A Look inside Uposatha Hall of Buddha Bodhivana Monastery | Ajahn Dhammasiha | Ajahn Chah Tradition

Ajahn Dhammasiha takes us on a short tour inside the Uposatha Hall of Buddha Bodhivana Monastery, Warburton near Melbourne, the largest monastery in the tradition of Ajahn Chah in Australia.
The Uposatha Hall contains the main Buddha Statue of the monastery, and is enclosed by the Sīma, the monastic territory within which important 'Vinaya-kamma' like Pāṭimokkha Recitation and Ordinations are performed.
It's also used by the sangha daily for their evening and morning chanting & meditation, and for large events like the Kaṭhina Robe Offering Ceremony.
The large standing Buddha image is somewhat unusual in the use of the double handed Abhaya Mudra, the gesture of imparting fearlessness expressed with both hands (like the Buddha statue in the Uposatha Hall of Ajahn Chah's monastery Wat Nong Pah Pong). It refers to the event in the Buddha's lifetime when the relatives on his father's side, the Sakyans, and the relatives on his mother's side, the Koliyans, were on the brink of war over the dwindling water supplies of the river Rohini.
The Buddha succeeded in convincing them that it's not worth to spill the blood for numerous human beings for the sake of water, and re-established peace.
