    You know, if they just posted a sign saying: "Hey, we're randomly spraying high velocity sewer water here!" the no trespassing signs would probably be unnecessary.

    This is called a spray irrigation field for treated wastewater. Looking at the map/aerial, there are two wastewater lagoons north and downgradient from the hill. The water is collected, pretreated, then pumped up the hillside and dispersed through a series of sprinkler heads that are spaced out on a pattern. The area is fenced because humans like to break things and file lawsuits. EDIT...made comment while watching video....got to end and Cliff figured it out!

      Exactly right. The valve is called a PIV, Post Indicator Valve.
      It's an underground valve, with a post sticking up above the ground that is used to open or close the valve, and it has a small window that will show if the valve is Open or Closed ie; Indicate valve position.

    Spray irrigation simply means that this treated effluent is applied--or sprayed--onto the land rather than released into a stream or waterbody. Spray irrigation of effluent always is preceded by treatment of the wastewater before it is land applied.

  • @kerryprance3767
    @kerryprance3767 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I agree. thats what we called a " land application system". A lot of times they are a temporary solution to wastewater problem when no creek is convenient. But as the sewage system is extended, a suitable creek may be accesses and the " Land App" area abandoned. It remains fenced for a number of possible reasons. 1) letting it decontaminate, 2) they may want to use it again. 3) removing it is probably not a high priority on their budget.

    I noted on the opposite side of that fence there is a perimeter road that is used, the red fire hydronats and then tall poles have sprinklerheads, obviously preplanned too keep the vegitation and trees well watered and incase of a forest fire.
    What ever is atop that hill, some one or an entity made a conscious effort to protect it.
    I spent some time in Western Pa, walking around in the wooded areas of Butler and Beaver Counties, I found all sorts of weird and interesting things out in the forest, stuff that did not make any sense on how it got out there, but, there it was. Like motor vehicles, large machines, what appeared to be an old kind of hey combine, ( I think ). So who knows what is up there or was up there.
