Here's another fun musical technique exercise I came up with last night :)
Obviously, there's lots of benefit to practicing "boring" exercises, I've done my fair share over the years. But this can be a fun way to build up your alternate picking, hand synchronization, and overall technique in a more musical, enjoyable way!
I make these long on purpose so that any small section can be used as a standalone picking exercise. But then you can always take it further and try to make your way through more and more of the piece.
Let me know what you think in the comments!

Reminds me of a classical etude! Classical pieces are always great picking workouts for me.
Etudes are definitely way more fun than traditional exercises. This sounds great, man!
"Okay...that's really good....now... here's Twinkle Twinkle Little Star"
I want a full blown album of your own stuff at this point. Your music taste is very close to mine.

One of the great qualities of your music is perfect guitar tones. Always.
Thank you so much for sharing these brilliant practice etudes! You've written a beautiful piece of music here. I like the melody , it's unique, beautiful to listen to and makes you feel like you're going on an adventure rather than simply practicing scales up and down.
( However there are times where I do consider practicing a technique in a simple way is important too! ) Rock on :) and thanks again!
Thank you! 🙏 Absolutely, if you enjoy practicing “boring” exercises then there’s lots of benefit to them. This is just a fun way to switch things up and keep it fun 😊
That sounds amazing! I just tried the first pattern and my fingers are confused so that means it’s a great exercise! Love the pocket you get into with this sounds awesome thank you for sharing!
That was great!
i think im gonna try that tomorrow morning gj
:)
This is a great piece to work on for sure. It appears to be strict alternate picking - which is very challenging for me as I always want to start position changes with a down pick... Will be working this one out very slowly for sure. Thanks for posting - sounds awesome too.
Woo thanks a lot for sharing this man !! Very interesting and well composed !
This Kiesel is amazing
That's a really fun piece to play...thx for that.
Glad you like it!
I love it! I always trained piano with the same mindset, just very interesting melodies that are fun to the ear
That sounds Awesome, and thar guitar is beautiful, especially the flames on the maple fretboard. 👍
hey man just wanna say thanks. absolutely loved learning this. i[ve been hybrid picking alot so its good to have something to brush up my alternate picking. sub'd!
Glad you liked it!
Amazing ❤❤❤
Great stuff! I think I recognized something from Dream Theater's Systematic Chaos album in there, but the exact riff and song name elude me right now
Good call. Now that you mention it, I can hear a couple riffs from In the Presence of Enemies pt. 1. Maybe Forsaken too, though not quite as much IMO.
Edit: excessive number of commas.
At 31 seconds it sounds similar to the first heavy part in “ A Change Of Seasons”
That was beautiful!
You’re so freaking good.
This could be used in a Castle Vania game, LOL. Well done!
This is awesome!!
tres musical super!
And with a Clean Tone is where you Understand Your Tecnique Peak Point ... And i'm Far away Light Years from That 😅😅🔥🤟🔥🤟🔥
Wow!! Subbed 🙏🏼
Niiiiiiiiiice!! Useful stuff
Amazing exercise man!!
When I practice these kind of synchronization exercises do I need to try and get very fast with them or more like the speed in the video and just working on the synchronization and when it gets easier switch to another one?
Thanks! I suggest trying to get the consistency of the rhythm before working on speed. Then definitely feel free to push yourself with how fast you’re able to play it! Use a metronome to track your progress and push to new plateaus 👍😊
Lovely !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wow!
Honestly it kinda sounds like a children of bodom, just put it in d standard and slap some distortion on it, definitely gonna try this out, thank you 🤘🏻🎃🤘🏻
Gorgeous playing ! but how am I supposed to memorize all those notes 🥲
by playing and understanding not memorizing
Sounds really good ! I wish incould improvise like that
I mean, I'm sure he does, too...
This was definitely not improvised lol.
Awesome!!
Is there an easier fingering for the end of bar 2? The descending G triad ends on a B note (fret 9 on D string) and in the video you are using your ring finger, and then immediately play the C on the low E string with your ring finger as well. I am having a hard time getting that up to speed and still be able to play cleanly. I've tried maybe playing 8 on B string, and then slide 7 to 4 on G string instead what the tab says, but I'm not sure if I like it
Your awesome dude
So fuckn awesome dude 🎉
I feel like a lot of your work is free, I’m a patreon sub but I don’t really see where i get more stuff than on your free YT Channel.
Great work by the way, gonna practice it soon 🔥
I try to post something exclusive for Patreon members once a week. Whether it’s tabs & practice tips for videos like these or the many exclusive lesson videos I’ve posted. And now I’m offering one-on-one lesson availability only to Patreon members each week as well.
Honestly, it can be a challenge to balance making enough content for both platforms without one feeling sacrificed over the other. But Patreon members are always welcome to message me directly with questions they have and to request lesson content as well. I appreciate the support! 🙏
@ Thank you for your answer 🙏
Sir, could you please show us your version of Caprici Di Diablo from Malmsteen. Thanks in advance, you got this!
Bro , new to your channel and susbcribed.
This was so refreshing to listen to 👌 , Didnt feel like a exercise. Loved it ❤
Do you offer any soloing tips courses in any websites
Thanks! I’m glad you liked it 😊 I don’t have any courses but I post weekly lesson videos on Patreon covering all topics. And Patrons are encouraged to request lesson topics, message me directly any questions they have, and can even take one-on-one lessons from me 👍
@@jamierobinson777 Thanks for sharing all details bro 😊. Very happy reading your message. Noted all 😊
And i am checking all your other videos now, Your guitar playing is so soothing to ears 👌. Have a nice day bro ❤
What chair do you use when you play? Thank you 🙏🏼
Arpeggio exercises please
My brain wants a "like that" at the end.
Pretty! 🔥
Why am I even watching this
My fingers can't reach fret 20 on a dreadnaught acoustic 😂
I got you
What exactly distinguishes an exercise from an actual musical piece? The fretboard is only so big.
Niceeee
What harmony progression are u using to make this?
I would love to hear this with gain.
Would it work on acoustic?
If there was a 2024 revival of Ecco the Dolphin, I could absolutely imagine this on there!
in piano sheet?
Hey, Jamie. What do you think about Anton Oparin?
holy tone
Absolutely beautiful
So to do this exercise, i need some skill lol
Aw yeah, no worries, i play by ear 😅
Sounds like Ner Ner by guthrie govan
Just to practice this, I need practice 🤣
🥰
I might sell my guitar right away before taking this into practice
Maybe my new song is this exercise, with drums.
Uh.. Your tabs don't have slides in them when you're sliding in your video...
No slides. Every note is picked 😊
I just started playing guitar about 3 months ago and can tell you, I will not be practicing this for rn😅
Take any small part of it (even 1 bar) as a standalone exercise! I promise it will help build your technique. Just start slow and get it consistent 👍😊
Beutiful! Now do the same with only chords.
tabs pls :p
1 week after: i learned all the tabs, i'm practing more and more and let me tell you this is finally a funny exercise, sounds good and weird at the same time. I'm working on precision and speed right now and when i got back to old exercises, after praticing this one, i feel completely diffrent, especially my right hand. Thanks a lot for this, i want more now!
excellent ^^]
I'm more of a hammer on pentatonic kind of guy...I like really pushing to my max abilities 😂
For a second I thought bullet for my valentine 😮
Eh
Sounds pretty average if you don’t have a delay pedal 😢
Modulation would sound so cool with this
"Fascinatingly" ! Надеюсь "завораживающе" Интернет перевëл правильно.
Ok, but WHY?
😂😂😂😂
If you explained what you play regarding harmony I would play). Otherwise it's pointless
also boring
Where we can get the minus, backing track of this etude?
Go Canada! And Gingers!
