At 7:40 u said "... What looks like a mass relay in the background" i think that looks like the citadel because theres two arms stretched out like the citadel where as a mass relay has two arms one on top of the other
The original tali concept makes sense to me I always imagined the quarians being considerably pale due to never being exposed to the sun. Also possibly hairless to make living in a suit more convenient
MrHulthen actually omitted some info at this part. You can read the full blog online, but here's a direct quote from that part: "This image was purely speculative on my part. I imagined the galaxy changed by the synthesis choice. Because life and technology were joined (and I didn’t know the Mass Relays would be destroyed yet) I imagined that there would be no more need for space ships. Any creature could just link in with the nearest relay and jump to any world they chose, surface to surface. This would start changing the biology of every creature in the galaxy as they would no longer be limited to any one environment. Here are some Asari/Salarian/Human/? in the far, far future taking a carefree stroll in the grass." It's interesting that early concepts blurred the lines between organics and synthetics so much, allowing for an organic to upload there conscious between star systems, going so far as to no longer even see the distinction between races. Terrifying stuff. In my opinion the synthesis ending goes against the core values that the series conveys. Merging all into one singular biomass; discarding the ideals, the culture, the very essence of all sentient life. Regardless of the consent of an entire galaxy. The star child is a liar, an unreliable narrative. A rampant machine set to solve an impossible task, its reapers, a pathetic attempt at a final solution. Like asking a child to make the perfect meal, so they just throw every ingredient they can find into the mixing pot and stir. Every flavor washed away, all the majesty of life lost completely. A woeful pathetic attempt, the leviathans final failure. It's "synthesis" a last ditch effort to irreparably fuck a dying galaxy. All biodiversity lost. A so called Utopian paradise, if only they knew what horrors lie in wait.
They also kept the same look for all harbingers. During the makings of the game each one was suppose to be unique because the harvanger explaind that each Reaper is "independent country"
I always wondered why we didn't see Reaper versions of the Elcor and Hanar. Honestly, I don't think either would be creepier than the Reaper creatures we did see.
We need more terrifying less humanoid races in mass effect, why does everything have to be super cutesy? The angaras have puppy dog and cat faces for Christ sake 🤦♂️
Well, real aliens would be something much more horrifying probably so i think Talis original design is very good. Not too humanoid, but also not something made by Lovecraft
NO! The romance between Joker and EDI must never be tarnished, infact there should be more romances between other characters besides the protag in future games.

ME3 does not exist. ME2 ends after you do the side mission that has you find a second beacon. You will have already ran into the Asari from Zhu's Hope by this point. Fly back and pick her up, take her and the new beacon to the citadel, chain the council to their fucking chairs and make them see the truth. ME3 Starts with the galaxy being prepared and the citadel being dismantled.
I always thought the adjutants in the omega dlc were reaperized Elcor since they were hulking massive creatures with those thick but not too long tentacles on their face.
I don't think the Reapers were waiting for judgement, but they were all enforcing their will on Shepherd to not destroy them. Don't forget that the Leviathan are capable of enforcing thier will too.
people just can't accept that beneath that mask and sweet and curious nature, Tali is a monstrosity of exposed muscle and skinless mass suspended in probiotic juice. And it's ok to not conform to the traditional beauty standards and still be a beautiful person
Correct mi if I'm wrong, but isn't Codex specifically noted, that quarians (exept humans) are the only race that have head hair. I might be wrong about Codex, but i played OG trilogy so many times, I'm 100% sure this fact was mentioned somewhere in the game. Didn't play Legendary edition yet.
The old concept for the shadow broker looks just generic "evil alien" imo. The yahg are actually really interesting, as they are essentially super observant, super aggressive pack animals. Its easy to see how one would make a good shadow broker
Hello everyone! I was always so curious to see how they thought and designed the characters we love throughout the games development! What a fascinating video! Thank you so. Much I have a question : does someones has any infos (or maybe the title) of the background sound in the last part of the video (the part about the catalyst) Seems like a slowed version of the map theme but it is gorgeous to me! Definitely want to listen more it! Keep up the good words and take care of you pals!
If you're going to base the Shadow Broker on a Greek God, it should be Athena IMO. You need a blend of conflict AND intelligence to do that job. Or Eris, but as a fun twist on the idea of discord and order.
3:16 is more looks like a krogan rather than elcor because of the bipedal, the leg bent and huge hump. Elcor have larger front leg. the smaller one probably a salarian.
Okay, but on the Huo-maan, we've fought plenty of fleshy monsters before in games. Imagine having to interact one outside of combat. Like, this walking nightmare is just trying to go about its day on the Citadel or something, so you have to be civil with it.
I think ME fans were robbed not getting to see other Reaper designs like the Elcor or Volos. I can kind of understand why we never got to see any Quarian Reapers as they were mainly confined to the Flotilla, but we should’ve seen more Reaoer variants especially later in the game when the Reapers had controlled most of the galaxy.
Mass Effect 3 had a big missed opportunity with not letting us have a mission on Dekuuna. Fighting alongside Elcor with their giant miniguns and rocket launchers would have been so fun. There should have been way more missions where you actually fight with your allies in big battles.
It would have been nice if BioWare had made an outfit for EDI featuring a Human paint job like Dr. Eva Coray had. After all, this model was an infiltration unit.
So I’m on my second play through of Mass Effect Legendary edition and I’m currently trying to decide who I should romance, Ashley or Liara. I picked Liara my first play through but what about this time? Liara is my personal favorite and always was on the original version, but a side of me wants to romance Ashley. Someone help me decide please
Ashley's romance is well written for ME1 but her prejudiced attitude makes romancing her in ME2 & ME3 an excercise in frustration. Also you can start a romance with Liara in ME3 in the first few visits to the citadel if you turn down Garrus & Ashley if you previously romanced either in ME2 & it's great coz Liara is heavily involved in ME3's plot. Other ME2 LI's like Tali might comment if romanced that "you're not exactly alone" but it has no other consequences.
Ashley in ME2 and 3 is like having a crisis of faith, she spent her entire career following orders and not deviating from Alliance loyalty. Her arc is really satisfactory but she suffered from a rushed development as well.

7:48 you clearly haven’t put much thought into what really happens to people in the synthesis ending, remember just how much of the galaxy is conquered by the reapers by the end of ME3 and they don’t take prisoner, anyone that’s taken by the reapers dead or alive is best case left to rot or worse case used to make one of the monsters we fight. With the synthesis ending anyone that was a husk or cannibal gets returned to sentience but not reverted to their old form so we for a short time (before they end themselves) we have people walking around as a Turian/krogan hybrid that’s in constant pain or several Batarians with a human grafted to them in place of a arm that’s now a living weapon that can remember who it used to be, and to make it all more fun anything that used to be a reapers drone (I’m just going to call them drones but I’m talking about all reaper forces that are not main reapers) remember what they did while been drones, they remember been humans or Asari or Salarians and been turned into the things they are now, they remember killing their friends and families, and the synthesis ending is considered the “”best”” ending? Biowear managed to unintentionally make one of the worst cosmic horror endings to a story and because they apparently don’t understand their own story (despite some of the devs actually putting it into the game as you are going though the Cerberus base, the one disguised as a refugee camp, when you hear a woman that gets turned into a husk but isn’t under reaper control so she can still scream) they tried to say that this is the good ending?! Synthesis is in my and quite a lot of the fandoms worst most disturbing of the three (4) endings, at least with control shepherds Will is still repressing the minds of all the things that used to be reapers so it’s more like a bad dream to them.
Hey non-Halo fans, 2:54 isn't a voice effect. Dee Bradley Baker is doing all of that with his voice in one take. Hey, nothing wrong with having a headcanon of that shadow broker being the previous one who had the Yahg as a pet
Why didn’t the Elcor reaper look like a tank, you know like how the elcor ambassador explained his fleet in ME3??? Basically them with big guns on their backs, with auto turrets is how he described them.
The first half of 3 is really well done but as the game moves on it seems to get progressively lazy. Really wish they were allowed to release it when it was finished and polished.
I don't know what you mean by your very last statement about the synthesis ending and not needing mass relays. They would still be needed to physically move something through space. Now if synthesis makes each individual's body into a platform that hosts consciousness, then I suppose you could just send your data. It's never really explained in ME1 2 or 3 how FTL communication is done (one exception: the Normandy SR-2 has a quantum entangled comm device, but it's a hotline to the Illusive man and not capable of reaching another source unless another quantum entangled pair of plot devices is created.) It seems to me that light speed communication is only in play when the writers remember that it's a thing, then it's not when they don't want it to be. It's very much an issue for the Andromeda colonists... 600 year communication lag and all that, but during Omega's D-Day, Aria signals her fleet through the relay (by using the relay?) instantly. Anyway, back to your statement about being a demigod after synthesis... it basically makes people into geth. Though, I really don't believe the reapers would allow organics any agency in any scenario. If you really think about the 3 (main) endings, both synthesis and control could very well be lies just to get Shepard to kill himself... having one's DNA rewritten to make it like synthetics sounds an awful lot like becoming a husk, or becoming exactly like the Borg of Star Trek. The catalyst is not trustworthy, and the way the thing smirks as Shepard chooses to vaporize himself by becoming a human circuit tells me that it's reaffirmed it's superiority over organics. EDI would understand... The Geth would understand, as it is the exact mirror to Legion's argument... dare I say, a paragon Shepard could convince them to volunteer. Anyway, I'm off topic now. Keep up the great work!

Hell Garrus is the most popular husbando in the series and he is clearly not human. I have seen some really amazing fan art of what people would have done differently.
Reaper elcor: "menacingly" I am the harbinger of your destruction.
The Huo-Mon could have been a fun race idea for Andromeda. Have them be a race that originally lived as a single mass but after encountering the Milky Way races, they try to emulate them and humans especially. That includes the good and the bad, but could have been a fun idea
7:35 correction, that's not a mass relay, it's the citadel.
Just thought I should point that out. Lol
The shadow broker concept art can be seen on the walls of the lab from the leviathan dlc
Yup!
Maybe they were supposed to be prior shadow brokers
Good stuff. That huo mon race looks terrifying.
yeah, absolute nightmares. thanks btw! : D
I don't think the synthesis ending makes mass relays obsolete, remember even the reapers have to use the relays for ftl travel.
Just like us they use them as a highway or shortcut
MrHulthen actually omitted some info at this part. You can read the full blog online, but here's a direct quote from that part:
"This image was purely speculative on my part. Here are some Asari/Salarian/Human/? in the far, far future taking a carefree stroll in the grass."
It's interesting that early concepts blurred the lines between organics and synthetics so much, allowing for an organic to upload there conscious between star systems, going so far as to no longer even see the distinction between races.
The Golden Lotus concept is beautiful and so much more interesting
Menacingly: I will tear you apart, Shepard.
Only if LE was actually remastered. It would have been awesome to see some cut content restored.
Absolutely great video as ever as well!
That early concept to tali is horrifying, thats why my headcanon for tali's face is the one from the TRM mod for the OG trilogy 😅
Indeed, SharkyTali 😆
We need more terrifying less humanoid races in mass effect, why does everything have to be super cutesy? The angaras have puppy dog and cat faces for Christ sake 🤦♂️
@@matthewanthony4606 i agree lol
Well, real aliens would be something much more horrifying probably so i think Talis original design is very good. Not too humanoid, but also not something made by Lovecraft
7:40 Exactly what I was thinking.
Like Venom but with more tech.
NO! The romance between Joker and EDI must never be tarnished, infact there should be more romances between other characters besides the protag in future games.
2:13 I could’ve gone my whole life without thinking about his “Tiny TIM” thank you very much
The huge flawed on the indoctrination theory is that the Prothean VIs that can scenes even a little bit of indoctrination such as in Illos and Thesia didn't trace Shepard to be indoctrinated
Reaperized Elcor would've been terrifying and amazing.
You know that mass relay in the background at the end was actually the citadel
4:30 RIP Tali'Zorah vas Normandy
😂
Becomes a god reluctantly sitting on a throne… where have I heard that before.. ?
The reaperised "Elcor" looks more Krogan to me tbh
I always thought the adjutants in the omega dlc were reaperized Elcor since they were hulking massive creatures with those thick but not too long tentacles on their face.
Exactly because of those tentacles people think they are inusannon husks, judging by how they look like from the statues on Ilos
5:45 Hell Yeah now that's a Tali worth romancing!
I think the first concept art of the Shadow Broker can be found on the wall in Dr. Bryson's lab when you play the Leviathan DLC.
Reaper Elcor "Tyrant" and Shadow Broker concept art are fire.
Well, there is only space for ONE god of war in the Milky Way - and the name is -Blasto- Commander Shepard!
Much
I have a question : does someones has any infos (or maybe the title) of the background sound in the last part of the video (the part about the catalyst)
Seems like a slowed version of the map theme but it is gorgeous to me! Definitely want to listen more it!
Keep up the good words and take care of you pals!
I'm glad i picked up legendary an played through, Now where's ME4! Or 5!
Mass Effect 4?
I have good news and bad news ...
"Headcanon Tali" looks like something that would have its face split open like a flower filled with teeth. Kinda glad it didn't become actually canon.
Would be so awesome and creepy to have all the Reapers stop and watch you while you talk to the Catalyst.
Personal opinion, but Edi looks better with the Edi uniform mod, which gives her an alliance uniform
I missed the Reaper taunting "I am an indoctrinated god!"
6:37 The EDI on the left looks kinda like Ash from Titanfall 2/Apex Legends.
I would like to have seen the biotic god as a reaper.. would have been cool.
*breathes* YOU ARE NOTHING
*breathes* BUT A GENETIC
*breathes* MUTATION
even shepherd doesnt sleep with the pilot's waifu
It would have been nice if BioWare had made an outfit for EDI featuring a Human paint job like Dr. Eva Coray had. After all, this model was an infiltration unit.
I'm really happy they didn't go with the more alien looking Tali. That would have been a disturbing reveal haha.
Man... Shepard gradually being changed by Reaper tech was a solid concept. They should have ran with that.
@@janeshepard9549 Alright, thanks!
Ashley in ME2 and 3 is like having a crisis of faith, she spent her entire career following orders and not deviating from Alliance loyalty. Her arc is really satisfactory but she suffered from a rushed development as well.
Replay the game as a Renegade with Ashley ;)
@@MrHulthen Someday ;)
I liked the stock photo of Tali. It looked more real and suited her.
Imagine if Bioware stayed with Microsoft and did not sell themselves to Ea. It woulda been bloody glorious
The turians remind me of scaley cats. Never birds
A bald tali looks like Assage Centre's from star wars
And the elcor reaper looks bad ass!
For me the turians always looked turtle like with their becs. They remind me a lot to my turtle
@@anvime739 yea I can see turtles too .
well they do purr when they talk
Asajj Ventress
Heh heh reminds of Grunt's commentary back at the Citadel with the lively party scenario after how he hit the showers hard literally.
I want to see the Huo-mon in Mass effect 4
I’m P3891 and this is my favorite channel on TH-cam.
I may be in the minority, but I prefer the old stock photo of Tali over the legendary pic.
Me too. I like the weird lines in her skin
she could've been a real bombshell tbh (she already is tho lol)
This ideas had a lot of potential, specially for the indoctrination theory
Yeah, the Corrupted Shepard would literally have been that
"Let me touch you" 😂😂😅
Villainously, prepare to to harvested, human.
I kinda wish they had made some of these updates to the LE. As long as it felt like a enhanced directors cut edition
MrHulthen: My only complaint is that you can't romance EDI.
Me: AGREED.
Romancing EDI ...? Yeah, you lost me there but Dr Chakwas... Well... Maybe 😉😉
Hnngh gmilf 🤣
Being In lesbians with a space ship? Sign me up!
@@MrHulthen I'm all in for her accent
@@MrHulthen Posh Tottie.. Surely I'm not the only one who thought this... Especially after we got drunk Sharing memories and provided one .. Actually TWO of my favorite quotes moments in the whole trilogy...
1.
"Or, hell, maybe it's you. Shepard, our immovable center. A place for a person to stop and catch *her* breath. Or maybe I'm just happily drunk. Would it hurt if it was simple like that for once?"
2. (my fave out of the two)
Shepard ~ To the people we care for.
Chakwas ~ May we never take them for granted
These lines are so much 🎯
And admiral Hackett… Hackett out
7:48 you clearly haven’t put much thought into what really happens to people in the synthesis ending, remember just how much of the galaxy is conquered by the reapers by the end of ME3 and they don’t take prisoner, anyone that’s taken by the reapers dead or alive is best case left to rot or worse case used to make one of the monsters we fight.
In my headcanon Quarians have rastafari dreadlocks.
Love the reaper elcor designs
Jo, shepard has become the god emperor of mankind. That's kinda cool.
>Shepards actions put humans on the top of the Reapers shitlist
>Reapers turn humans into... Husks
Were the Reapers coping?
Hey non-Halo fans, 2:54 isn't a voice effect. Dee Bradley Baker is doing all of that with his voice in one take.
Hey, nothing wrong with having a headcanon of that shadow broker being the previous one who had the Yahg as a pet
The Thing similar looking alien would have been cool, finding a way to accept someone that's different from you.
That's not a Mass Relay in the background, that's the Citadel
right!
I don't want the option to romance EDi And never did I thought her and Jeff or joker Made the perfect side character romance
Why didn’t the Elcor reaper look like a tank, you know like how the elcor ambassador explained his fleet in ME3??? Basically them with big guns on their backs, with auto turrets is how he described them.
Reaper Quarians and Hanar would’ve been cool
The first half of 3 is really well done but as the game moves on it seems to get progressively lazy. Really wish they were allowed to release it when it was finished and polished.
3:50 Eh, I like the arms and mask, but I like final product more.
thank god they didnt make quarians look like voldermort
That came from the artist himself, as he projected beings of synthesis basically just jumping bodies (atleast that's how i perceive it)
