Defendants are entitled to a degree of privacy because they may be found not guilty. In my opinion, I think that a NG verdict should mean that the defendant can pick up the shreds of their life and should have as little damage inflicted on it as possible. Televised proceedings means that trials become entertainment where the lives of citizens are at stake.

They will only televise the sentencing notes and not the trial or any preliminary hearings. The sentence is usually passed weeks or months after the verdict/guilty plea for serious crimes. It depends on pre-sentencing reports etc. The usual reporting restrictions will still apply.

    Don't take it for granted.
It takes many centuries to nurture a justice system.
Who can forget the chimney sweep boy who found a ring in the Thames mud-flats.
Took it to a jeweller to be valued, and the jeweller stole the stone.
Turns out it was the Queen's jeweller, but the case went to court and the boy won.

This shows only 2 minutes of a 20 minute judges sentencing summary and without listening to it in full the opinion you reach will be totally incorrect because you will be ignorant of the full facts of this very complex and sad case.

That’s the whole reason for a jury. To listen to (and 21st century, watch) evidence, contemplate, digest and make a decision. Nothing has changed apart from it being digitally recorded.

    • @ClaireMakeupStudio
      @ClaireMakeupStudio 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

I watched the 20minute video and found this case truly truly sad… But most people wont watch it and absolutely jump to conclusion on thinking 10years was ridiculous of a sentence. He will most likely not be released after 10 years anyway, as showed in the longer video that man’s impact of life’s trauma is so deep that there is such a low chance of turning things around for him. Truly truly sad of a story.

@@FloatingCroc Nothing has changed yet, but when/if he appeals his sentence or reaches his parole date you will have the opinions of 2 sets of people: The ones who bothered to watch the full sentencing where this young mans brutal life is laid out, and the ones who saw this edit. You don't have to scroll down far to find people complaining about the leniency of the sentence, and public opinion has some capacity to change decisions, not as much as we probably like to think, but its there. Privacy is extremely important.
When your sense of privacy is violated, that feeling doesn't just "go away", it can leave a permanent scar.
As for judging other people, other human beings don't possess GOD-levels of knowledge to do this, so therefore cannot deem themselves suitable to do so in the first place.
Human beings are limited to learning, preventing, preempting, brainstorming, and teaching others *what they know to be true.*
As far as I'm concerned, I would simply tell anyone (were I "invited" to go to court (which is what it is - a *summons))* that their "law" is against my religion, as they're defying certain, more reliable scripture, in my estimation.
The onus would be on _them,_ to persuade me to come over to their side.

@@iloveyoushima I don't claim to know the truth of his backstory, whether in his defence, or otherwise.
As far as I'm concerned, it ought to be up to a culprit, to right any wrongs themselves (to their victims) unconditionally voluntarily.
A trial - and the presence of other people - aren't needed to establish this.
The whole thing is a joke to me - a pernicious control mechanism that STILL pervades society and undermines the nature of the human spirit.

It's time we bring back the death penalty. As soon as the government in charge realise this , the better. Too many sickos these days ☹️.

I dont care about this case sad as it is. MY CONCERN is the absolute CORRUPT SYSTEM and im glad more cameras will hopefully be allowed. This is because the CAMERA NEVER LIES. And im hoping this will keep judges and all public authorites ACCOUNTABLE. I continue to hope the public fight for our RIGHTS & have these autnority figures to start SERVING US.

I have a female friend who wanted a divorce on the grounds of adultery. She has autism she was told you no longer get legal aid for family court unless it’s on the grounds of domestic violence or statuary rape she was advised to report one of these allegations to get legal aid , that’s why family courts should ever be open courts

Bring your kids to watch the hangings. I disagree with this entirely .
Just fuels mob justice. Leads to show boating seudo celebrity judges.
    Justice is not entertainment.
It should be sad for everyone when someone slips into a life of criminality.
Someone who will not be able to contribute to society and make society better. There's entire families and communities who need to reconsile with court decisions.
