Ken Ham (of Answers in Genesis and the Creation Museum) prepares to unleash his "Ark Encounter" upon the public. The road toward completion has been a rocky one, with controversies about tax incentives and discriminatory hiring practices often leading the heated discussions for and against its existence.
In this broadcast, we speak with several people who have followed the story closely: Mikel and Ed Hensley of the Kentucky Secular Society, and author Dan Arel.

I'm always amazed how a Mormon or a devout Catholic will stand outside something like the Creationist Museum and get a good chuckle at Ken Hamm while their own beliefs are essentially just as preposterous. It's kind of like the guy who says he can jump over Mt. Everest, making fun of some other guy for saying he can jump over the moon.

I think we should ironically thank Ken Ham for demonstrating beyond any doubt that there is no way the biblical ark story has any truth in it. If it were true he could have built this thing with 8 people, using only iron age technology and it would float.

+Tell Max it concerns the Sandman
Oh, it would float ... for a little bit. It would also twist, leak badly as a result, and SINK. Look up the schooner Wyoming on Wikipedia or elsewhere and see what happens when a much smaller all-wood ship was built!

      @greendragonreprised6885 8 ปีที่แล้ว +6

Troubleshooter125 Well, yes. That's why I think Ken Ham and his group of science deniers should be made to test sail the thing. No innocent animals on board of course, no need for the innocent to suffer.
I'll admit I'm slightly worried that an anthropologist will dig up Ken Ham's ark in about 3 thousand years time and think it's the original, not that there ever was an original.

You were supposed to mark your pledge amount and sign your name to the flag and send it all back in a postage paid envelope. I was floored!! I signed the flag "Atheist" and mailed it back with a letter that ask them "WHY are you asking for money?? Noah did it with is family at the age of 500 ys old! WITHOUT money! Maybe you should pray for some 'gopher wood?'" Some how I really do not think they are going to stick my little flag out front of the "ark"...........XD

Especially, if you go around asking loudly where ALL the animals are, where the food is, why it didn't spoil, where the showels and wheelbarrows for the waste management are (incl asking for a demonstration of it), where the nursery is - since the lifespan of most animals would be much shorter then the actual trip, etc, etc, etc

I like the approach the japanese government takes on religion. Their basic attitude is this: You can do pretty much whatever you want (within the boundarie of the law of course), but whatever you do, you have to fund it yourself. There is absolutly no government money going into religous organisations and religious organisations follow the same laws any other business has to follow, including paying taxes. Pretty much any and all shrines and temples have a shop somewhere on their grounds where you can buy charms and accessories. And that money (after taxes) is used to pay for the shrines upkeep and the salaries of the priests.
I've been to a big shrine with several hectars of grounds in fukuoka. They had an amusement park on shrine grounds. Nothing like the ark encounter though, it was more like a miniature disney land.

We should thank Ken for proving that the Ark could not have been built in the way the Bible says.
Think about it: It took 1000 people 2 years, using cranes, trucks, pre-fab'ed building materials and power tools, with food and shelter provided to them (i.e. without them having to spend time on them).
Now, Ken, explain how Noah and his 3 sons should have accomplished this in "a couple decades" using bronze age tools while still raising lifestock and growing food on the side.

I wonder at what point during the 6 years of construction, using modern tools, and steel support, employing 1000 craftsmen do you consider that maybe a 500 year old man and stone age tools may have struggled to accomplish this project, not to mention that this construction has not been proven to be sea worthy.
Furthermore I wonder at what point do you wander around the inside of this construction and think to yourself, could 7000 kind of animals really have fitted and survived on such a contraption?

And another consideration is they used cubits as a measurement. Since cubit lengths would have differed between all of Noah’s clan the boat would have leaked like hell.
But that’s beside the point. If the ark was built and loaded with animals it would have blown up before water rose high enough for it to float. The amount of methane being farted and belched by all the animals would have produced enough methane to turn the ark into splinters and little pieces of animals and humans. Animal dung would have also produced an enormous amount of methane.
The ark had no ventilation system so all the methane would have quickly accumulated. There was only ONE window is the ark. It only takes a 5% concentration of methane to cause an explosion. But with the ark full of animals and no way to evacuate the inside air, methane concentrations would have built up far beyond the 5% threshold. The ark would have exploded killing every living creature on board.
KaBoom! ☠️☠️☠️ Adios Noah, his clan and all the animals on earth.

In your video of the Museum there was a banner that read: "The Flood . . .Recorded in the Fossils". When Ham starts interpreting the Fossils in light of that assumption, the only possible question would be, "Were you there, Ken?" But I suppose he would suggest the Bible authorizes the interpretation. But the Bible is the source of the hypothesis...Did they have a merry-go-round at the museum?

Better yet would be to have him explain how a Dove returned with a "freshly plucked Olive leaf" only 7 days after it couldn't find a place to perch, from a tree that had been submerged completely for 264 or so days (Gen 8:9-11). A tall (25-30 ft), shallow root (2-1/2 ft deep) tree that somehow got through all of YECs flood turmoil, turbulence, catastrophic upheavals, without being uprooted itself, without being buried with all the other flora and fauna. Without being affected by the vast shattering of the crust, the shattering of the continents into several continental plates, and the shifting of those continents thousands of miles in less than half a year. And it recovered from that in less than 7 days and produced leaves for the dove to pluck.
Gen 8:5 The waters continued to recede until the tenth month, and on the first day of the tenth month the tops of the mountains became visible.
Gen 8:6 After forty days Noah opened a window he had made in the ark
Gen 8:7 and sent out a raven, and it kept flying back and forth until the water had dried up from the earth. (Stout little bird, the waters weren't completely gone for a couple of months yet)
Gen 8:8 Then he sent out a dove to see if the water had receded from the surface of the ground. (because a visual inspection wouldn't reveal dry patches of land or mountain tops)
Gen 8:9 But the dove could find nowhere to perch because there was water over all the surface of the earth; so it returned to Noah in the ark. He reached out his hand and took the dove and brought it back to himself in the ark. (meaning that although the tops of mountains were visible, they were still underwater. It also means that the Olive Tree was still completely submerged)
Gen 8:10 He waited seven more days and again sent out the dove from the ark.
Gen 8:11 When the dove returned to him in the evening, there in its beak was a freshly plucked olive leaf! Then Noah knew that the water had receded from the earth. (you mean he couldn't tell with his own eyes that land was uncovered by water?🤔)
The flood that was so violent that it raised mountains by miles (according to YEC), buried flora and fauna in sedimentary layers sometimes miles deep, WITHOUT placing so much as ONE type of flora or fauna in the wrong layer all over the entire earth). Flood waters that were spewing out with such force that they would hit the ark like a matchbox boat being hit with a full pressure firehose.
Oh sure, please explain how that olive tree survived and was able to sprout leaves in such a short time after being uncovered "Mr." Ham. Preferably without resorting to literary gymnastics and/or "divine intervention" that isn't mentioned in that tale

@@philleprechaun6240 Good rundown Phil. Also, a dove could only fly 100 miles a day. So it would take the dove 240 days to fly around the earth without any food. I don’t know of any bird that can live 240 days without eating or stoping to rest. But to fly over the entire earth to see every square foot of the planet it would take thousands of years.
In genesis it said Noah released a dove and it returned later that evening. Given that a dove can only fly 100 miles in an entire day that means the dove Noah released flew at most 50 miles away from the ark. So like you said, if Noah was so close to land why did he need to send the dove out? Noah could have just seen the land. But even if Noah could see the land he couldn’t get to it. The ark had no propulsion system and no rudder. It was a damned barge. It would just float miles from land until all the water receded enough for the ark to settle on ground. But that poses the question: Where did all the water go? If the entire earth was flooded there would be no place for water to go to. Even evaporation couldn’t be an answer since evaporated water would eventually fall back to earth in the form of rain.
There are so many holes in the Bible it’s hard for me to understand how any human could believe anything in it. And how modern day humans could believe insane writings from primitive, barbaric men from thousands of years ago is just plain delusion.

    • @MovieMakingMan
      @MovieMakingMan 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

@@philleprechaun6240 Hey Phil, I’m in the middle of writing an article about how the Ark story is completely bogus.
The ‘flood’ was described as covering the entire earth. That means the ark would have floated on water at least 31,000 feet above the sea level before the flood. At that height the atmospheric pressure would have only been 4.3 PSI (pounds per square inch). The pressure at normal sea level is 14.7 PSI (or one atmosphere). So if the ark floated at that altitude every breathing animal would have died from hypoxia within minutes. Supposedly the ark floated for 370 days but it would have been a floating coffin.
In aircraft flight preparations adult passengers are told to put oxygen masks on in the case of loss of cabin pressure. Imagine being on a boat 31,000 feet in the air. As I stated, the atmospheric pressure would only be 4.3 PSI. Just as in an aircraft at 31,000 feet everyone would quickly die from oxygen starvation.
Here is another explanation. Imagine an airplane flying at 31,000 feet. The sea level before the flood would be 31,000 feet below the airplane. Even if the water level rose to 30,900 feet the atmospheric pressure would still be just 4.3 PSI. The airplane would be flying 100 feet above the water but still at the altitude of 31,000 feet. So the atmospheric pressure would be 4.3 PSI. So an unpressurized boat like the ark would be floating on water with an atmospheric pressure of only 4.3 PSI. Noah, his entire clan and all other breathing animals would die.
So I’ve provided two concrete reasons why the story of Noah and the flood never happened. It’s all myth just like the countless other stories of giant floods told by ancient people in cultures around the world. Most of those stories predate the Bible by hundreds or thousands of years so the story is not original to the Bible. In fact virtually no story in the Bible is original. That book is a collection of myths, legends and plagiarized stories from millennia before the Bible was written.
This book describes a lot of the myths that were plagiarized by the writers of the Bible. Btw, the Bible was almost entirely written by anonymous men. It was written, rewritten and edited and re-edited countless times. There are at least 500,000 edits and changes to the stories in the Bible, all done by anonymous scribes.
And to make matters worse, there are no chains of custody of any of the information in the Bible. One political party in the US tried to overturn elections if one ballot was suspected of losing its chain of custody. The same people who protested the alleged loss of chain of custody are the same people who say their lives completely revolve around the Bible even though there are no chains of custody of any of the stories in the Bible.
So according to science, facts and reality the story of the flood, and the building and ‘voyage’ of the ark are false. And I’ve already explained that even if true the ark would have blown up from a build up of methane from animals passing gas or everyone would have died from hypoxia (lack of oxygen) from being exposed to atmospheric pressures of only 4.3 PSI.

It tells me that Aig doesn't actually care what the truth is, and that they don't expect people to read the Bible(and interpret it for themselves). All that matters is that they all share Ken Ham's beliefs so they can give him more money.

Whilst this was very informative to people who haven't been following the ark debacle, I feel more details and research could have been included.
The employment discrimination is actually much worse than it sounds.
Most people who are only vaguely following the story (the governor for one), are assuming that only non-Christians will be refused employment, but given that over 80% of the population probably are Christian, then meh, who cares.
There are three requirements for employment, and they were mentioned in the above video.
But it is the salvation statement that is most concerning, because it specifically requires a born-again, Jesus commitment that will exclude Catholics and Mormons and Amish, as well as Jews, atheists, and anyone else who's got the self-respect to refuse to lie on the employment form about their beliefs.
Exactly how many unemployed young earth believing, born again Jesus freaks with no self-respect are there in Kentucky?

The need to shows proof of fitting 34,000 animals on the ark with enough room for them to sit, lay down and move around without just sitting in 3.5ft by 3.5ft by 3.5ft crates cuz math tells you that all room such a small boat could fit them
They need to show the room needed for food for 34,000 animals for 40 days and 40 nights which in reality would take up more space than the animals themselves

+Sandford2790 If they had given the money for animal welfare they could have helped ... how many animals?

+EdwardHowton I am not really sure Ken is a true lunatic. He is just the twenty first century version of a snake oil salesman who has put together a scam that supports him and most of his family.

beaconrider Shit, I read Kent instead of Ken. If you read this pre-edit, sorry.
I've seen Ken Ham's interviews. The smug expression on his face when he thinks he hasn't totally humiliated himself in front of his betters, the barely-repressed anger when faced with someone smarter than him, the creepy child-rapist vibe, he's an even easier call than Kent Hovind. Ken Ham is a fucking serial killer waiting to happen. Just one bad day away from hearing a voice in his head and cutting off heads.

So what happened with al the legalities?
Was any corporation sued, or had to alter their business practices under law, or did they get away with it scott free?

I don't mean this in a derogatory way but, your voice is so smooth and deep that I was surprised to see you looked how you do.

LOL! I don't blame Dan's kid for not wanting that cat portrait in his room.

This is so strange. Ham can get away with refusing to hire Christians, but surely Apple could not get away with violating anti-discrimination laws. Why are not Christians up in arms about this? If Ham is going to get all sorts of tax breaks, then all the citizens of Kentucky should benefit from the Ark Encounter.
