- People very rarely talk about Borderlands The Pre-Sequel. This game did so many different things right, but it is still lacking quite a few modern day features that fans have come to love from the Borderlands franchise. In this video, we talk about the good, the bad, and the UGLY of Borderlands: the Pre-Sequel

it really says something that unlike the other games my ONLY complaint is that there’s not enough of it
I love the Pre Sequel ..with the Grinder ..Playing as Claptrap...Laser weapons and the oxygen mechanic....and a fun story ...just a pity it lacked endgame..
The grinder freaking sucks
If the intro wasn’t so slow it would be so much more widely recognized… once you get past it it’s fun
It seems small, but one of my favorite features of TPS, that I'm shocked never came back, was the Sell Non-Favorite button at vending machines. It's such an enormous time saver to not have to mark everything I don't want as junk, and instead, mark only what I want to keep.
isn’t that in bl2? you can sell everything marked “trash.”
@abraham3673 In BL2 and BL3, you can sell everything marked as trash with one button. In TPS, you can sell everything that isn't marked as favorite with one button. That's a much better and more efficient way to do this. Say you spend some time farming, and you don't find anything you like. You can literally sell everything in your backpack in one button press instead of taking the time to mark everything as trash.
If it would have had a full DLC cycle with support and dedicated drops, it would be the best BL game
The balancing was much better than 2 or 3, but the lack of dedicated drops made leveling rough and tedious at times.
it is really a shame because i honestly enjoy tps more than bl2. i wish it got the same support and love that bl2 got. i understand the problems at launch gave it a bad first impression for most people, but the skill trees, balancing, more varied movement and useful items, fun gimmicks, the way your characters actually interact with others instead of being silent, etc make tps a much more interesting game to me than bl2..
it’s interesting that i feel like so many of these issues could easily be resolved be resolved if
1. grinders were regularly distributed around the maps just like vending machines
2. the amount of slots added when upgrading backpack storage is larger, this game incentivizes hoarding items more than the previous two
3. grinder recipes easily accessible and visible in the game
4. the moonstone cap being higher (or even non existent, preferably)
also, claptastic voyage is easily one of the best DLC campaigns i’ve ever played out of any game, ever. makes an already fun game into an excellent game that i’ll never forget.
Playing as Claptrap in The Pre-Sequel is a peak Borderlands experience because of sheer absurdity of his action skill. The only issue is that one of his skill trees is pretty much useless if you're not playing co-op.
As a player who completes all side missions to get the most out of the game, I didn't find any problems with the level pacing. On the other hand, at the end of Borderlands 3, I was way too OP. Missions 17 to 20 are designed for level 35 whilst I was already at 40. I faced no real challenge defeating any boss since I was always 5 levels ahead
TPS is genuinely the funniest game in the series, not even just the dialogue but stuff like mission text when you accept and turn them in and mission item descriptions. They were on a roll from start to finish with the humor here.
YOU'RE WRONG. THERE IS NOTHING BAD ABOUT THE PEAK-SEQUEL EXCEPT FOR ALL THE STUFF THATS WRONG WITH UT BUT IF YOU IGNORE THAT ITS A PERFECT GAME.
Average BL2 enjoyer...
He bitches about the maps, like wtf?! It's the moon, ofc they're similar in appearance bc you know, it's a moon ffs!! He even says he gets that it's a moon yet still complains.
Iirc, the horizons are unique to most maps and beautiful in some, but I guess thats not worth mentioning.
And omg, oxygen is always a few meters away. Only a non attentive scrub suffocates on Elpis!
The drop chances and the fact that some are locked to world drops made me realise, I don't have a memory of ever getting a world drop in TPS throughout multiple playthroughs
I got a few during my current playthrough, but they're pretty common
Yaaaaayyy a pre sequel video 😍
I still love revisiting this game from time to time. The story has moments of genuine greatness, from Felicity to Claptrap... plus I find myself trying to Oz-jump in the BL3 Skywell 😂
Dude. Every time
im a borderlands fan but have never played wonderlands so a vid like this would be amazing
Loved this style of video broski
Because P-S is the best and we all agree with that .
Tha bad should be changed to "the Mordecai" How can u miss this chance, man.
You mean the ugly?
@@claudiakann2851did you play borderlands 2?
@@verpsa1295 He's right tho. The mission is called "The Good, The Bad, and The Mordecai"
The Pre-Sequel is a good game but I can't believe Gearbox went backwards on the Dedicated Drop with The Grinder. However it was redeemed with the Claptrap DLC which he is my favorite character and probably has one of the most epic final boss fights in the series so far!
I feel if the game had the 4 dlcs instead of the 1 it’d have been received better but it wouldn’t make sense to be honest unless they made it the last dlc to come out. Knowing the direction they went with bl3 and elpis. It was such a missed opportunity to add lore to the place and more locations. It’s the same as bl2 we’re to believe there’s only a handful of places with sane people who don’t instantly try to put you down on sight. I prefer it to bl2 because it went for more of a story than a looter shooter but a lot of the loot that was there was just underwhelming. If the game was given another couple years of development and made for the ps4 and Xbox one instead of ps3 and 360 we could’ve got a much better game.
4 DLCs here would've been phenomenal
I'd love to see more of this for each game
I really wish the Pre-Sequel got more content and proper dedicated drops. It's my favorite borderlands game and I'm still mad that it was ignored by Gearbox
You could also use eridium to play slots in BL2 (Torgue DLC bar), or activate powerups in Tiny Tina DLC
5:15 Eridium can also be spent at Moxxi's slot machines in Flamerock Refuge.
If they hadn't killed 2K AU, TPS would probably be widely regarded as best-in-franchise. They were making a lot of good changes over time, if we'd gotten 2-4 years of Presequel being actively worked on as the "current Borderlands game," I truly think it would have been one for the recordbooks.
Yes, I’d love your reviews for the other Borderlands. Pre Sequel was the last game I enjoyed before my old Xbox died. Despite the short story, weird XP pacing, and bad glitches/launch issues, I had a jolly great time with it (I also enjoyed the removal of Slag and fast enemy health regen). I wish I got to finish my 4 playthroughs, but I enjoyed the time it gave me. Heh heh, IRL I could use a 0z kit for my dusty job.
Hel yeah, brother.
Pickle doesn't make the game objectively worse in the same way that shit doesn't taste objectively bad, this game's entire sense of humor whittled my patience down so quickly that I had to turn dialogue off by the second playthrough. I also feel like Jack's transition towards villainy was handled rather sloppily, at the beginning of the game he's shown to be not outright selfish and having a moral compass, but the second he kills the merrif he goes "Wow, that felt good, I really like murder!" barely even a sentence of justifying his actions as necessary for his survival or about how the merrif was actually a bad guy so it was okay or any of the narcissistic traits that he displays in BL2. I do really wish that the grinder was kept and further experimented with and improved upon in the future games, even just the ability to put 3 of a bad roll of a legendary to have a chance of getting a better roll is nice, but a system where we could kitbash two of the same legendary or unique together to transfer parts would be nice, like a system where you could take the double shot attachment off of a DPUH and put it on an unkempt harold that has a torgue grip and your preferred sight would be so awesome.
I’m sorry but your issues with the maps are simply a skill issue. Do you really think Stanton’s Liver looks anything like Vorago Solitude?
Edit: lmao speaking of skill issues, how are you running out of oxygen ever? With all the air vents and cannisters that drop from every enemy, it’s much easier to run out of *ammo* than it is for o2.
In my opinion, the preseaqual has the best written story out of the borderlands series
This was, by far, a well written tragedy
Even the claptastic voyage dlc is very well written
I actually really like this game
It's a fine game. Just overall lacking in content
My nitpick is the game been very slow and bad level design but the characters are fun to play
Tbh, i was expecting a more slanderous attack of the game's shortcomings & design choices. I'm happy to be somewhat disappointed.
Your criticism of Oxygen is a bit overstated, as it's never more than a few meters away. Frankly, only scrubs are capable of suffocating on Elpis' surface! Two words: situational awareness.
Why no mention of jump pads capable of launching one across the map (not just for travel but into hotspots - surprise, b*tches!) or the opportunities presented for 3-dimensional combat, such as mid-fight low-grav jumps to rooftops, atop rocks or to take on an airborne foe?
TPS players whose feet remain on the ground, whether traveling or fighting, are doing it wrong.
That said, as an unabashed TPS superfan, I approve of your review --- mostly.
Umm, the good, the bad, and the Mordecai, thank you very much.
A lot of people I know hated TPS because of its poor humour.
I loved the Aussie humour! It's probably some of the best in the Borderlands franchise so far (in my opinion). Does help that I am a Kiwi... but I still highly enjoy playing TPS again from time to time.
Yes, more of other bl videos plz. This was a great lunchtime watch
Do with 3 plss
BL3 maps ,except challenges( echos etc) for me felt way way way more empty.
Love TPS, but pretty much agree. I just used gib in uvhm and skip to to max lvl
I loved the pre sequel :D it wasnt perfect at all, but i had a blast. Plus, laser weapons and also Claptastic voyage, still love 1+2 better but i loved TPS
i saw BLPS kind of as a beta / test version for BL3
Only true sigma chads know this game is actually peak
Make more all games
I have played more times the pre sequel than B2, I really really whish seriously having more legendaries, the game feels the oposite of B3 legenday system and OMG the grinder, I whish I could just put the weapons and that it gives me a better one, dont take the level of the weapon in count. I gave you 3 legendaries why are you giving me a purple back?
Borderlands the presequel is borderlands 2.5 - 1
I never use the grinder, easier way to get legendaries like the Flayer/Luck Cannon
Tip: Just H source farm similar to Moonshot farming the Warrior. Rinse and repeat.
Please pin
Ok you may be Canadian but do you really have to CONSTANTLY be one?
@potatopotawto1412 hey man, I don't make the rules ¯\_(ツ)_/
Regarding the DLC and its quality. I hate the General Knox DLC to the core. Like, yeah, they did a lot of work there, added a lot, and the storyline is not bad, but.. cosplaying a truck driver for a few hours in the Borderlands world..? That's the worst. I don't care how much effort they put into this DLC, but it plays disgustingly easy. Thanks to the game designer and level designer - these guys just killed the work of the rest of the team.
And the same with the DLC for the pre-sequel: the map and locations are super disgusting, like, no, they are beautiful and interesting, but it is disgusting to move around them. Small tiny arenas with enemies, and then again going somewhere-running, flying in these data streams.. cool, but it plays disgustingly. Only for the pre-sequel this is a problem not only in the DLC, the level design and the placement of enemies in the entire game are a pitiful sight. The level designer didn't do his job. The world looks super empty, and that's a problem because the feeling of flow from the gameplay itself and farming enemies is very much lost.
I don’t know how I finished this game when it came out. I can’t get past the first 3-4 hrs it’s way to boring and way to much fetching with no real action. All the characters seem unnecessarily doofy
I really don't like this game that's just my opinion
Borderlands 3 is the best borderlands game. I dont care what anyone else says
I agree, but I still think it's worth looking back at older games
