Did you ever follow up on the idea for a video on Ceph Containers vs Bare Metal? Went hunting for it but couldn't find it on your channel. Thanks as ever for all the great information you guys provide! :-)
Yes this is still (mostly) accurate info. In our opinion 45Drives will continue to use bare metal deployments of Ceph for our customers for the foreseeable future. Since this videos release, cephadm has become the preferred deployment tool of the upstream project. It has accomplished the stated goal of making a Ceph cluster easier to start from scratch, but has added some extra complexities when it comes to fixing problems down the road in production. Cephadms original plans was to have multiple orchestrators it would support, but this has not continued cephadm only uses a containerized backend orchestrator using podman. 45Drives continues to maintain its fork of Ceph-ansible project and is looking towards plans of integrating the deployment and management of a Ceph cluster via its Houston UI. - Brett K.
Ceph ansible is problematic, not even once works without manual works to edit playbooks or some ansible version or some python modules ... it's great if works :)

So far Cephadm has worked well for us.
We use combination of Jenkins, ansible and shell scripts
Are these recommendations still current 3 yrs later?
