Sudoku Guy is certainly an exceptional teacher with an excellent command of the subject he is teaching in a nice and interesting way. I have been trying to follow his lessons one on a day with the cardinal numbers running riot into my head at the end. Even then the charm of the Sudoku Guru gets eloquent to a man 72 years old day by day.
Thank you SOOOOO very much!! I've been struggling with COP / CAP / CUP / COUGH (in the UK) & the like for YEARS. We only have one A sound. What YOU say can be found nowhere else. Thanks a lot for existing & sharing your expertise with us!!
Ok, I love Ronnie, but girl!! *THIS VIDEO IS SUPER CONFUSING* The North American accent is a hot mess and varies so much that you can literally find 50 videos on TH-cam of teachers contradicting one another. Ronnie is Canadian and it shows. Ok, so let me break this down: at 0:55 she's saying / ə / for "A," which is how you pronounce the indefinite article, then she says / o / for "O" 0:58. THEN for some reason, after introducing those two sounds, she switches from / o / to / ɑ / at 1:21. At 1:34 she says that she'll tackle the / æ / words first, but she actually pronounces those with the open front unrounded vowel / a / sound instead 1:51. Also, "Dan" sounds like /dɛːn / 1:55. The vowel she uses in words like 'hot' and 'Don' is actually the open back rounded vowel / ɒ / - this is very Canadian 3:13. Americans are more likely to use either / ä / or / ɑ / which has no lip rounding. This is why it's good to know IPA because English spelling doesn't tell you anything about pronunciation and can only lead to further confusion because dialects vary a lot.
Gostei da aula professora, explicou muito bem sobre a difrerença dessas vogais com sons parecidos. Conseguir entender melhor com sua explicação; e melhor ainda quando você compara as duas palavras, isto ajuda muito.
hi Ronnie, I am Brazilian of Rio de Janeiro. I really want to speak English, and You're a great teacher .I wrote this sentence with google's help. help me!
Bag, Dan & cat are 3 different vowel sounds. Bag has a diphthong of \æ\ followed by \ɪ\ or the short A followed by \ee\. Cat, rat, back etc, all have just the \æ\ sound. Whenever the \æ\ is followed by an \ or \m\ consonant, we English speakers automatically change the vowel to a very high tongue position monophthong that the IPA whiffed on, I mean, they missed it, I mean, they gave it NO character😄
Thank you for your lessons learning English with you is awesome you make it sound so easy and you are pretty fun to listen to . Could you please make a video about he difference between the E and I pronunciation ? . I am a Spanish speaker and I find it hard to get I've pronunciation of this vowels when I learn new words ! Thank you
Thanks Ronnie :) However, I've found a slight difference between British pronunciation of short "o" sound and Canadian. British "o" is slightly less opened than you have taught here. Nevertheless, great lesson as usual :)
Heheh I had problem with pronunciation of A and O when I was beginner in English but now I can compare between them . Any way thank you ronni best teacher ever LoL
Hi... congrats for ur teaching, ur a very gd teacher. im 16 yrs old, i lived in london for about 3 years nd, I live in colombia right now, nd a high school here offered me to be they're english teacher, from 6 to 11th grade, nd i was wondering if u could give me some topics on what i can teach to the lil' ones nd the big ones... :D thank you
ahahah English is funny! Would is more formal than will when you ask someone to do something for you! Your boss is using very, very polite language to ask you to so something!
EnglishLessons4U - Learn English with Ronnie! [engVid] ma'am i love your lesson but i am having trouble in O sound DON COP when it starts with O sound like optician option occupation i have to open my mouth please make video on that and please let me know thanks
Hi Ronni, good videos!!! May you tell me the difference between pitcher and jug. How about a jar, it is the same as a pitcher or as a jug. Help I'm confused.
could you tell me the position of tongue when we speak "A" (ae) sound? you just said about the shape of mouth, but i know that position of tongue is really important too. Thank you very much!
Could you also explain the difference in pronunciation between: bag and bug, hat and hut, Dan and done, caps and cups, cat and cut, sack and suck. I could never tell the difference between staff and stuff for instance. And there's when the real problem shows up. Thanks.
hey hope ur well. is there any video lesson describes the difference of where to use "will" & "would"? Also, my boss used to say "i was wondering if u could do this?" i always Wonder why he Wonder alot..hopfully ill get the answer from u
Ronnie, there's a mistake. You started off by saying the letter symbol sounds and you said that the letter 'O' is pronounced 'oh' but that's not so. Your O words are AW (as in rot...not rOte) which is the usual pronunciation of the letter O....as in HOT, COT etc..as you showed afterwards.
it depends on the language : British or American English? But it is not an O /ɔː/ as in "short". It's the /ɒ/ sound in British and /ɑ/ sound in American English. All the sounds here : www.macmillanenglish.com/pronunciation/interactive-phonemic-charts/
Hi, hope you can see this, I'm learning English, I'm from El Salvador, I wish u can make (if possible) (crossing fingers) another video about this two sounds with more examples, But I have to say these videos so far have saved my ass a lot (: thank you!!!!!
