- On 8 March 2010 Jub Jub Maarohanye and his friend Themba Tshabalala caused a serious accident when they were drag racing under the influence of hard drugs on a public road near a school. Four children were killed and another two survived with brain damage.
On 5 December 2012, both were sentenced to 25 years in jail each for culpable homicide. The sentences were reduced from 25 years to 10 years and on 5 January 2017 he was released on parole after serving 4 years, one month and one day of his sentence, his fellow accused Themba Tshabalala was also released on parole the same day.
Whilst still in prison our guest wrote a song entitled "Ke kopa Tshwarelo" (please forgive me).

I used to live in the same complex with this dude. Even back then he was a good and humble dude (even though I think that his sentence was extremely light), I believe he has been rehabilitated, lets hope he doesnt dissapoint us and his people.

@Cobi Cat sad reality is that people take jub jub accident hard, i grew up 5 min away from that bridge and a whole lot of school kids have been killed on that road you only know of his accident cause his famous. A truck driver killed more than 10 kids in the morning drunk it never hit the media that's a simple example. Let it go his only human like all of us

No amount of jail time will recompense for the four lives that were broken and their families. He seems remorseful and has learnt his lesson and has paid his dues. Big up to him.

I was a prisoner before, what I can tell is, your behavior is the only way to make you serve lower sentence or more years, if you qualify for early release by your behavior nothing can change the mind of the parole board members

Why criticize the host. Should she have applauded him, while innocent lives were cut short? She's NOT the president of his fan club. She's an interviewer. She could have asked tougher questions. There are people in jail, serving longer sentences for minor offenses. So, killing innocent lives, =4years in jail? And he has the nerve to say that "I don't like to talk about my private life" He's not changed, he needs $$$ to finance his lifestyle. I bet he lost a lot of $$ due to legal fees. Probably, even paid the judge, too. I believe in second chances, but his prison time, is an insult.
