A Dam is a barrier built across a river or stream that blocks the flow of water. Advantages of dam: 1. Provides water for irrigation and human consumption. 2. Generates hydroelectricity (we will not run out of hydro power as long as the water cycle exists.) 3. Avoids air pollution as hydro power is a clean energy. 4. Dams provide prime recreational areas for boating, camping, water sports and picnic. 5. Dams can supress floods thereby avoiding a big disaster. 6. Dams are useful for navigation (inland river transportation) Disadvantages of a dam: 1. Dams affects biodiversity. Dams restrict the movement of migratory fish and other aquatic animals thereby affecting their reproduction and gradually decline in population. 2. Plant life may get submerged under water and eventually die. 3. Dams will capture and hold important sediments needed for habitats downstream there by affecting the fertility of the soil. 4. Construction of dams can affect the groundwater table along the river. 5. A dam collapse could be a major catastrophe. 6. Construction of a dam could be very expensive.

@@drpreetiautade2286 Sorry for the delay in reply. It would be difficult to do this model without thermocol. But, you can do a small dam model with thick cardboard (4-5 layers) And make sure to apply many coats of cement (let the first layer dry and then apply the second coat) so that the water does not penetrate the cement layer and gets into the cardboard. Add water in a very small quantity, ie., little by little (25ml per time). Use gloves and mix it with hand to avoid lumps. Add water little by little and mix well until you get the consistency shown in the video.
Here is the speech on the procedure for ur project Because hydropower uses water to generate electricity, plants are usually located on or near a water source. The energy available from the moving water depends on both the volume of the water flow and the change in elevation-also known as the head-from one point to another. The greater the flow and the higher the head, the more the electricity that can be generated. At the plant level, water flows through a pipe-also known as a penstock-and then spins the blades in a turbine, which, in turn, spins a generator that ultimately produces electricity.
Sir I had prepared this dam yesterday night after 8 hours or 2hours I had sprinkled the water but after some time the cement had became colourless in edges and in some areas..plzzzz tell me.. How to recover this ....plzzzzz sir plzzz.....I have to submit day after tomorrow in my schl......plzzz give me a solution... .
After applying cement you should spray water gently for the first time after 8 hours, and from then onwards (after 8 hours) you will have to spray water for every two hours. When the cement dries up, it will go a bit white colour. But when you spray water it will absorb water and become dark. This is completely normal. Handle the model very carefully. Rough handling may break the cement coating.
First you will have to pour water into the bottom tank manually. From there the pump will draw the water into the reservoir and will flow down to the bottom again and will become a cycle. At 9:39 you will see there is PVC pipe in the reservoir that is going down. You will have to connect the pump at the bottom end of that PVC pipe. (make sure the pump sits properly on the bottom tank without hanging in the air as shown in 15:36) In my model the reservoir PVC pipe length was short, so i have added an extra green pipe.
