Sad to say that Glen Keane's FINAL movie to do was Tangled. Keane I am gonna miss your animation. You created a mermaid,a beast,a riff raff,a sexy shirtless man in the wild,a girl with LONG flowing locks.
As faithful as I am to the TRADITIONAL Disney Animation Studios, I'd wholeheartedly rather work for Mr. Keane if he ever opened his own animation studio. Andreas Deja and him are my favorite animators of the recent Disney films (with Ken Duncan and Mark Henn close behind).
Now I know why Rapunzel was a bit like Ariel - The scene where Eric and Ariel are in the boat on the lagoon appear so similar to when Flynn and Rapunzel are in their boat holding hands seeing the lights. That's even the moment they both nearly share a kiss.
I'm working on a film script right now, about a disabled teenager who is an artist. Her biggest inspiration? This guy right here :D She has a shrine to his work in her bedroom and a portrait of him in her sketchbook. Thanks, Glen, without you I probably wouldn't have created this project.
Glen Keane is like a Method Animator, since he's able to draw on past experiences in his life to bring more life to the characters he would be animating. Rather than just getting a character to point A to point B simply cause its your job to do so.
True, but at the same time im incredibly grateful that he decided to work on Pocahontas instead. He developed a completely knew style of animation and character development while developing Pocahontas that was in complete contrast to everything Disney had already done before at that time. And as a result Pocahontas has stood the test of time as being one of the best animated films Disney has ever produced and it's all down to Keane's talent and determination to create a new style of animation for the film. His drawings and creations are the heart of the film and its story.
And strangely enough, after seeing this movie in Cinemas in 3D, Disney's Tangled/Rapunzel made me want to watch Kamen Rider (Showa Era 1971/89 & Heisei Era 2000/Onwards) now. I don't know why, but somehow Rapunzel & Flynn Rider makes me think they would make a perfect team next to Shotaro & Phillip aka Kamen Rider W/Double. :-P Would be a fun thing to see in Tokyo Disneyland or at Toei Kyoto Movie Studios, or Both! X-D
This guy is amazing, it really sucks he's not working with Disney anymore.... like... seriously.. why? =/ He could have made even more wonderful things.
Even though I'm not a big fan of this film, Glen put a lot of effort into this and the other Disney films. Ashame he's not at Disney now. He should do some drawing tutorials like don bluth did
I personally think that Glen should have worked on Lion King. If he still wanted to work on Pocahontas, he could have animated Mufasa who doesn't have too much screen time. And still have had time to move onto Pocahontas. I like Tony Fucelis work on Mufasa, but I would have liked to see Glen animate an anatomically accurate lion.
Did anyone else notice even during this interview he STILL has a pencil in hand?? Glen Keane, you absolute legend! :)

I love Glen Keane i wish he never have quit
This guy is one of the best animators ever! It's too bad he retired from Disney. It's also sad that he didn't work on the Lion King.

I'm so afraid of Glen Keane having to die some day 😰 god I'd cry
he is amazinggggg
I'm GOING to meet this fabulous man someday!
I wonder if doing art makes your brain sharp like that, or was he just born a genius and gravitated to art.
it's the art.
I admire him so much!

I like how he's holding a pencil even though he's in an interview xD 1:20
