I disagree, only from the perspective of my legal experience in appellate legal practice… It is a little bit concerning that there is zero check and balance on the highest court in our land, the last word….
The Supreme Courts’ only role, is merely to interpret the law, based on different facts or situations and apply the interpretation in that full fact pattern.
The Supreme Court, does not have any checks or balance safeguards, as the other two branches of government…
So, this is more than troublesome to me, as one who is blessed to have framework to understand the dynamics, of law and government bc i attended law school and studied government, The constitution, etc.
But this is not politics today. That’s hat is use to be called.

Not an appointee by the President and agreement by Congress but a real election by the people, like voting for a police chief or DA. And also change the stupid system of the presidential election, where you don’t vote for the president but for a representative of a college which will vote for the president. It is an ancient system which doesn’t reflect the current possibilities. With the current system a candidate can win the presidential election without the popular vote and the candidate who does get the popular vote can not. This is outrageously undemocratic.

Justice Jackson is the only Justice who so legally bluntly and sensibly got right to the point and stated what we know to be the big issue here - giving a president the right to commit crimes and never be held accountable.

That the problem with all you people what you care about is your fleeings. Miss Jackson doesn't get to rewrite the United states constitution she there to uphold it. It's ridiculous to think the founding fathers did see this happening and by mistake given Congress the power of impeachment and the Senate the power of trial and conviction. So it's our government that we must now fear. Let the American people determine the fate if the president in November. Because let face the fact no president in American history was worthy of the presidency. That God America is not a democracy or Triump would have never become president or if he did wouldn't serve all his term because he would be in a prison or dead. That what people do in democracy that why all you Democrats keep talking about democracy because you know you can become dictators. My 14 year old son was asking me today why is this even up for debate. I quote “Mom, no one is above the law! Not even the *President* .” I felt insane trying to neutrally explain how the SCOTUS chooses to take cases and why it’d be months before we have a decision. Now he thinks they’re corrupt. I never lied to my kids about Santa but, but here I am trying to explain away what’s happening.
They are corrupted judges for sure ,it’s very unfortunate that our kids have to witness such failure from the Supreme Court !
My advice would be don't explain it away. Your child is intelligent and needs to know what is happening. I never thought I would see the seeds of dictatorship begin to sprout in our country but they are, and things have a real possibility of becoming very ugly.
Alito is arguing openly and explicitly that in his view you can't run a country if no one is above the law. The President, he says, must be above the law. So... so much for that idea.
