Yohan is a precious baby that needs to be protected even if he is physically older than Maria right now he has less hp. As well as having a childlike personality similar to Maria, he just needs to be cherished the little innocent baby. This is now a dating sim, who shall claim box head's heart and his amazing cooking of chicken peas.
Oh man if I were Maria I would take crayons and draw all over on that beautiful white boxhead.

I'm not done with this video yet, but I'm far enough to formulate my own theory.
I apologize if this ends up being a spoiler somehow, so I'm gonna push it a bit further down in the comment so maybe it gets hidden.
Ohaco said that he was about Maria's age, eighteen. But Yohan sees Maria as a child, and indeed, her menu art shows her MUCH shorter and more childlike than Yohan and Ohaco, physically.
I'm wondering if Maria isn't the daughter of the witch, but the witch herself, and Ohaco... removed the evil from her? The gloopy ghost is oddly fixated on trying to get Maria to join her in 'not forgiving' someone, most likely Ohaco. If Ohaco could only remove the evil from Maria by reverting her to the state she was when she was last innocent, she'd be 18-ish but look a little over half that- as the curse (whether it was real or not) was on the village for seven years. Ohaco probably bound the evil instead of destroying it, and now it's wiggling loose.

I just finished this game. It is so beautiful and it's the first rpg maker game that made me cry since Ib. Oh, how I miss this kind of games.

Should have been 7 o’clock... on the dot. Yuan seemed like a normal guy except for his happy willingness for self-sacrifice to repay the village’s kindness in raising him. Maybe he acquired magic when he defeated Maria, making her lose her memories & act like a little girl instead of her 18 year old self.
Her abilities & memories as a witch are probably trapped within Yuan’s box, but like Fantasy Maiden’s Hideout, as the facade of her existence begins to crack, the truth leaks out past Yuan’s abilities to contain it.
And like every good anime hero, he is cheerfully oblivious of the bromantic feelings of Yohan or the maidenly adoration of Maria. I predict that Maria's dromon will defeat Yohan's curragh in the shipping wars.
