I personally feel that it may look bad on us, like we don't even care to try to answer. Of course, it depends a lot on the external supervisor's perspective. But I agree with your point of "putting us off" if we say something terribly wrong. Cheers!
Hey! I understand your feeling. But again, I refer to questions you truly do not know the answers to. In such cases, if you try to pretend like you do it will send out a bad signal. No one knows everything. A good researcher is someone that that is aware of what he/she knows. For all other questions you should nail them or be able to provide some clue. All the best! You will be fine!

@@laynazl Start with an interesting case related to your topic and frame it into a question. Like: "Did you know that in 1990...".. It will capture the attention of the reviewers. And finish with thoughts on the future of your topic. And don't forget to smile :)

Hello Prof. Francisco I wanted to say a big thank you. I did my final defense on the 28th September and its was simply amazing. I took all the advice from this video and guess what I got a clapping ovation from the supervising Professor and defence panel. I even listen to the song again 😄. Now I am working towards my application for a PhD and I am positive I will get one soon (on scholarship). I hope I will come back to this video a few years from now for my Thesis defense or any other new video you may have made. Once again thank you and I celebrate you.

I personally feel that it may look bad on us, like we don't even care to try to answer. Of course, it depends a lot on the external supervisor's perspective. But I agree with your point of "putting us off" if we say something terribly wrong. Cheers!
Hey! I understand your feeling. But again, I refer to questions you truly do not know the answers to. In such cases, if you try to pretend like you do it will send out a bad signal. No one knows everything. A good researcher is someone that that is aware of what he/she knows. For all other questions you should nail them or be able to provide some clue. All the best! Hello Prof. Francisco I wanted to say a big thank you. I did my final defense on the 28th September and its was simply amazing. I took all the advice from this video and guess what I got a clapping ovation from the supervising Professor and defence panel. I even listen to the song again 😄.
Now I am working towards my application for a PhD and I am positive I will get one soon (on scholarship).
I hope I will come back to this video a few years from now for my Thesis defense or any other new video you may have made.
