These physical labor jobs are all very demanding we aren't doing light work.
The jobs aren't even the problem the COMPANIES are!!!! There is a major distinction.
Amazon warehouse is so awful and honestly he said he received a promotion and a raise since that is all it takes that is all he will ever get, yes they gave me a higher raise at my job too and I can relate to him wholeheartedly and we deserve better with that said, anything connected to Amazon is contaminated and Amazon is the most stubborn employer Amazon would nearly have to collapse in order to completely reform!

You have a computer on you that records how fast you are going all day long. I was the fastest, strongest worker (all conference athlete in multiple sports and lift/excersice regularly) and couldn't keep the pace they expected. They did it because they noticed I was limping.

This is madness. As long as workers are putting in solid efforts, there's no reason to micromanage like this. Everyone has bad and good days at anything. I get that people should be working at work, but this is excessive to put it kindly. I'm not one to rally fully for unions either (I'd need to know everything about a union before I'd support it) but people get hurt, people pee and poop, people need rest breaks, etc. Let them work to the best of their abilities. Example: Jack doesn't have the work speed of Joe but Jack can lift more than Joe. Sally might be slower than Sandra but Sally has more accuracy. Everyone has their own attributes they are good at. Let Jack, Joe, Sally, and Sandra work to the best of their abilities!

It was the same way at Walgreens distributions. I finally got up one morning and just said," I can't do this anymore ". I called in and told them to give my job to someone else. I've never regretted quitting like that.

OSHA is not a Union. And the point of OSHA regs are not to make sure you remember to feed yourself, or to give you time off to cry. We also live (for now) in a free country. Earning over $40K a year for a single person who only works 36 hrs a week is actually a good wage. And plenty of people would like to have that job. If he doesn't want it he is free to quit and go elsewhere. Again, it is a free country.

I worked at Amazon Pallet Dock for 5 years, THAT is the hardest part of the warehouse. I had to leave in November due to many Covid cases popping, which Amazon doesn’t tell you who was sick until you got a text message stating somebody was infected. My wife has cancer and I couldn’t risk that. Now, my back and legs feel all wacked. Take care of yourself, your body can only take so much and listen to your body and always visit your own personal doctor, company doctors don’t care and will send you back to work with a dislocated shoulder.

Definitely I think for the younger people, I managed to pick up a job working at a Amazon warehouse where I live. Unfortunately I only lasted a week before I went off injured, my lower back just spasmed and I needed strong painkillers for about two weeks. After discussion with the medical professionals, it was decided not to put me back to work. So back on the unemployment it was for me . At the time I was 50 years old. I was pretty fit and healthy but a little overweight, but also I had always worked in an office prior to this. I am always seeing ads for jobs here, but I am not going back, don’t want to risk another episode.

About the losing weight....everyone at Amazon knows when they get the job they are gonna lose weight. I personally got the job for the exercise as a driver. Not as bad as the warehouses because you work by yourself and aren't micro-managed. Working for Amazon gave me better insight to when I needed to eat to keep up a healthier routine than I had working in an office all day. I eat smaller portions and more often. I used to only eat once a day for the convenience or twice if I ate while I drove somewhere. Working for Amazon fixed my bad eating habits by making it so that I did have to eat before and after shifts and sometimes during with a granola bar or whatever and taking frequent water breaks. I don't have sympathies for young folks who say, "oh it's so hard, oh my knees." Yeah, getting used to an exercise job is rough on the body no matter your age. I got the job right out of physical therapy for ACL replacement surgery to get better faster and push myself not because it's so satisfying delivering boxes. I was 36 when I joined as a driver. My knees hurt and Amazon has nothing to do with it.

Most of the bad stuff you hear from Amazon is in the warehouse and it is specifically about the TOT so this discussion doesn't really pertain to you. You being a driver and not being micro managed all the time.
