In a way, yes. People are selling to profit off the hype of his death which is wrong. If they had the listing up before then no I don't think that's wrong but if you go and jack the price up then yes that is wrong. It's a sticky situation because if people need money and they see these cards selling for ridiculous amounts of money then I think you should sell to get the money. But if you have money and you're just being greedy then that is morally wrong I feel. I'm still in shock to even think about which cards to sell or buy whether it be Kobe or anyone else.

Try to put a couple up at buy it now or best offer and see what happens. You might sell a bunch like that and keep the others. I would say to start with the lower end stuff first. Keep the higher end cards and any of them that may have sentimental value. If you getting ready to have a child, the smart thing to do would be to sell for sure. Like I said though, start with the lower end stuff because everything is selling well above market value ( I've seen cards up by 300% what they were selling a week ago. Save the big-ticket cards for later but the lower end stuff sell and get you a nice nest egg. That's what I would do if I were you. 👍

Two years ago I acquired a "PSA 9 Mint" 1996 Topps Chrome (Not refractor) for about $380. It has none of the "green arm" that some of them have. Not sure what it's going for today. RIP Kobe Bryant.

1996 was the first year where the amount of different sets exploded. There were so many awesome designs and sets that year. I still remember pulling a Kobe Gold Refractor from a pack. I was a dumbass and sold it for $400. Oh well.

Quick addendum to your commentary on #16. This is a very confusing card with a ton of parallels. There are four variations... 1. Factory set (no serial) 2. Insert ( #/3200) - the card shown 3. Holofoil (#/2000) 4. Holofoil gold (#/1000) Just passing along the extra knowledge to folks, as it took me some time to wrap my head around it.

I was told the chrome refractor rookie was selling for $100k for years before the $700k+ card sold, but you found it in the 20ks range. I bet that buyer sold it and bought a house (probably already had a house if he buys $20k+ cards.)

It wasn’t at the time of making this video. They were about even with the Credentials having the upper hand because it is serial numbered. The Chrome refractor definitely took 1st place after the tragedy though.

i think its because his early years as a player was also during the waning years of sports cards collecting and many people have been out of the hobby since, many only returning recently. i def expect those population of graded cards to start increasing because you know theres no way those numbers are at all reflective of the actual amount of these produced

I just found a kobe bryant topps chrome rookie card but I cant tell if it's the refractor.. its shiny metallic finish on it.. it's not in a good casing but still in great Condition.. how do I know if I have the right one.. and where do I get it graded and certified?

Here is my timeline: In 2018 I bought the Topps Chrome rookie Bryant for $400 (it was graded 9 mint by PSA). I just sold it a few weeks ago (Oct. 2020) for $2,500. Just a couple days ago I bought the non-Chrome Bryant rookie in an 8.5 for $250.

I have a closet dedicated to them. They are kept in boxes inside of totes. The higher end ones are kept in a large thick heavy safe. Lol.

If you have the Topps Chrome base card then it's pretty valuable. They sell for good money. Check the prices on eBay.

I know this was issued before, but I hope people don’t invest in Kobe and taking advantage of his passing. That’s just plain wrong.
I agree. Now is the worst time to buy anyway it’s a time to mourn. Kobe was one of my favorite players as a kid and even to this day. I can’t even fathom how I posted this video just two days ago. R.I.P. Kobe and Gianna.

I was told the chrome refractor rookie was selling for $100k for years before the $700k+ card sold, but you found it in the 20ks range. I bet that buyer sold it and bought a house (probably already had a house if he buys $20k+ cards.)

The Chrome Refractor is FAR more valuable than the Sky Box Cred.
It wasn’t at the time of making this video. They were about even with the Credentials having the upper hand because it is serial numbered. The Chrome refractor definitely took 1st place after the tragedy though.

i think its because his early years as a player was also during the waning years of sports cards collecting and many people have been out of the hobby since, many only returning recently. i def expect those population of graded cards to start increasing because you know theres no way those numbers are at all reflective of the actual amount of these produced

i sold all my basketball cards around 2012. Including a 96-97 fleer metal kobe bryant psa graded 10. sold it for 20. i seen one go on ebay for 3500 the other day
Yeah, almost everyone Kobe Bryant collector will have a similar story. His prices went through the roof after the recent tragedy. It’s utterly insane how the market reacted.

I just found a kobe bryant topps chrome rookie card but I cant tell if it's the refractor.. its shiny metallic finish on it.. it's not in a good casing but still in great Condition.. how do I know if I have the right one.. and where do I get it graded and certified?
If it doesn’t shine like a rainbow when you tilt it in light the it’s the base card but still very valuable. I have a video up on how to submit to Psa go check it out on my channel.

Here is my timeline: In 2018 I bought the Topps Chrome rookie Bryant for $400 (it was graded 9 mint by PSA). I just sold it a few weeks ago (Oct. 2020) for $2,500. Just a couple days ago I bought the non-Chrome Bryant rookie in an 8.5 for $250.
Randomly went through this old binder of basketball cards and found 2 topps chrome kobe Bryant rookie cards then watched this video..I can’t believe it
Went through all my cards and only found three :( Ive got the Topps card 138 but its not chrome :( however from my untrained eye i would say its in damn near perfect condition. also found a Hardwood Prospects card #19 and a Gamedated 75

Damn...I have #4 and #2 both are in 1" thick acrylic. They are mint condition just NOT PSA graded. I never knew how rare or how much it could be worth to someone.
