If you keep the voltage constant, the current will increase almost proportionately to the increase in torque load. As you increase the load, you can increase the supply voltage, and bring the current back down. Doubling the load on the motor should require a 1.4142135 (square root of 2) times increase in voltage, to cause the current to increase by the same percentage. If you run the motor unloaded, you can turn the voltage way down, to get the motor to draw the minimum current. (I have run a 7.5 horsepower, 4 pole three phase motor on as little as 12 watts). The power factor will remain as high as possible. If you cut the voltage back too much, the current will begin to increase again, and the motor will slow down. The power factor will begin to increase once again. It's a very fine line between optimum voltage for the load, and too low. The motor will quickly stall, if you cut the voltage even a small percentage below optimum for the load. As one of you has a hand on the brake, the other should have their hand on the variac (variable transformer). Watch the current, and chase it with increased voltage, as the load increases. Be careful! That motor looks like it can burn that brake band very quickly, if you get close to nameplate current and voltage, thus, horsepower.

Thanks for your observation, soon we are going to upload some more videos on the same experiment. The necessary and applications of each experiment will be explained in the upcoming videos.
