Rebuilding a junk 6.9 IDI Starter without any new parts!

  • Sometimes you don’t have to speed money to get the result you want. This starter was not working on the truck, the main motor would not spin no matter what, let’s take this apart and figure out what exactly went wrong and if we can manage to fix it. Giving the condition of the pole shoes in this starter the strength of the motor likely isn’t going to be very great, so we will try it on our engine and go from there.

    Thanks for this one! I put a free oreillys reman delco-remy direct drive in my 84 just for the chinesium solenoid to shit the bed. Good to see how simple they are to fix!

    Happy Easter Youngster, cracking video, quick question for you, where you put electrical tape around the long bolts, could you use heat shrink, or would that be too thick? Enjoy the rest of your Easter, looking forward to the next video.

      You likely could if you had a long enough heat shrink, there was enough space there for maybe a 32nd around the entire bolt before it interfered.
