I just got one for 189 pounds really good
great
What's the average range of an air rifle?
@@mimetype about 40 yard to 50
@@simonnoble7589 Thanks
This is great. I've never had anyone to teach me these kinds of details. Please do more.
Although I have been critical of some pistol/revolver reviews of late, credit where credit is due, an excellent review here Andy. Thank you
GOOD morning everybody and our host Andy , have a fantastic day .... cheers Simon
That is the first expertly explained difference in First & Second Focal Planes Scopes cheers Andy.
Oh for got yes please do more videos like these now and agine, they would be so helpful to those who are just starting out etc Cheers
Thanks for the review. Ordered one last week at Vector Optics Germany. It's the abundance of features, and the general built-quality I'm used of my FFP Veyron that convinced me to buy another Vector, this time for my AR15 in 556. Hope to see it arrive tomorrow and mount it on the rifle!.
Excellent. Very useful. Scopes were a bit of a black art and you made so clear. Thank you.
Goodmorning everyone! A beautiful start of the weekend, Andy's reviews! Always looking forwards to it! Have a wonderful weekend you all!
Good morning , yes its sunny and still here , fab weather ... Hope your doing ok
@@simonnoble7589 Hi Simon. A bit of rain is expected today. But it was a wonderful week. Tomorrow will be BBQ-weather again! How are yoy?
@@fliesarenegade enjoy a great weekend ... iam ok thank you ... Shot a rat this morning ? so that cheered me up lol have a super weekend
I will be purchasing one of two of these scores for my air rifles. Thank you Andy.
Just ordered mine from Vector Air at £186 with mounts for my HK97. Thanks for the very informative video.
Excellent review Andy
Many thanks for this review/recommendation. I have purchased one this evening as I've been looking for new glass for my .243. Looking forward to getting it. Many thanks again keep up the good work
Thanks Andy, just collected mine from Vector along with a new gun bag. Apparently discerning viewers of your channel know a good thing when shown it and it has been extremely busy at the shop and with mail order! Indeed there was another viewer collecting just ahead of me this morning.
The problem with ffp scopes is that when fully zoomed out the reticle tends to be very small and the graduations difficult to use. I have a discovery 3-18 x 50 ED scope which is very good but the ffp reticle is tiny at 3 times zoom.
How are the turrets and are is the glass clear?
@@jasong5913 the turrets are really good with a resettable zero position and it’s a milirad scope so ten clicks equals 1 mil dot on the reticle. The image quality is very, very good and very bright and the illumination just lights up the centre of the reticle. It is twice the price of the Orion Andy tested but it’s the best scope I own by far.
Yeah I agree I've got a wulf defender 4.8-26x56 ffp unbeleivable scope but I'd also say you never use these scopes on zero mag or lowest mag you alwasy zoom so it's horses for courses
Hi, really enjoy your videos but I feel you should mention down sides in reviews. You rightly mention the good points of FFP keeping the hold overs constant but down side is the reticle tends to be very slim at minimum magnification and difficlult to see and at maximum magnification can become very thick espically where the magnification range is large
SFP is often less taxing on the eye for benchrest over a long session, and as the reticle remains thin at any magnification this assists in precision.
I really like the variety of things you show us and do reviews on. Thank you for your hard work.
Having just taken up air rifle shooting, this has been really useful and informative. Thank you
He’s done it again. I didn’t need a scope ? But I’ve just ordered one of these. £186ish..
Great review. Informative for newer shooters.. This will go on my FX DRS..
Me too, I had no need for a scope but at the price with the code it's too much scope to pass up. Now does it go on my hw100bp and replace the prismatic?
Thanks for another great review Andy.
First focal plane scopes are in some ways great, got myself one a few years back, a Vector Optics Veyron 4-16 X 44. It's crispy clear and very compact in size compared to other similar scopes. The weight of only 530g is another great plus.
However... when using the lower magnifications, the crosshairs are VERY thin and quite difficult to see, at least for me at 61 years old with failing eyesight. This might be something to consider buying a new scope.
Now, my scope isn't illuminated and having this feature in the Orion scope might compensate for the very thin crosshairs, making it easier to see.
My first encounter, decades ago, with a ffp scope was a very expensive scope from a German manufacturer. At the lowest zoom setting the crosshairs were just right but at maximum zoom the crosshairs appeared to be so thick that precise shooting became very difficult due to the aiming point being completely obscured.
The "thin" crosshairs on the more modern scopes are practically unusable at minimum zoom but this is unfortunately an unwanted trade off when you make the scope usable at higher magnification.
Thanks for the video Andy and the awesome discount code. I was originally considering buying a Veyron scope but having watched this video I instantly bought the Orion. £186 is an absolute bargain, thank you once again and keep up the fantastic content.
Excellent detailed explanations of the scope features. Always good to learn and you clearly explained the benefits to the shooter. Thanks
Yet another brilliant review Andy .I always look forward to and enjoy watching them .
Wow. At the discounted price, this has so many great features I had to buy one right now. And...this is at a time when Hawke are reducing some scopes in their range which might be a competitor! What a scope for an entry level shooter!! What a scope for a seasoned shooter too and (Julia at Vector air told me) it will take a 308 FAC round. Excellent video for the tech stuff. Well done Andy.
Cracking scope for the money! I've been 'dialing' for years since my FT days, so a scope that is set up for it is a bonus in my book. 1 question.....are the mounts dovetail or weaver fitting? No big deal, but would be nice for them to go straight on my gun.
I think you can request dovetail or weaver/picatiny at point of sale..
You can specify either dovetail / picatinny when you order from Vector Air 👍
Not only do you get a choice of three types of fittings there is also a choice of heights.
@@m1cxfyou can, the mediums take it very close to my 95 cylinder, I've ordered some additional high mounts as I think it'll help for where my cheek weld has traditionally been.
Also bear in mind the eye relief is 3 1/2 inch's which is a bit further than some.
Cracking scope though but coming from a Hawke, it just takes getting used to.
I’m running vector optics on all my rifles and really can’t fault them, price point is bang on and quality is excellent.
Very helpfull,cheers mate.
That's amazing value fo rmoney for the quality and included features. I'll definitely be adding one of these to my collection. Great review Andy. :D 👍
Bit strange when no rifle or pistol is reviewed but this scope review made a very informative and interesting view! Throughly enjoyed it!👍🏻
Really good explanation of the differences between first and second focal plane that is easily understood
Excellent video, thanks
They don"t send these to Switzerland.
I tried to buy one...
Love your reviews, wish you all the Best Good Sir.
Excellent review and walk through, appreciated the technical detail plus explanation 👍
THANK YOU! JUST ORDERED MINE!
What a great review Andy. Well done Sir!
Hi Andy very helpful and interesting to me as a complete beginner but I’m still not sure what hold over and hold under means any chance you could demo or explain that bit please. Glyn.
hold is when you don't use bag centre of the cross. instead you use the notches around the centre to allow for distance and wind
Excellent timing have been thinking of one of these scopes for a while.
Thank you
Hi Andy thanks again for sharing this GREAT VALUE WELL MADE SCOPE with us. I really rate my VAYRONS. Which sit perfect on my bullpumps. Hope you all have a great weekend 🇬🇧🎯👍🏼
@@TheRealWindlePoons SO TRUE 🎯🇬🇧👍🏼
Bought the 6-24 x50 sfp yesterday from Vector Air fantastic discount thank you
nice informative review, i did some research a while back to see if i could find out the difference between FFP en SFP and i found the information needed to buy a FFP scope but andy explained it in easier laymens terms
so much of a help. newbee to the shooting seen and loving it. great content, many thanks👍
Really good review and informative as well, but still sounds complicated
A very good review Andy. Very informative, especially regarding FFP v SFP.
Spoyt on Andy!!
Great review, I have a couple of Vector Optics and they are brilliant scopes and the illuminated centre dot is perfect.
I have never used scopes before and have recently been thinking of getting one. Unfortubately trying to find one is so mind boggling. So much information to the point it becomes unintelligible. This presentation was such a refreshing change. I think a nice step by step tutorial starting at mounting and working through to setting it up to be able to actually hit the target showing all the pitfalls that are assumed everyone knows about but we don't. I would even be happy to voulenteer to be the student/victim if travel distance is reasonable.
It arrived today and I took my time setting it up following your previous presentations. That bit of knowledge from you made life so much easier. Thank you Andy for all the time you put in to each production.
Thanks Andy, I learned a lot.
I got one of these scopes recently, love it. I would definitely recommend 👍🏻
I just ordered that from Vector Air US! 299.00 is a GREAT PRICE!!! I can not wait until it arrives!!!
Thank you Andy, Technical videos very handy.
Yes very useful Andy.
Couldn’t help myself Andy at that price 😊
If you want to up your scope review game you need to provide internal scope picture from the camera.
great episode, this scope looks quality
Your best video to date, very helpful 👍
Greetings Andy and fellow viewers. What a nice scope!!! I think this will be perfect for my Weihrauch HW77K and even competition CZ457. Adding some information on the glass itself: multicoating \ clearness \ field of view \ fog-proof etcetera, would have made an already great video even greater. 😊 I'll check the website then.
Thanks Andy.
Great review Andy thanks well explained 👍
Nice scope wirh nice features.
I though settled last week for a Theta Optics 2.5-10x40 scope for under 90 bucks..😂
Not gonna shoot that far anyways. Gonna go as an alternate scope on my Sig Sauer Virtus, which is more of a plinker anyways. The current Tasco 4x32 been good up to my max 25m range - but I wanted to try a more magnification setup for that same distance.
spot on Andy, a very helpful video 👍
This is a cracking scope and at this price point its a no brainer. Also looks very nice on my HW110.
First focal plane is the best and that Orion scope at that price is unbelievable as i have 3 scopes and one i paid 4x that price with the same features, I’m gutted but as they say he who waits benefits, good review as usual and helpful to non focal plane users👍
Great over view, thanks. I have a mix of SFP & FFP but much prefer the FFP as accuracy is key for me and FFP makes it easier for the hold over etc at any magnification but onc eyou know your scopew and rifle you get used to SFP. Looks like a great scope.
Very informative and a good value scope.
Just ordered one.£186. Thanks Andy 👍
Morning all
I use Hawke Vantage 4/32 Ao. It's got MilDot, and that's all I need. Spot on at 30 meter, 1 dot up and it's right on 40 meters. Finally 2 dots up gives a perfect 50 meters. The scope is light and compact with 10 meter up Ao...
Why make things more complicated and expensive than needed?
Great review, very informative.
Might upgrade my hawke with this thanks!
Very informative thank you learnt a lot
Wow thanks Andy a cracking scope good price too!
Top explaination Andy👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍😎😎😎😎😎😎
Great review, what a steal 👏
Nice review, appreciated. 👍
Thank you.
Nice review Andy what about the gun rests you use, two off them I think. The little black number is quite appealing 😊
Thanks
...and free delivery on Vector Optics products right now. What's there not to like 😃.
Looks a really good scope, I use the sentinel x 10-40 for bench rest and it’s brilliant so no doubt this will be good too, would be great if it had a higher mag for bench rest too
@@TheRealWindlePoons I’ll be honest I’ve never heard anything bad about them, there’s a few guys at our range with them, and one guy who swears by them so much he has about 7 rifles set up with them
Andy, is the adjustment on the side turret the equivalent to front adjustable parallax?
Sounds great but how do they stack up compared to similar spec Veyron scopes in terms of clarity and price ? and how well do they perform in low light conditions , a side by side comparison would be nice . Thanks Andy & Mrs AAR , catch You next time . Shoot Straight Stay Safe & Stay Well .
I’ve got a Veyron FFP and an Orion SFP, not a lot to choose between the 2, the Veyron more suited to bullpup/adjustable stocked rifles, mounting options are more restricted due to it’s size, If I had to choose between the to 2, the Orion would be the on I’d go for.
I hope you're on commission Andy! Just bought mine from Vector 😊
Good package that need to get one 👌
Hi Andy.Love your AAR channel. Ca you compare ORION Scope with Howke 6-24×50 AO IR Scope? Or tell your opinion.
Great video. Can you or someone here help me, you said at 2.40 that this scope can be used on springer and bullet rifles as well. Is it not possible to use the same type of scope on pcp, springer and traditional .22 bullet rifles ? Interested in getting to sport, in the research phase. Thanks in advance
Heyup Andy, a great review and break down on the scopes functions, i purchased one of these couple of weeks or so, i got the second focal plain version, i was out using it yesterday, and i have to agree the clarity of the glass is awesome, you caunt go wrong with any of the vector range, i would say there is not at the present time any thing out there that can compare to them in the said given price range, great product at a great price, whats not to like, Cheers 👌👌👌👌👌👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
I must have been psychic with my comment last week. Scope review yea! Many thanks and a cracking scope.
Just one thing missed, the elevation range of the scope?? Or did i miss it?
Just been on Vector's website and its 30mil.
Happy hunting all.
Anyone fitting a 56mm scope with 34mm tube on a HW100, and have any thoughts on the mount size? I’m assuming it’s sensible to go for higher mounts, especially if getting flip up lens protectors.
Hi can u tell me what the best pellet for walther ppqm2q5
I use same scope on my snowpeak M25.
Morning all I have been having a bi of trouble down at my shooting club .When I've been shooting at the range I noticed the centre target was Getting out of focus ? couldn't figure it out till I went for my Glaucoma eye test turns out I've got the start of Cataracts dead centre of my pupil . Not happy !!
Another great review your the go to as the yanks say channel Andy 🥇
Where can you get a good/small tank for a decent price?
😢I can't get this deal in the USA.
Good morning everyone. Does someone know if the mount fits a Picatinny rail? I Have a Kral Nish and I absolutely need to upgrade the scope. This is my first air rifle and I got into this amazing sport because of this amazing Channel and this nice community. Thanks
I have two of these scopes so far and mounts included fit pica tinny rails .
I’m very new to all this. Was thinking about getting the VANTAGE 30 WA SF 4-16x50. Any advice on which one would be best
I believe this is around £100 less…..
@@AAROnairdo you know what. I have a feeling that your really like the Orion so I’m pretty sure I would too
I have an FFP scope that behaves like a SFP scope. It doesn't hold zero when I change the magnification. I am baffled. Could I be doing something wrong?
For me this might be a worthy upgrade and a bit of a bargain 🤔
Nice scope. Is it break barrel rated ?
If it's rated for firearms use, then it's more than OK for sub 12ft/lbs springers.
I'd probably use this up to .270 win mag, but any larger calibre (.270 Win Mag, .303, .308 Lapua etc) I'd look at something more substantial...?
👍
