    I had a DR800 from 2005-2007, this video brings back so many memories. I think still probably my favorite bike to date. thanks for sharing

      Great to hear Chris! She's a lovely character allright. They're quite cheap at the moment, depending on where you are, but I suspect they'll soon rise in price

    I have the last DR 750 with a brake disc at the back. A cool machine with a soul, you need to have a lot of feeling to start it in the morning and not discharge the battery :)

      Ah yes the Sr41! Those are getting rare, except if you're in the US cause that's the only models brought to NA. Definitely a cool machine, also the generation of DR's closest to the original Dakar race bike

      They're nice! Quite different from Harley though. There's always one more motorcycle you need to satisfy all needs haha. Your English is no problem

      Ah, a fellow DR 800 rider! Yes passed through Antwerp and Brussels during my trip, a nice wee country! The port of Antwerpen was impressive, had difficulty finding any good dirt roads though...

    Nice! I have the same bike.
    I traveled around Belgium with it, 2 summers ago. Next summer hopefully in Scandinavia.
    How did you find all those gravel roads?

    • @hujeta6851
      @hujeta6851  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Cheers! :) I had a few days in Belgium on this trip, and some parts of the video are shot in Belgium. In Sweden there's no trouble finding gravel roads, pretty much everywhere when it gets rural it's gonna be gravel roads... TET app/ map is also useful. As for rest of Scandinavia I don't know how much gravel/ off road possibility there is.

    Is it possible to rebuild engine for these old masterpieces nowdays? I mean ere there enough spares available or its just all from china and others dr800?

    • @hujeta6851
      @hujeta6851  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think there's not really a problem getting parts. There is a German shop, Dr big shop, run by Rallye profile Stefan Hessler who still supplies some parts and also performance parts. I believe he also does engine jobs.

    Great vid, any chance you can list the pros and cons of the journey? Is it suitable for tall people 6ft2?

    • @hujeta6851
      @hujeta6851  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks! I'm 6ft and it's great for me, the first generation (750) had less knee room though with the bigger tank. It was a great trip, only downside is it ended!

    Still watching your phenomenal video from time to time. Always when my desire for a new motocycle trip is omnipresent in my head. Just planning a trip with my DR800 to scotland in the summer. What are your plans for 2024? Do we get another video? :)
    Ride safe

      Thanks so much man, really heartwarming to hear. I toured the Highlands a few years ago, on a GSX650F, and it was brilliant. Glencoe pass is unbelievable. Don't forget mosquito repellant!! I'd love to make a new video, got some more film equipment and honed skills now. My DR800 is in poor condition though, not sure if I'll keep it, get a new one or try another model alltogether.

      Thanks for your hints. Looking forward to the trip :)
      How long do you own the DR and what would be an alternative for you, when you get a new one? I myself just love the simplicity and the looks of these 90s dual sports. Where are you from? Here in Germany you get those bikes in good condition for little money.

      @@triumph4425 I had it for a year where I rode it actively, it was sitting unused for longer than that... Yes agree the 90's dakar inspired bikes are really cool. The DR's seems really undervalued overall in Europe at the moment. I just picked up an xt660r so hopefully there'll be some new videos of that this summer. I'm in Scandinavia btw

      @@hujeta6851 Great! I travelled New Zealand on a XT660R - very reliable and comfy bike! Where from Scandinavia (if you don't mind me asking) - I'm a huge Sweden and Norway Fan. Did you travel the TET?
      Looking forward for your videos this summer.

      @@triumph4425 Oh that must've been awesome. I'm in Sweden. Haven't done much of the TET yet, but that's gonna change for sure as I now live only 20km away from it or so and that's part of why I got the 660!
