them. The amp board built into the vacuum tube is cool looking, but can it be taken apart? How would you ever recap those boards if it can't come out of that glass envelope? Or is it designed as an appliance....once it stops working, it's done?
I have no idea what you mean "naked" .. you are a DIY Kit guy ?? 99% of buyers dont want to sling solder. Yes, the tubes can be opened and repaired on a component level, but an end user never needs to be worried about that. AGD will just send them a new tube.. How did your client discovered his Class D power amp’s power supply might be an issue? I’d imagine that such power supplies are a likely source of added EMI noise in one’s rig. You should devote one of your MAS to the importance of minimizing EMI/RFI noise in one's rig.
I scratch my head at this statement. Class D chip amps are inherently designed to filter out noise through negative feedback loops. The head designer of Hypex modules claimed that he solved noise a long time ago in an interview through circuit design. This shouldn't be a topic in 2023. And if we're still here it could mean a lot of things. Perhaps negative feedback loops add some artifacts in the original sound wave. Measurements don't show that because people only test for sine waves (not complex music).
@@user-xg6zz8qs3q It might not be the Class D audio* circuit per se. If the manufacturer is using an aftermarket off-the-shelf power supply, then the source of the EMI noise could be from that alone. It doesn’t matter how* the EMI noise got into the system. If it’s there, then that’s bad.
@@dragocelander6671 The Science crowd is testing for noise floors. And even the cheapest Fosi Audio V3 amp with an external power supply measures better than most AB amplifiers. So I am confused as heck why dirt cheap amplifiers produce better results on paper than some high end stuff which sounds better.
First off Drago is talking about a Power Supply brick belching high frequency back on the AC Line.. Has nothing to do with the amps. Next thing is great measurements dont mean good sound as we all know and can attest to.. What are you buying ? Sonic performance or a specification number ?
We know Alberto's 4 and 5 figure products are quality----it may have helped for you to point out the brands that are actually just "scrapping". Lucky Alberto was paired with the Mytek guy at a show I went to----because Alberto was very condescending.
Alberto does not pair with Mytek. No reason to. He makes his own DAC. And yep, hes smarter than you or I so he gets frustrated with idiotic audio shows Im sure. Ive heard Mark levinson tell someone their question was stupid.. This is what happens when you put very intelligent guys into the herd to deal with the cows.. (this is an example of a condescending view, but there's truth in it)
I have more thoughts rushing through my head since yesterday. I can't deny anything you said in the video. I am just offering my frugal internet shopper perspective. Scrappers don't use such poor EVAL boards. Scrappers buy amplifier modules like the ICEpower 50ASX2 board for about $140. They seem to be built well, and they measure well (the only thing that matters these days, but I'm cynical). The EVAL board in the video looks so cheap and flimsy, it's not representative. Regardless, the proof is in the listening. I would kill for a comparison between a scrapper amp with a Hypex module and a "Hi-Fi" amp costing thousands. The 1700€ Cabasse Abyss is an empty box using a tiny ICEpower module and some circuit boards for inputs and streaming. What a joke!
Bottom line is the proof is in the listening. This kills your point about measurement. Measurement does not matter when it comes to listening experience.. Ice power is NOT scrapper parts, its VERY developed. Eval boards in my example are totally basic, yet I know companies that use them..
Of late it has dawned on me how you work. Your not necessarily into hifi that costs alot because people will pay but more hifi that is value for money, so if it is expensive it should in build and design reflect the cost so i do not look upon you as ocd now but ethical. So your true name should be "ethical hifi guy".
Ka BAM !! if you hold this in mind when you go back and watch my videos, it will all make sense... You nailed it.. In fact, I own ethicalcorporations.org (even though its parked right now)

@@OCDHIFiGuy Yeah, sorry for trolling unconsciously. But noise is something that you can measure confidently. It's an obvious metric.
It keeps increasing in price.
Yes !
Yo yo yo... Morning Bro! ☕️
Good Morning !
@@OCDHIFiGuy Interesting. So you're saying that ICEpower boards are a great deal? Everyone may as well be using them...
Thank you
Welcome
Buy a well-known brand as simple as that what i always did the last 55 years
So buy Sony then..
Didn't you say on onenof your videos that putting a crystal on your amp would clean up the sound ....😮....😢......😂....🎉 ok mikey.
Nope I said it changes it. Try it. Lol. Stay off the buds and you'll learn that quartz is piezoelectric and soaks up electromagnetic energy.
lol, been watching to much reefer madness? Ok, I let you suck up whatever you want bro. Have a good day sir.
In fact, I own ethicalcorporations.org (even though its parked right now)
people love fake stuff
Why do you think Porn is so successful ??
Yeb!! Most of the time it's better than the real. (Prettier, unlimited selection, almost anywhere anytime you want and etc...)@@OCDHIFiGuy
