Hey, friends! If you were one of the first few hundred people to watch this, I was missing a few links from the description box. I think I have correct that, and there should be some links there now for some of these recipes! Sometimes this mom is just busy and my mind is running a mile a minute; and sometimes it runs right on by something and I have to double back later and get it done. Thanks for your understanding! :)
I appreciate you showing us how the second loaf of bread came out! That’s great especially for us beginners to see that sometimes it comes out a little bit different, and that it’s okay.
LOVED THIS! I particularly appreciated you showing the second loaf that “fell”. Too often we are shown perfection and that not only increases stress, it’s simply not realistic. Many thanks for this!!!!! 🍞
I still make the bread recipe I got from my grandmother 45 years ago. Huge recipe that makes about a dozen loaves and uses about 5 pounds of flour. I give a few loaves away and freeze the rest. One mess and bread available for a long time. It uses potatoes, really good for sandwiches, toast and either dinner rolls or cinnamon rolls. Homemade noodles are yummy too.
@@SeeMindyMom Same. And then years later I heard you're not supposed to eat raw cookie dough that is eggless...that one had me scratching my head. Come to find out you're not supposed to eat raw flour either... and there it is.
Thanks for watching, Billie! Sometimes convenience is worth it when we are in a busy season. I don’t fault people (or myself) for choosing that. But when I have the time, I like the taste of these things better from scratch. 😊
Love your posts. A quick note regarding being frugal. You can save on electricity by baking the oven full. You said you only have one bread pan, but you can bake in other shapes. A round loaf in a pie pan, etc. Also, Dollar Tree has aluminum bread pans in regular 9 X 5 and also mini loaves for about 33 cents a piece.
I tried them a few weeks ago for an extreme budget meal plan for my family and a viewer there suggested that I overtaxed the dough, so this time I mixed them by hand, and it was so much easier to roll them out!
Awesome! Great video! Many people do not realize how much money you can save by not using mixes for everything. The taste & quality are so much better from scratch too!
It seems expensive at first, if you have to stock your kitchen all at once, especially when buying many spices... but yes, mixes are VERY expensive comparatively.
Butter here in BC Canada is usually around the $5 per pound , I get it in sale for $3 and stick up and I usually have at least 12 in my freezer . That’s a great price for flour , I buy it at Costco. Sabina, thanks for the tip! I'm betting it will be on sale a lot of places in the next month or so. I usually find great prices on flour during the holidays.
I will say, these did not last long...lol! The kids already ate the muffins and half the pancakes, and the noodles I used in a soup this week. Time for another batch!
You should try Artisan Bread in 5 Mins a Day. Super easy. Can use less yeast (especially if you add sourdough starter). And not finicky at all. Most forgiving bread recipe I've ever tried. I have 3 kids and we're always running to and fro between extra curriculars, social events, and church, but I can still make a few loaves of fresh bread every week because of the 5 minute bread recipe.
Loved this video. I'm not planning on running out to do this anytime soon but I have always been curious how far a bag of flour could go. Thank you so much!
This was really a fun concept! Just think, all that you made for the price of just the breads, or maybe the batch of muffins (didn’t notice how many you made). One of the only good things about the past years’ madness and stay at home lockdowns - I found time to start making all our bread again.

Not sure if you just did this for the purposes of the video but if you buy a one pound bag of yeast on Amazon and stick it in the freezer it saves you so much money on yeast and lasts for years. It also doesn’t take up much room at all. It’s maybe five inches tall by a four wide.

Thanks for this video but you didn't show how you made the biscuits.
How do you store your bread?
I haven't been to Walmart for over a year.
When the flour is raw it contains bacteria. The warning is because some people like to eat the dough before bake it (ex. Cookie dough).
The second loaf of bread was over proofed thus it could not hold its structure.
You didn’t leave the noodles to let the gluten develop?
❤
People eat raw cookie dough all the time; the second loaf proofed for too long probably, that’s why it didn’t rise as well
