    That was awsome shooting sir.
    Love that rifle you have and I think this video has convinced me to get a 6.5 for some range work.
    Many thanks from the UK.

      Thank you! It is a super fun cartridge for LR shooting. I use it usually out to 1200meters. I have some videos of that if you search "sommarträffen" on my YT page. Very easy to reload for as well.

    That first miss was just off the right side of plate. And I mean just off the edge.Your trail is easy to follow with this camera angle. Great shooting.

    Probably the most underated cartridge available. I loaded 80 gr to 180 grain projies in mine. Lots of good cartridges abailable. Just got to pick one and build a good rifle. Then you can enjoy your shooting and only blame one thing for the miss. YOURSELF

      Very true. You should see my video from a long range competition where I got a first round hit at a 60x60cm target at 1200m. 142gr SMK @ 880m/s~, 1:7" rifling 26" barrel.

      Where did you get the 180 grain projectiles

    The Swedes had it right in 1891 or whenever they came up with the 6.5x55. Now after all these years we see the real importance of their research with all this BC and SD data on the 6.5 bullets. The only thing no one understood was how much pressure could you load into the cartridge. Rightfully they were apprehensive of the pressures of the new smokeless powder. I have loaded some really hot loads in my old 96 Mausers, and I have never had a stiff bolt, blown our primer or any other sign of too much pressure. I have a Chilean 1895 Mauser that was converted to 7.62 NATO. That thing sends sign all the time of too much pressure. I even had a stiff bolt with military 7.62x51 ammo, so go figure. It was originally chambered for 7x57. I sometimes wonder of the headspace is off in that old 95.

      Modern 6.5x55 rifles can handle high pressures better as well and have better rifling for those high bc bullets. 1-7" is very nice for stabilizing 142gr SMKs for example. Those perform very well for me when shooting long range.

      It was really the Norwegians, as the swedes originally wanted a rimmed 6.5x55 but Norway wanted a rimless. Ultimately sweden would eventually agree to a rimless cartridge

    Do you know if I can shoot this ammo to my Mannlicher Shonauer (6.5 x54 mm)???

      Wrong caliber for cartridge. Bullet might work though.

    Ganska precis 516m blir det från den vallen, ner till platsen där stålmålen brukar hänga. En trevligt bana med hyfsade avstånd att skjuta på :)

    •  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    •  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Är mest en säkerhetsrutin jag försöker komma ihåg att ha på skjutbanan. Bättre att ha på dem och inte behöva dem än att behöva dem och inte ha på dem.

      Ifall något skulle hända med vapnet - tex en hylssprängning, så är det vettigt att ha. Något man ofta glömmer bort...

    1/2 kilometer or less than 600 yards. 6" plate is more than doable. That target would be greater than moa. The 6.5x55 is a great cartridge though.

    If you miss your next moose; you can't blame your rifle now. I know enough to be dangerous. I assume single feeding your rifle won't damage the extractor. I was in my 40's when I learned a Mauser extractor can be damaged by single feeding. Up until that point, I had single fed my Winchester model 70.

    • @jmkhenka
      @jmkhenka 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      on control feed it might matter as the round is picked up and slides under the extractor claw, but i dont see how it matters for push feed as the extractor jumps over the case rim when closing the bolt. My dads winchester 70 is push feed, but there are older model 70 that has controlled feed.

    • @armadefuego5907
      @armadefuego5907 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      My model 70 is a Mauser action control feed. I did a little reading about the push feed actions. Single feeding shouldn't matter for a push feed action.
