After reading some of the negative comments I watched a second time. A brave choice of material and a braver choice of instrument. We are now too used to the "perfect" recorded performance - which, of course, never happened (it was spliced together as a simulation. Thank you Miles Davis and Teo Macero!) This is a creditable student performance and the nerves show a little, rather more than in the jazz alto piece from the same set. I would rather listen to this live than sit alone listening to perfect music in my flat. I would rather be playing than criticising.
Nice job! At times you sound like a baroque oboe and at other times you sound like a baroque trompette (AKA The Brandenburg No. 2) - beautifully done! Keep up the wonderful work! :)
In my personal opinion Soprano Saxophone would be a really nice addition to the orchestra, along with the Euphonium, both have such a nice timbre, the soprano would blend so nicely with woodwinds, the oboe it's just too harsh.
wow you are incredible, well done... i´m starting playing the soprano sax and i would like to play this sonata, may you sent me the sheet music? saludos, de Guatemala
And the soprano isn't that bad of a choice, I often found it sounds close to an oboe depending on the register ! The japanese saxophone orchestra "Mi-bemol" did a wonderful interpration of Dvorak's 9th and it sounds sooo sweet. /watch?v=4FiaRL1Kdnc
It's not quite enough for me to get my classical chops going again but good piece on soprano! Much better than clarinet or oboe. The sop seems to have a life all of it's own. On clarinet or oboe, you expect fast passages to sound- every note same. This soprano has more presence and much better sounding than violin. I rather prefer this soprano sound than any other.... Tom Kipfer
Hey! I really enjoy this. I play soprano myself. And i was really thinking. Why don’t orchestra’s use soprano saxophones. The sound is close to that of an oboe. But brighter and more piercing. I really see this having a place in the orchestra.
Sax timbre is a little bright for this style of music for my taste, but sensitive playing with good control. The accompanist is also excellent. You guys are way too harsh.
i didn't say it WAS an oboe or LIKE an oboe. I said it sound pretty similar, VIRTUALLY (understand the meaning of the word? ) like an oboe. Being different instruments they will have obvious differences. and my comment is more music-loving than yours, i was linking them. you are being a zealot.

Played this song my senior year for contest!!! Loved it but it took me forever to get the fingering down especially on the runs!! Great song!
This was recorded on a mobile phone from the back of a hall.
Parabéns pelo Show! Excelente artista!!

May I ask what transcription you were using? I like it.
Enjoyed watching this!!!
Was anyone else thinking her legs are really long

This is a beautiful sound!
What mouthpiece were you using in this video?
Very brave trying to play this song, keep practicing!
Everyone who posts negative comments please upload one of your selfs. This is a very difficult sax to play. I thought it was wonderful
KGSax Yes, and she makes it look easy, most would be looking like a blow fish she has great breathing control.
Samuel Fields A+
KGSax w nice playing..keep going!!
Very nice dear. Keep up the good show
next step would be to change the pianist

un peu canardeux
Nice piece, but a hard tone, and unfortunately a little flat.
it's virtually an oboe
May be thick reed is better
Too slow. Sounds like an oboe.
The intonation is a bit shakey and the sound? hmmmmm.
I play soprano and alto sax myself. But this gal has great legs!!
its a joke, no?
