Well he certainly isn't flawless, and he has left things out before, whether intentionally or not, but for the most part he is one of the most genuine and capable mainstream creators on this platform.
It makes me so mad when people discredit Matpat as a whole because they don't agree with a theory. There was a petition TO REMOVE HIM FROM THE INTERNET because people were mad about him calling Mario a sociopath! He spends a lot of time and effort trying to make the theories as legitimate and realistic as possible. He dives deeply into the science and lore to try to make the theories a good as possible. Yet people don't hesitate to cut him to shreds because they're mad about Undertale or Fnaf. He doesn't deserve it.

the spice girls wrote a lot of their own music. I know this is almost two years later but still. the group was "manufactured" but then basically locked in a house for several months and told "make an album, here's some starting material"

Really glad that someone brought this up. After Logan's sucide forest incident and his path of "redemption" that came afterwards, I realized that there has to be more behind the sucess of the Paul Brothers. If you really look at their careers you can tell that this all seems veeeery manufactured. Being rebelious and controversial. This whole "Fuck the adults, Fuck school, Fuck the rules" reminds me of 10-15 years ago, when hating your parents was still cool, it's just a more modernized version of that. My theory is, that after they tasted the sweet flavour of "fame", back in their Vine days, they desperately wanted more. But since Vine was deleted they had to go somewhere else. Then I guess they basically sold their souls to the devil and signed a contract that would make them put up these persona's of rebelious and controversial young adults. Typical Hollywood-Story. Logan and Jake are nothing more than fictional characters. Created by a company. Starting of I can imagine that Jake was more drawn to the business side of the story rather than the acting side..but by creating Team 10 and being a part of it himself he really fucked up business wise. His reputation is horrible. I can't imagine that anyone would or could take him seriously neither as a Talent Scout nor as a general business man. If he really wanted to be a "social media billionaire" he never should have joined Team 10 himself. Two young boys from a small town of Ohio can't really play with the big boys in Hollywood. It is really interesting though, this business model "any PR is good PR" was hugely sucessful.. They both have billions of views and all they had to do was overstep the boundries. Shane's documentary seems like Jake's redemption, just like KSI, the interviews and all videos around that whole boxing match were Logan's "redemption" after Japan. People started to feel sympathy for Logan after KSI became the bad guy who insulted Logan's girlfriend and his family. Balancing really bad PR with sorta good PR. And it's surprising that sorta good PR is good enough. I can see all the work Shane put into this and I really like Shane a lot, but I think he was used here (unless he got a fat paycheck after they filmed all this, which would really surprise me). I dont know if Jake and Logan are actually this fucked up or if they might even be somewhat genuine when the cameras are turned off, only personal friends and family would know.. But my theory is that most of what they are showing us is just a persona, created by a huge company. The only tragedy in Jake's story might only be that he became one of the characters that he wanted to created and make money off.

don’t get me wrong, i loved shane’s series. but i felt it was lacking something, like it wasn’t truly getting into the nitty gritty. I’m not shocked you didn’t talk about angel investors who are different than normal investors. They tend to take a laise fare approach or hands off approach and come in when asked for help. the spice girls wrote a lot of their own music. I know this is almost two years later but still. the group was "manufactured" but then basically locked in a house for several months and told "make an album, here's some starting material"
and then those poor girls basically had no free time for years. Between appearances, interviews, concerts, filming a movie at the same time as writing and recording their second album, they basically only got actual sleep on the plane between shows. Tensions got high, expectations were higher. I hate it when people disrespect that group because I can't imagine how hellish that time must have been for them. And then you've got Geri leaving more or less out of the blue during a tour (Which, again, given the pressures and lifestyle they were living, it's understandable she'd do something like that), which just caused even more pressure to reassure the massive amounts of fans that the group wasn't breaking up and they'd survive it

Really glad that someone brought this up. After Logan's sucide forest incident and his path of "redemption" that came afterwards, I realized that there has to be more behind the sucess of the Paul Brothers. If you really look at their careers you can tell that this all seems veeeery manufactured. Being rebelious and controversial. This whole "Fuck the adults, Fuck school, Fuck the rules" reminds me of 10-15 years ago, when hating your parents was still cool, it's just a more modernized version of that. My theory is, that after they tasted the sweet flavour of "fame", back in their Vine days, they desperately wanted more. But since Vine was deleted they had to go somewhere else. Then I guess they basically sold their souls to the devil and signed a contract that would make them put up these persona's of rebelious and controversial young adults. Typical Hollywood-Story. Logan and Jake are nothing more than fictional characters. Created by a company. Starting of I can imagine that Jake was more drawn to the business side of the story rather than the acting side..but by creating Team 10 and being a part of it himself he really fucked up business wise. His reputation is horrible. I can't imagine that anyone would or could take him seriously neither as a Talent Scout nor as a general business man. If he really wanted to be a "social media billionaire" he never should have joined Team 10 himself. Two young boys from a small town of Ohio can't really play with the big boys in Hollywood. It is really interesting though, this business model "any PR is good PR" was hugely sucessful.. They both have billions of views and all they had to do was overstep the boundries. Shane's documentary seems like Jake's redemption, just like KSI, the interviews and all videos around that whole boxing match were Logan's "redemption" after Japan. People started to feel sympathy for Logan after KSI became the bad guy who insulted Logan's girlfriend and his family. Balancing really bad PR with sorta good PR. And it's surprising that sorta good PR is good enough. I can see all the work Shane put into this and I really like Shane a lot, but I think he was used here (unless he got a fat paycheck after they filmed all this, which would really surprise me). I dont know if Jake and Logan are actually this fucked up or if they might even be somewhat genuine when the cameras are turned off, only personal friends and family would know.. But my theory is that most of what they are showing us is just a persona, created by a huge company. The only tragedy in Jake's story might only be that he became one of the characters that he wanted to created and make money off.
