I’ve had lots of narrow boat holidays and really enjoyed them, however I’m not sure the slow pace of life on the water would be enough for you two intrepid explorers ❤
I totally agree. Given Liam and Janine"s trip round India, I would say they need more up beat adventures. I would cry if i lived on a narrow boat as the pace of life is too slow. But great for holidays for sure ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Hi. We live on a 70' narrowboat in a really nice marina. Mooring cost is approx 4000 pa. This is reduced when we go travelling in our old Transit camper. Off next week for 3months in greece. It does take a while to get used to the slow pace, but when you do you truly appreciate it. Maintenance is not that frightening if you do it regularly. If you need any info, please pm. Great video by the way 👍
I love a narrow boat holiday. I went on my first trip with school when I was 13. 2 boats, 2 teachers (1 a nun) and 16 girls. I loved it. The best bit was going through the locks. Loved it so much we convinced our 6th form history teachers to take us again. Been on holidays with friends since then. Absolutely amazing. It’s a slow pace, but great for thinking space and getting to appreciate nature. I hope you enjoy it, you slow down, and there’s room to do your yoga indoors if it rains.Stay safe and happy travels xx
Oh yes the yoga. Liam and Janine did their yoga ttc in India. Perhaps some retreats on a narrow boat would be great for them in between their faster pace trips ❤❤❤❤❤❤ i am more of a slow traveler but not sure of a narrow boat as I like living in Indian culture amongst the locals and deepening into their way of life. Sounds as though u have had some epic experiences on boats hun. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
So glad you enjoyed your holiday onboard Goldberry from Chas Hardern. Well done, like ducks to water! Looking forward to watching your future adventures :)
I'm concerned about the coming costs of canal life. The costs are about to go through the roof. Obviously someone has seen the opertunity to make serious money out of the canal system and the government are pulling out of subsidising it. I'm selling my boat as it's about to become unaffordable for us and I suspect many many others.
Oh no! Really!? We had been looking at canal life as a retirement plan. It sounds like there's a big story here, I'm going to look for information, thanks!
I love our narrowboat, you can enjoy life in the slow lane or go into the city, there's lots of rail connections if you need to go anywhere faster. I read the comments on costs going up but it's the same no matter which way of life you choose, the good thing about boat life for us is if you don't like the area or neighbours just move your home, it's really cosy in winter as well. The majority of boaters are great people always willing to help or advise, it's a good community spirit in my experience xx
I lived on my houseboat , for ten years . When it’s good it’s great , when it’s bad , it terrible , The negetive is maintanence and bad weather . But the positives are better, moon and sunrises on the water are amazing , community of boat lovers etc , love it 💚🍀💐🙏 I can see you guys living on a boat 😇
Janine, you handled that boat like a pro!! I see you guys more doing something ‘busy’ like buying land in Bulgaria or Portugal, setting up a tiny home and being off grid, growing vegetables etc. So excited for your new chapter!
Loved this video! You two are so good together, I think you have lived many previous lives together as soul mates. I wish you every success in whatever you decide to do next ❤
I can’t remember the TH-cam ladies name but she does vlogs of herself living on a narrow boat with her dog . She records daily her experiences and draws nature pictures that goes in her journal . She’s really good to watch and give you some ideas . If you do the boat life I would return to watch you I absolutely love boats and water very relaxing and calming many happy years when I was younger on the Norfolk broads ❤ Skipton canal is beautiful as well The Mindful narrow boat is the ladies channel on TH-cam
Beautiful mini adventure! I can see you coming back to boats whenever you feel the need to slow down and let your souls catch up, but I can’t see the pace suiting you long term for quite a while yet!
This time of the year and the autumn is beautiful on the canals. BUT, the time to decide if you want to do it long term is during the summer and winter. In the winter many of the canals are closed for maintenance between December and March so you can be stuck for months in the same spot. In the summer you face queue's for most of the locks and these can involve hours of waiting. Don't make any decisions based on your experiences in spring and autumn.....
Hey guys - what a beautiful film x we absolutely loved sharing this new experience with you and seeing the pair of you looking so relaxed and having a proper laugh after all the chaos lately!! Safe and happy travels Liam & Janine, we look forward to seeing where you go next! And how you travel! Oh and we're in the draw 😀👍
It was refreshing to see narrow boating from the perspective of two total novices. For anyone who has never done it before and was perhaps thinking of even just a holiday on a boat then I think your film would give them the confidence to try it. Seeing the fears you had initially and the simple mistakes made shows that it is ok to have those fears and mistakes happen but you manage. Excellent video. My wife and I are in our 70's and have never had a narrowboat holiday. The other half would love to try it but if I am honest even at 71 years old it still seems a little too slow a life for me.
'Dire state of emergency - no tea bags' 🤣🤣🤣 Very British indeed! Lovely vlog - very nice and peaceful. Love Chester, visit there often and stay for a few nights. Lovely walk along the canal and seeing the narrowboats, does seem like a nice way of life. Looking forward to your next adventure
You will love it. Over the years we have had a couple of live a board narrow boats. You can't get any closer to nature than being in it. Such a lovely way of life. The hardest part is choosing your boat. Have fun ❤
Had a few enjoyable narrowboat holidays but don’t think it’s for you guys full time. Jannine wouldn’t survive the winters, out on deck steering or managing locks in the cold, rain, wind, snow 😱 Also you’d be quite restricted getting around anywhere from isolated moorings. Lots for you to think about 🤔
WELL....... * firstly im glad that ya got ya drone back 😊 *you two made yet another EXCELLENT film. *Im soooooo HAPPY that ya went on the narrow boat and experienced it as it must have been a GREAT retreat for u given all thats happened with Morgan and silly trolls. *I agree with you. You prefer a faster pace. For example, traveling in Pete across India!!!! *i think the boat is a great retreat space when you want downtime, a holiday for yoga, cooking, slowing down connection with nature etc. *You two are very brave. You are on the road, on the canal and selling your home and transport. You are in limbo with no fear ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
You two NEVER disappoint. How the two of you could make the slow pace of narrow boating EXCITING.is beyond the pale. Brava! ❤🧡💛💚💙💜🤎🖤🤍🤍🖤🤎💜💙💚💛💛💛💛💛💛💛💛🧡❤❤❤❤❤🧡🧡🧡💛
Check out Ben and Emily, they are ccurrently van lifing around Italy , but when they aren't they live in a narrowb oat and vlog about their experiences I have followed them and Adam and Lauren, I think their channel is this floating life, maybe home, they are also full of info on narrow boat life, oh and May, can't remember her channel name though, I mainly follow narrowboat living vlogs and yours is the only van life channel that I watch and enjoy. Check out Ulla and Josh they have a boat for sale and they take you on a tour of it and see the renovations that they have made it looks amazing and could give you ideas if you get a boat. Good luck.
I think you definitely tried it at the best time of year. Locks and finding moorings are very different during the busy summer months and not everyone who hires a boat is as humble, careful and respectful as you were. All the same, a canal boat holiday, as you experienced, is the best way to slow down and relax that I know, as long as you pick your season.
You both will get used to the Narrow Boat never give up trying you will succeed I wish you both all the best I seriously miss narrow boating but I will be returning to it very soon in the future
In the 70s myself and 11 others hired a traditional working barge that had been converted as a "camping" barge - so all sleeping under canvas. It was a blast.
My friend lives on a boat she said the community is awesome but the main panic is when storms hit and the risk of flooding. If you think your van wobbled in a storm wait til the storms are banging the boat into the sides of the bank
I live in a van and been researching costs of narrow boat life as well. Marina fees are a lot less depending on the size of the boat. I recently stayed at Overwater Marina which is just south of Nantwich and the fees were around 3k a year. This includes all your electric and water, toilet and shower facilities, use of washing machines and dryers as well as internet.
How big is your boat? I live on a 25ft sailing boat in a boatyard. The minimum charge is for 30ft. I pay about £2,600 per year but that doesn't include showers or electric.
Hi guys! So glad to see you tried out boat life for a week 🥰 I would say the costs you were told are quite high. It does depend where you want to moor of course but there are other mooring options that would be a lot cheaper. If you continuously cruise like we do the costs are pretty low. But yes the maintenance costs can definitely fluctuate! Xx
How amazing. It’s good that you tested it out first. I tested car living and travelling and decided it wasn’t for me so bought a caravan and doing a summer on a campsite as a cleaner.
Wow that was a surprise to wake up to your video of on a narrow boat while I had my breakfast. But you both looked so relaxed and chilled . Janine you were amazing driving the narrow boat. But like you said it’s getting expensive to have one with all the charges of mooring up. It’s something you will have to just look into. Because you do like to go off having these wonderful adventures as well . I don’t know it’s opposite end of the scale isn’t it you’ve got peace and quiet and you can see beautiful wildlife but then also you like to go off and have wonderful adventures . Best of luck to you both and whatever decision you make, we will all be following you . Xx
Wow what a surprise! I did not expect a houseboat at all, but I must say it does look lovely, cosy and very calming! I'm really enjoying seeing you try different housing options while having fun and exploring the world! This episode also reminds me of a memory I'm particularly fond of (spending a week on a houseboat in Ireland with my family when I was 13, the last vacation I got to spend with my father before he died) so thank you for that! ❤ I hope you soon reach your goal with the Morgan raffle🙏 Countless blessings to you both!
I love you guys. It brings me so much comfort to watch you: I recently went through a break up and am experiencing heartbreak and I used to watch you guys when I was still in that relationship (started on your India series) and my ex is Indian (I was living there etc) but despite all that I'm still able to watch your videos and enjoy because as I said, you both bring me a comfort that few things currently are.
Just be aware, living on a boat may not agree with your breathing problems in the long run. Particularly in the winter damp months. Great to see you both enjoying the new venture.❤❤
Hey both, welcome to my world. I live on a narrowboat and wouldn’t swap it now, for the world. Was such a pleasure to see you take up the challenge. And see you slow down a bit! Thank you for keeping us so entertained. You reminded me of us when we first started but it’s amazing how quickly you get into it. Love this life. Roll on your next vlog xxx
I watched your journey for over two years now and loved every video youve made but, watching you rwo with the narrow boat shananigins made me laugh out load from start to finish im 75 years old and live on my own i really look forward to Sundays cant wait to to see what you do next xx
couple ways live afloat, continous cruising, meaning move every two weeks , all the time or get a winter mooring from october over winter, or a mooring - they vary in cost around the country and there are various types from canal side, to marinas , with different levels of facilities. advice is generally to find a mooring first if that is your choice. Go to crick boat show check out lots of narrowboat chanels such as cruising the cut etc. Maintenance is important and we have to have 4 yearly inspections for boat safety cert with out which the boat cannot be in the water. Throw in boat licence which is based on lenght of boat and if you have a home mooring or not and also more than one body governs uk inland waters. In the wintertime there are a lot of closures on the network for maintenace which effects ease of movement too. I have been on the waterways since 2016 and currently waiting to take posssion of a new build adapted boat after living aboard a former black prince hire boat for a few years with a couple of others inbtween. I spent time assure following major surgery and hated it so returned to waterways. It is very much a way of life and by no means the cheapest option,
Hey you two , I agree canal life, although lovely, for a short time is definitely toooooo sloooow for you both at this time in your life. Wonder where you’ll take us next !! 😀
Hi to you both, enjoyed the video, just a little bit of insight about the area you were, you have Nantwich, middlewich, leftwich and Northwich the wich part in the names means salt mine, that's the reason for the canal to transport salt, out of the mines,👍
Hi Guys! Wow what a challenge, lovely boat well equipped,I’ve always wanted to try one but never got round to it,just got to navigate the locks! Use will be fine you 2 can do anything! Looks lovely a peaceful tho, oh no Janine the shots looked great to, hope it’s working👍use look quite happy now I knew use could do it, perfect right outside Waitrose what more could you want, some lovely sights along the way, glad the drones working great shots, wow food looked lovely what a lovely park up in Chester, not far from me!I’ve absolutely loved this video different from what use usually do, but really interesting and entertaining, thank you so much for sharing, see u on the nxt one take care stay safe love use ❤❤
Another wonderful video! Sadly I missed the boat trip my family took years ago but they really enjoyed it. It looks just beautiful. As always thank you for sharing.
I hope unlike me you use cool water in a hot water bottle. As I had a terrible accident with mine and would never use one again. I found a better option I now put a blanket (not an electric) over me first before sheet or quilt. It has seen me through winters and works very fast. Love your new boating idea.
I think Liam would hate being on boat. He’s too restless and life would be too slow for him. Most people live on them narrowboats don’t go anywhere. Great blog.❤
We still have our camper and have shares in 2 different boats a cruiser and a narrow boat ...Best of all worlds ...there are only 2 of us the locks get easier and always someone who will help ...really friendly community
OMG I can't believe that you have been in my neck of the woods this week. The Cheshire canal system is famous and my town, Middlewich, holds an annual Folk'n'Boat festival which attracts boaters from all over the country. Thanks for sharing this mini adventure ❤❤❤
Just watched this episode whilst on our boat currently moored at Nantwich at the same spot as you moored. Co-incidence made me feel lucky so just bought 5 tickets for your raffle. I’d have to give Morgan to my children to use with my grandchildren as we have just converted an electric campervan and loving it. Been watching your channel since the Whitby episode in your old white van. Looking forward to watching the next episode in your life.
I don't think I would ever be surprised about what you guys get up to 😜. I think adventure will always be on the cards. Always a joy to watch you what ever you do and look forward to the next chapter 👌😁💖🤗😘
Some here we had a motorhome for over 22 years. And permanently in it 10 years travelled all over Europe, and hiring in a van in Australia America etc still love it.
We've always fancied a narrow boat holiday. You've given us an insight to how it works,. Looks absolutely amazing. You both look like you've had a wonderful time. Looking forward to your next adventure.! Have a great week both. 😊🏴🏴
Permanent boaters have proper internet masts with routers so internet wouldn’t usually be an issue but those holiday boats don’t tend to have them. You would get the hang of it all. It’s totally new to you guys. I follow quite a few boaters even some fully electric ones. The canal system is stunning
The costs are either London Centric (Avon canal area too) or hyperbole. You can live as cheaply as you want. I live not far from where you have been travelling in this boat and the costs here are substantially less than what people have said. Yes, the poshest of Marinas in a 70 foot boat will be that price but you guys wouldn't need a 70 foot boat. The costs of everything on a boat is donated by it's length (and sometimes it's width "beam" too). There's a lot of people who try to scare people off living on boats by the cost they say it will be. It is almost always cheaper than living in bricks and mortar unless you buy something far too large or an absolute lemon.
We tried narrowboating in Broxbourne Herts for the first time in 2005 (before doing 2 years in a campervan). We had the extra complication of having the BBC cameras with us all the time for the short-lived series "Holidays at Home". The 2 daytimes were great but sleeping in a mouldy environment made me ill! The BBC crew of course booked into a posh hotel!. We visited Chester in our campervan as well and it is one of our favourite towns with good parking in Little Roodie, a good museum, the ancient walls and a lovely old town to explore.
I’m genuinely very happy for you both. I’ve never been on a narrow boat but I live in Northampton with lots of boats travelling along its canal and one thing I’ve noticed is that no one has ever got off one with a sad face. Winning at life I think.
What a great video and so glad you found Canal boating. I am nor surprised that it is a not yet answer. Go and enjoy and share some amazing adventures. ❤
Really enjoyable watch. The sun came out as I started watching and thanks so much for sharing. Wonderful as always and great positive vibes from both of you. 👍😊
It would be a more comfortable and calming lifestyle with more community. Limited by the canals, though England is criss crossed by them, a couple of ebikes and it would be hard to beat. If you can find somewhere cheap to leave it, might be places on the outskirts of the canal network, when you go on holidays even better.
I love this video! Brings back wonderful memories of a family holiday back in the late 80's :D I steered a 72ft boat up the Severn in full flood, we were only just allowed to go on to the river (it was part of the Stourport Ring). Didn't like mooring up and sleeping near the cities but the countryside was stunning. I've often thought I'd like to live on a narrow boat, I would dig the slowness. Seeing the Kingfisher was a treat, such shy birds....thanks for sharing this adventure, it cheered me up and made me smile. Good luck with all of your plans and just a gentle suggestion, Janine might benefit from some hypnotherapy to help with her confidence (if you don't mind me saying), you both have done so much, she deserves to feel accomplished and proud of herself. Lots of love xXx
Really hope you enjoy narrowboat life, you both are such an inspiration. I follow van life and narrowboat life & Heidi the narrowboat pirate is well worth watching. Again wishing you both the best of luck.
You’ll get the hang of it eventually and feel confident. My dad had a motorhome, static caravan and a narrowboat but mum loved the narrowboat best of all. Dad sold it when he got ill and a young couple bought it to live on. It was called “Moonglow” Enjoy. x
Hi we have a 58 ft narrow boat and we have owned it for 2 years now, marina costs have varied from £1200 for the first year ( no electric hook up or water point on your pontoon to £3k with electric and water point on pontoon )- I personally would watch you tube vlogs on the cost of living on a narrow boat there is a lot of information out there,. Well done on your first trip , you both done so well, hope your find what your looking for, and maybe we might see you on the canals and rivers in the future, good luck
Great video and interesting hearing your thoughts on boatlife vs van life. We've loved vloging our boat life over the past few years but are now considering transitioning to lorrylife in a converted 7.5t wagon. I think your everyday costs of living on a narrowboat can be a lot cheaper, depending on your boat and how it's set up. 90% of all the electric and hot water we use comes from our solar panels and our heating costs are next to nothing as we always get free wood. We're out on the cut all year round so dont have to worry about mooring costs. As you mentioned, the only thing you have to worry about is maintenence costs, as if you're not very handy it can soon mount up if you have to pay for the more basic jobs.
I'm thinking you made the right decision. Perhaps you should get a Cabin Cruiser that you could take across Channel and explore the coastline. Tip. Turn right at Calais. Good luck whatever you do and thanks for your very good vlogs.
I've often thought about what an experience would be like living in a narrow boat the feeling of nature and the wildlife, and I have to say you guys nailed it with this amazing experience and well documented video. Thank you so much both of you, for sharing your personal experience and a dream of mine 🎉❤
Great change of video boat/van life!! When you mentioned you wanted to visit Chester I thought I'd mention looking round the boat museum in Ellesmere port but the next part of the video you were there. I hope you enjoyed all your time on the boat and it was nice to see you visit our neck of the woods. Stay safe guys.👋
I lived on a boat for 18 years and moved off only because I didn't want to face my seventies in an aging boat. I agree that you both are too young to make a narrowboat your main adventure. If you end up in a position to afford a new boat and maintain it when you reach your mid sixties it might be a good way to go. Boating is not a cheap option and at some point the hull will need replating which for a 50 footer will be at least 12 grand. The bad news on top of that is people don't like buying replated boats so your treasured home will lose more than half it's value. In short there are many aspects of narrowboat life which are amazing but in the long run it does come with a big financial loss long term.
Locks are horrible to start off with but you soon get used to them. It's just running out of food n miles away from the nearest shops lol happened to me 😂 It's all good fun, here's to your new adventure, have lots of fun 😊 xxxx
Of all the adventures you have shared with us, this has to be the funniest 😂 Thank for the laughs and your uplifting positivity. And wow, that beautiful kingfisher! It posed just for you! Best wishes for whatever you have planned next ❤
Long time viewer, never commented before. Best video in a long time, great to see you happy! Boating is definitely something to consider for now or in the the future. Stay happy!
I do know that you have to pay to take the boat out of the water at intervals. I think it’s to recondition the bottom of the boat. It’s also VERY cold in the winter months as the water is so cold. But with good heating it would be very livable. Wonderful peace of mind in a boat though… could well be worth a go more long term. You two seem to navigate stumbling blocks well. Whatever… lovely trip. See you on the next one. ❤
Liam take a look at Fox’s Afloat, they lived on a narrow boat for several years I followed them they are great. They now live in a Croft in Scotland. If you take a look at their “older” adventures on the canals it may be helpful for you 🤗
So strange how i knew you guys were going to go narrow boating when you said you were selling the van lol. Great choice and perfect way to slow down and enjoy life. Summer this year should be amazing for you both. Looking forward to following your journey ❤
I’m loving it! It’s all an learning experience, Janine you did amazing as the captain of your new temp home.. and it’s the reverse sentence “I would touch that with a 10ft barge pole” 😂👌👍 Nantwich was nice.. 👍
I've had a canal boat for 12 years which I've recently sold the average mooring fees for a 57ft boat are around 3k a year then £1200 a year boat licence it's about 250 a year boat insurance then your diesel costs a year every 2 years your boat needs to be pulled out and the the blacked if you do it yourself it's just your pull out fees which are about £300.,obviously if you choose to constant cruise all year which alot of people do then your saving on your marina fees. It's definitely a great life and one I miss I sold the boat because I lost my husband. The canal you just sailed was my area I moored at Tattenhall marina just up the canal from chaz harding. Enjoy x
So pleased that you decided to have a go at canal life and it's really interesting watching you get to grips with it. I've never stayed in a barge myself, but live in a beautiful part of High Peak Derbyshire called Buxworth that has a historic canal basin, which has many boating visitors all year round. There are some great pubs round here, like the Navigation Inn and some nice cafe's, restaurants and a top Indian take-away called Ikrams close to the Whaley Bridge Canal Basin. There are also many stunning walks up the peaks, like Chinley Churn, Eccles Pike and the Goyt Valley. I'm really looking forward to watching all your adventures on the water to see where you go! :)

Hope sale goes well xxx Son hired narrow boat for a day for his birthday it was so nice but not to live in for me love our motorhome lol 😊
I just bought 10 tickets. Good luck everyone 😘
I imagine there's lots more time to develop [new] hobbies/ skills, to read/write.
Really enjoyed your vlog Liam & Janine… many thanks for sharing your first experience (‘dipping your toe in the water’) of canal boat life! xx
I kind of agree, but I wonder if it would be a really good chapter for Liam and Janine, to slow right down for a wee while. It would do no harm....
I think they would LOVE it!
Hi. We live on a 70' narrowboat in a really nice marina. Mooring cost is approx 4000 pa. This is reduced when we go travelling in our old Transit camper. Off next week for 3months in greece. So glad you enjoyed your holiday onboard Goldberry from Chas Hardern. Well done, like ducks to water!
Looking forward to watching your future adventures :)
Thanks so much for hooking us up. Your canal boat hire site is great!
🎉I'm sure you haven't verified your email from your email inbox. You haven't checked spam since joining. You haven't even uploaded a profile picture.
I'm concerned about the coming costs of canal life. The costs are about to go through the roof. I'm selling my boat as it's about to become unaffordable for us and I suspect many many others.
Oh no! Really!? We had been looking at canal life as a retirement plan. It sounds like there's a big story here, I'm going to look for information, thanks!
I reckon it'll be on Google. Everything on Google now isn't it 🏴
I love our narrowboat, you can enjoy life in the slow lane or go into the city, there's lots of rail connections if you need to go anywhere faster.
I read the comments on costs going up but it's the same no matter which way of life you choose, the good thing about boat life for us is if you don't like the area or neighbours just move your home, it's really cosy in winter as well. Bear in mind that they've just spent £18,000 on their van.
Having a Caravan has also become very expensive.
Well done Janine, really impressed how quickly you picked up steering the canal boat! Look forward to hearing your future plans x
I lived on my houseboat , for ten years . When it’s good it’s great , when it’s bad , it terrible , The negetive is maintanence and bad weather . But the positives are better, moon and sunrises on the water are amazing , community of boat lovers etc , love it 💚🍀💐🙏

Beautiful mini adventure! I can see you coming back to boats whenever you feel the need to slow down and let your souls catch up, but I can’t see the pace suiting you long term for quite a while yet!
Wow!! What a shocker to wake up to on this fine Sunday morning. Looking forward to more thrills and spills along the way with you guys 😂

Yay! Best of lucky guys 🙏✨️🤞
Thank you, and I think your concerns are correct! Although I'm a proper hyperactive person and loved the chance to slow down a bit
Jannine wouldn’t survive the winters, out on deck steering or managing locks in the cold, rain, wind, snow 😱
Also you’d be quite restricted getting around anywhere from isolated moorings. Lots for you to think about 🤔
WELL.......
* firstly im glad that ya got ya drone back 😊
*you two made yet another EXCELLENT film.
You are in limbo with no fear
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
You two NEVER disappoint. How the two of you could make the slow pace of narrow boating EXCITING.is beyond the pale. Brava! ❤🧡💛💚💙💜🤎🖤🤍🤍🖤🤎💜💙💚💛💛💛💛💛💛💛💛🧡❤❤❤❤❤🧡🧡🧡💛
Janine done so amazing 💖 very well done sparkle ✨ It looks so calm and peaceful, it looks perfect for a stress free time ❤️
Love this! Well done both of you. Looking forward to find out what is happening next xx
Good luck.
Chatting to Ben as we speak 😀 super nice guys
Thanks for showing us around narrow boat life. You both picked it up so quickly. Onwards and Upwards❤❤❤
Thanks for watching!
Thank you, its definitely been an eye opener 🙏
You both will get used to the Narrow Boat never give up trying you will succeed I wish you both all the best I seriously miss narrow boating but I will be returning to it very soon in the future
You got some Really good shots and some Great charm in this video!... Goodjob guys!
In the 70s myself and 11 others hired a traditional working barge that had been converted as a "camping" barge - so all sleeping under canvas. It was a blast.
Nice, we saw some of them on the cut...what a great idea
My friend lives on a boat she said the community is awesome but the main panic is when storms hit and the risk of flooding. If you think your van wobbled in a storm wait til the storms are banging the boat into the sides of the bank
Love living full time on a boat, a winters night with the fire is awesome
I live in a van and been researching costs of narrow boat life as well. Marina fees are a lot less depending on the size of the boat. I recently stayed at Overwater Marina which is just south of Nantwich and the fees were around 3k a year. This includes all your electric and water, toilet and shower facilities, use of washing machines and dryers as well as internet.
How big is your boat?
I live on a 25ft sailing boat in a boatyard. The minimum charge is for 30ft.
I pay about £2,600 per year but that doesn't include showers or electric.
Best Video i have seen in a long time!.. Boat life definitely suits you! 🔑
Xx
Remember to travel on the right of the canals, totally opposite to driving on roads.
How amazing. It’s good that you tested it out first. I tested car living and travelling and decided it wasn’t for me so bought a caravan and doing a summer on a campsite as a cleaner.
Yeah we had to give it a go! We know that we love it now
Wow that was a surprise to wake up to your video of on a narrow boat while I had my breakfast.
Xx
That was my Nan walking through Nantwich Market. Couldn't believe my eyes! Brilliant.
We moved full time onto a narrowboat last October and was the best thing we ever did 😊you guys would love it. Such a peaceful way of life 🦢🦆
Wow what a surprise!
Lovely comment thank you , and we're pleased it brought back good memories
Locking yourself out encouraged me to stop for a cup of tea & a cookie. Great reminder to slow down.
Glad we helped
couple ways live afloat, continous cruising, meaning move every two weeks , all the time or get a winter mooring from october over winter, or a mooring - they vary in cost around the country and there are various types from canal side, to marinas , with different levels of facilities. advice is generally to find a mooring first if that is your choice.
It is very much a way of life and by no means the cheapest option,
What a breath of fresh air to the channel, I just really enjoyed watching you two just taking the time to travel. Can't wait to see the next video.
Thanks so much!
You must have passed by us as we’re moored in Nantwich for the winter. Welcome to visit and chat narrowboat life😊 best life ever!
Thank you x
I think you could do both, boat life in summer and van life in winter. At least then in winter you don't get frozen in on the water 😊
Never knew that!!! 😲
I’m so excited for our new journey…let’s have fun 🎉
I hope unlike me you use cool water in a hot water bottle. As I had a terrible accident with mine and would never use one again. I found a better option I now put a blanket (not an electric) over me first before sheet or quilt. It has seen me through winters and works very fast. Love your new boating idea.
I think Liam would hate being on boat. He’s too restless and life would be too slow for him. Most people live on them narrowboats don’t go anywhere. Great blog.❤
You maybe right
We still have our camper and have shares in 2 different boats a cruiser and a narrow boat ...Best of all worlds ...there are only 2 of us the locks get easier and always someone who will help ...really friendly community
OMG I can't believe that you have been in my neck of the woods this week. The Cheshire canal system is famous and my town, Middlewich, holds an annual Folk'n'Boat festival which attracts boaters from all over the country. Thanks for sharing this mini adventure ❤❤❤
Love love love the area ❤️ 😊
Welcome to my part of the country. Nice to see your on our canals. I just knew you would go for boat life. Well done 👍
Your kids would love him, we hope you win 😍
I don't think I would ever be surprised about what you guys get up to 😜. I think adventure will always be on the cards. Always a joy to watch you what ever you do and look forward to the next chapter 👌😁💖🤗😘
We had a great holiday on the narrow boats, lots of people living off grid, moving around the national canal network.
That was such an interesting diversion. I've been doing van life for over ten years now in New Zealand. I still love it!
Some here we had a motorhome for over 22 years. And permanently in it 10 years travelled all over Europe, and hiring in a van in Australia America etc still love it.
My parents lived on the cut for 3 years in a narrow boat …my Brother in a small cruise boat for a time ….nothing better than the canal system…
Wow you stars! Is it on TH-cam to rewatch ?
I’m genuinely very happy for you both. I’ve never been on a narrow boat but I live in Northampton with lots of boats travelling along its canal and one thing I’ve noticed is that no one has ever got off one with a sad face. Winning at life I think.
What a great video and so glad you found Canal boating. I am nor surprised that it is a not yet answer. Go and enjoy and share some amazing adventures. ❤
Thanks mate, yeah maybe a little too slow for now
Really enjoyable watch.
You guys did so well on the narrow boat , look forward to your next adventure xx
I'm hysterical Liam calling genine a knobhead good luck looks fantastic.
Love watching you guys doing a new challenge, Janine is like a pro turning the boat 😁
Really hope you enjoy narrowboat life, you both are such an inspiration.
I follow van life and narrowboat life & Heidi the narrowboat pirate is well worth watching.
Again wishing you both the best of luck.
Awesome! Thank you!
Great video thanks. We've tried a boating holiday ourselves and, for us, the van life is more preferable. Enjoy your next adventure 👍. Thank you
Great video and interesting hearing your thoughts on boatlife vs van life.
Fantastic, I've got some tickets and shared it to loads of my travelling friends 🙏💜🤞
Thank so much, that's so kind
Love this! I stopped following you for a while, but now your on a new adventure in waterworld I'm back. Look forward to next episode! ❤
Really enjoyed this video, we love narrow boat holidays, I felt like we were there with you 😀
I lived on a boat for 18 years and moved off only because I didn't want to face my seventies in an aging boat.
OMG Janine!! You did amazing! 😇You go girl!! Those boats are not easy and wehey look at you!🥰I love the thought of cruising the canals you so lucky!😍
Thanks so much, I ended up really enjoying it 😊
❤❤ really glad you are doing canal boating, nice change and relaxing for you both😊😊
Brilliant vlog guys 👏🏻👏🏻Never considered boat life, but would certainly look at a holiday in one, it looked amazing !
Locks are horrible to start off with but you soon get used to them. It's just running out of food n miles away from the nearest shops lol happened to me 😂
It's all good fun, here's to your new adventure, have lots of fun 😊 xxxx
Of all the adventures you have shared with us, this has to be the funniest 😂 Thank for the laughs and your uplifting positivity. And wow, that beautiful kingfisher! It posed just for you! Best wishes for whatever you have planned next ❤
That Kingfisher moment ✨️😲❤️
Long time viewer, never commented before. Best video in a long time, great to see you happy! Boating is definitely something to consider for now or in the the future. Stay happy!
Thanks so much for commenting, nice to meet you and have you on board. We loved boating, was something we would consider for the future for sure
If you take a look at their “older” adventures on the canals it may be helpful for you 🤗
Oh my goodness, don't go anywhere with out the frigging teabags!!! 😆🥰
Looks like this is going to be a great new adventure, enjoy 😊
So strange how i knew you guys were going to go narrow boating when you said you were selling the van lol. Great choice and perfect way to slow down and enjoy life. Summer this year should be amazing for you both. Looking forward to following your journey ❤
@@grahamjohnson4702 realised that at the end lol
