Just saw them tonight in ATL. They still rock, dammit. They all but blew the roof off of a small venue (Smith’s Olde Bar). And you could tell they were still having the time of their lives.
Grew up with the bassist (kevin baldes) who lived a few houses down from me. I clearly remember playing baseball in college and while driving to school I heard "My Own Worst Enemy" on KROQ and I absolutely lost my mind in joy, it was so awesome.
My husband mentioned Lit was on the lineup for a festival he was looking and I was so excited to see they were still playing. I just thought they were done and never looked them up. I did some digging tonight and found their country BS and then found your video. Boo to their country stuff. I LOVED their 2nd and 3rd albums so much. I got my hopes up thinking they were still making GOOD music lol.
Saw them sometime last year at Smart Financial Centre in Sugar Land and enjoyed their 25 minute set. No country music was played that night. There is a God
Hahaha great doc! About to go watch them play Texas Tech's tailgate, Raidergate. Last year Gin Blossoms came! That was honestly a really good show and they were humble and hilarious about being in Lubbock for that. Looking forward to hearing a couple classics and walking away! XD
I saw Lit at Summerland Tour around 2017. they were sensational. incredible sound and energy still. I try to find out whenever and wherever they tour now
Not gunna lie besides their first album and all their new material. The 2nd 3rd 4th and 5th albums. Were all solid records i still jam them from time to time! A place in the sun is still a banger album!!
@@STAUNCHTV Do you know who made the Techno/ Guitar riff sample that starts with the Shane / Frog scene and continues through out the movie? I've gone through the soundtrack maybe I missed something. Thanks!
Lit is one of the best live bands ive ever seen, and ive seen a lot of live bands. Their music is made to be played live. I don't mind that they have changed music and fads throughout the years. They are song writers. They can do anything. Its about the music, not the look of fad. Of the Popoff brothers want to write a dam reggae song id listen to it, because you can bet it would be a pretty dam good reggae song. They are very talented song writers. Great band. Ive loved Lit ever since I saw them live in NC back in 2000
Great video!! Most people don't know half tge things about Lit that you covered here, even people who grew up in that time. So as a hardcore Lit fan I really appreciate it.🖤 And yeah they had to change the name to lit because of the band stained. Nice work!
Atomic is such a solid album. That and A Place In The Sun inspired me to start writing my own songs when I discovered I could play and sing every song of theirs.
I love “Lit” Fullerton Ca. Hero’s. I use to hang out at the Slide Bar and Jeremy was the coolest guy ever. It was walking distance from my apartment. So many amazing nights great shows. And met a lot of musicians. Jonny 2 Bags(SocialD) Chris Shiflett (FooFighter) Tom Dumont (NoDoubt) to name a few. Best few years of my life.
It was Ajay and Kevin who met in school, and started Razzle, Ajay was drummer and they had another friend who was the singer. Then bit later Ajay became singer and Allen joined the band....soon later Ajays brother Jeremy joined. All this while in high school. Jeremy and Allen were already out of h.s. being the oldest. I just came across this and tripping out on it kinda. Lol haveing been friends with them since h.s. i wonder if they have seen this lol. Its been a wild ride for the past 35 yrs i guess its been already. Just saw them last week..was an awesome show! 🤘🏼
Nah man I supported their country record on PledgeMusic when they were recording it. I was happy to hear whatever they were going to put out. It’s still one of my favorite records.
They did an AFES tour for the troops in 07 I think. The military assigned me as their roadie. Best Time of my life. Lots of booze and staying lit😊. Jeremy wasn't there for some reason
9:37. I realize this stuff is different than prior albums, but it is good music and it blends post grunge pop/punk with country. If they had peppered a few of these on albums, it would have been better received. I'm going to see them tomorrow. I would welcome hearing a song or 2 from the "country" album
What happened to lit, they bought a bar in Fullerton called the slide bar and it is mostly rock gear everywhere and we got hammered there every weekend in the mid 00s. Slide bar in downtown Fullerton is the business
OK, first the fuck of all, the 90's were great, through and through, and so were the first two Lit LPs. I'm glad they are still doing their thing even though I lost track of them. I threw on some of the more recent stuff last year and it was better than I expected.
Wait a minute you compared Less Than Jake to Lit?? I'm sorry but I'll have to disagree with you there. Less Than Jake was a Ska band that to the untrained may have a surface resemblance to Lit, but is and was a solid band. Less Than Jake inspired a TON of bands that became pretty big. Lit was never that influential. Otherwise, great video!
Why do so many people think they weren't influential? That whole sound in the late 90's came from them, but everyone thinks it was blink or sum 41. Ajay himself even stated this at a live show (LIT - looks like they were right live 2007). I swear the worst part of being a lit fan is everyone thinks they are rip offs, but they're Popoffs lol. And I've already had the debate with a bunch of friends and had to show them the discography and how the songs they put out or recorded predate the bands that everyone thinks or accredit to starting that sound. Please just trust me. Man it hurts every time I have to explain this 😪.
I thought this video was going to be insulting towards Lit…. But it was actually very evenhanded with them and informative. Good job with it. There 3rd album always struck me as an interesting change in style. They had so much popularity off of their 2nd…. The change in sound for the 3rd seemed bold.
I try to shes light on these lesser known bands that I legit think had something going. In serial Joe's case, I feel the label let them down. They were no worse that amy other alternative ish band of the time. Put them on the american pie soundtrack and they would probably still be playing summerland fests or something.
I absolutely love Lit. Even the country album. Totally random story, A Place in the Sun was the cd I put on the day I was planning to commit suicide. I still think it saved my life. And the new album, Tastes Like Gold? Absolutely epic!!!
They got eaten by a 50ft tall reptile woman. And the leftovers were put in a zip lock bag. The bag was tossed out the window of a car somewhere outside of Nashville. R.I.P..... Zippy.
This band is opening for Buckcherry at the free concert this coming up weekend where I live. I plan to skip them and just show up in time for Buckcherry . Also I laughed so hard when you said “Korn sucks”. Back when these bands were popular I hated Korn but all my friends loved them. Then I heard a song on the radio one day I thought was by Korn so I told everyone I found one song I like. When I started singing the lyrics they all laughed and said that’s not Korn that’s Disturbed lol I’m like no wonder I liked it 😂. I’m still a Disturbed fan it’s still a joke with me and my friends whenever that song comes on everyone yells “ that’s the only Korn song Joanna likes”. Which causes confusion new people 😂. I am a fan of the song My own misery but that’s the only one so just can’t sit through a whole set for one song that’s somewhat bearable sorry Lit but I will be rocking out to all lit up again with Buckcherry 😂
Wow. When you look in the dictionary under Inauthenticity, it says: see LIT. Truly the mid to late 90s gave us some of the worst music and culture since The Carpenters.
Just saw them tonight in ATL. They still rock, dammit. They all but blew the roof off of a small venue (Smith’s Olde Bar). And you could tell they were still having the time of their lives.
One of my favorite bands ever still!
Breaking News!! They are back to their roots and playing hard again. LIT is by far one of my favorites. They make music, and they are very talented.
The new cd is fucking good
Calm down young lady
do they have a new album?
Their newest album is my favorite since A Place in the Sun!
I saw Lit when they opened for No Doubt in the early 200s and they were badass live. Glad you did this and can't wait to see more docs
RIP Allen

Great Video as always. I'm patiently waiting for the BCB PT 3 documentary!!

@@yinko1024 i will look into that! i think it was part of the score. the score guitar stuff was actually done by a guy from The Rembrandts!!!
@@STAUNCHTV Thank you so much!!!
Are you kidding me? 37 years later and they're still play this shit on The BUZZ ! DAMN cancer sucks mang.

What was the song in the beginning
It's called Miserable.
They did an AFES tour for the troops in 07 I think. The military assigned me as their roadie. Best Time of my life. Lots of booze and staying lit😊. Jeremy wasn't there for some reason
personaly a place in the sun and atomic are the 2 best albums for me

Got no room to talk shit with your dorky looking profile pic.
SUBSCRIBE AND SHARE DAYMMIT!!!
Lmao this was great. I had no idea that they went country. You nailed it in the beginning talking about how cookie cutter this era was.

I've been listening to Lit since 1999 and These Are The Days is one of their best albums.
That first line. Haha. I love 90’s alternative! Funny enough, that’s what led me to punk rock.
oh yeah i like alot of that shit too haha

Always loved this band!!!!🤟🏼
Youd probably do better without ur personal comments id like to see what you created on yiur own instead of insulting people s life work
Who did I insult!! Uh oh!!
Wow you're so kool for not liking the popular music all the unwashed masses enjoyed. Bet your so fun at parties.
