    If you want to know if for sure you found all of them, leave the error on the systems page and restart home assistant. If you got them the error wont be there we you log back on.

    I just want to say thank you for this video. I am adding my first custom MQTT sensors and could not for the life of me figure out why it was not working. As a newbie, the documentation made no sense. I watched this video and 5 minutes later I solved my problem.
    Thanks!

    Not a lot of info on these notifications on how to repair these problems. I managed to fix mqtt (sensors and switches) and now i have two more problems to figure out:
    1. "The speedtest service is being removed"
    2. "The automation "all doors locked" (automation.doors_status) has an action that calls an unknown service: notify.mobile_app_cosmins_iphone."

  • @waynenocton

    If this works for me when I finally make it home from this work trip, I will definitely be buying you a coffee/beer. I somehow missed how the mqtt in the include line makes it not necessary in the new yaml file, I’m pretty sure this is why I couldn’t get mine to work early on in my home assistant learning.

    • @BogdanSass
      @BogdanSass 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It is not the include line, it is the new syntax - all MQTT sensors are defined under mqtt.sensor, so there is no need for the "platform:..." line.
      You can see the exact same pattern in the first part of the video, where he uses only one configuration file.

    • @waynenocton
      @waynenocton 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BogdanSass thanks for your reply, I struggle with this, but what I think I now understand is that because the mqtt is in the include line, it’s not needed in the new yaml file that the include line directs it to. Whereas I was starting the new yaml file with mqtt:, I believe in error.

    • @BogdanSass
      @BogdanSass 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@waynenocton I see what you mean now, and you are also correct - the idea is that you only need to say "MQTT" once. With includes, the included file(s) replace the !include directive - so the MQTT: part already exists in the config.

  • @fakryboy
    @fakryboy 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    How to resolve this problem if you have already separate sensors, switches, covers... and include them in configuration.yaml, and now need to include also mqtt? Does everything sensors, switches, covers...needs to be in mqqt.yaml, or you can separate it like its be before?

    • @SlackerLabs
      @SlackerLabs 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can separate like before. They just need as sensor, switch or so under the mqtt: integration. So in your configuration.yaml everything needs to be under just one mqtt: if you have packages you can put a mqtt: in each package.

    I recently bought a Dingtian DT-R008 8CH Smart Relay that I’m hoping to use in conjunction with temperature sensors to control zone valves for heat in my house. So far I have been to get the relay board connected to my network and the MQTT broker in HA, I added the switch entities via a .yaml file and I can control them via the HA dashboard but so far I’ve been up able to get them to turn on and off thru a automation script. Any help would be great. Thanks

    • @SlackerLabs
      @SlackerLabs ปีที่แล้ว

      As long as you can interact with the switches in home Assistant, then in an automation you would just need a trigger, and then in the action section of your automation you would use the call service option and use either the switch.turn_on service or the switch.turn_off service. Then just choose your switch entity you want to turn on or off.

    Hey man, i never had a problem with the thing i did from your channel until now. I have my configuration spkit with packages. I prepare a mqtt.yaml file and placed there all the switches.When i restart HA my MQTT didnt load and have this

    mqtt (Show logs)
    tasmota (Show logs)
    Any help?
    Thanks in advance

    • @SlackerLabs
      @SlackerLabs 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I would have to see what is in the log to really have an idea. But if you moved stuff to the mqtt.yaml. Make sure you don’t have a mqtt: in that file. And make sure everything in the mqtt.yaml is following to new format. No - platform: mqtt in there. The mqtt integration won’t understand the platform: mqtt

    • @waynenocton
      @waynenocton 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I had a heck of a time with the correct spacing and with when and where to put the - in. For whatever reason I ended up having to changed the order of the lines themselves also, but it did eventually work.

    No mention of the easiest way to define mqtt sensors? Auto-discovery under the 'homeassistant/[sensortype]" topic? That is what has my life easier.

    • @SlackerLabs

    device_tracker:
    - platform: mqtt
    devices:
