I agree. In majority of the first game,his mental state was basically fine but in the second game,the dude was probably too busy mentally kicking himself to focus.
Peter was nerfed SO hard in Spider-Man 2, in the first game he took on 5 of the Sinister 6 and only lost because Scorpion stabbed him in his side, then went on to beat them by himself (Granted they were only in pairs) while having 14 broken bones, then gets beaten down by Doc Ock and ends up making a high tech suit and beating him the very same night.
Then in Miles Morales he loses to Rhino and almost dies, then in Spider-Man 2 he DOES die to a knife stabbing him and gets pinned on the ground by a fridge
Edit: I do now realize that Peter's powers are related to his mental health and he's not as strong due to May's death, but even if it has a story reason he's still nerfed

People don’t understand anything about this character and it’s sad.
Physical strength - in Spider-Man 1, the game literally opens with him leaving his apartment. He literally sleeps multiple times during the game and is presumably always going to work for some short time and continuing. But Peter before the game began in spiderman 2 is stated to have planned an entire semester after losing his aunt and his friend. Which would put stress on him for literally planing 2 months of work and have him contemplate being Spider-Man as his aunt had to die so that the city would survive. Peter is basically unrested as he sleeps one time in a much stronger challenge. Another thing is that the symbiote makes him feel stronger by making him not hold back as much and feeds them lies about being weak to maintain survival which makes him weaker. It’s the same way that Peter B can gain weight when Spider-Man naturally has a higher metabolism.

The refrigerator is made of metal, which would hurt to just fall into. Peter didn’t doge venom because he was caught off guard by MJ jumping in the way. He was hit really hard into the refrigerator. If you actually pay attention. Before you enter the final mission, you can see the wall is completely destroyed in the area. Which means he hit a HARD surface so hard it destroyed a wall, and whilst getting up is crushed by the same surface. He literally throws the refrigerator off after 3 seconds of the wind being knocked out of him. He couldn’t breath momentarily because of a major injury sending air out your lungs temporarily. he was stunned for three seconds and tossed the fridge away. Not to mention, this was him after going from
Waking up after his body was being using-> fighting miles-> fighting the symbiote with miles->being knocked out by venom-> being attacked by symbiotes -> making a literal sound weapon -> the fight.

I disagree. For strength in msm 1 peter literally stopped a crane from falling which weighed around 300tons. He also lifted a truck which weighed around 30 tons. Peter in msm2 is 25 so he should be in his prime.For durability we are talking about raw durability without any fancy suits to protect peter. In msm1 peter tanked a lot of hits and still got up. For endurancepeter was stabbed by dock ock opposite to his heart and still managed to get up and beat doc ock while still holding back.

Spiderman 1 Peter is able to lift a falling full size oil tank truck quickly, stops a helicopter from lifting off without effort, and lift a crane that’s ~550,000+. The only real feat 2 has is the Ferris wheel.
Spider-Man 1 Peter, while having 14 broken bones, is able to take a hit that’s ~15,000,000,000 joules and recover in seconds, and more in comics.
1 Peter is stated and shown to knock out and take down rhino, who is able to destroy and be scaled to small city+, time and time again *while* holding back, and is relative to 616 Peter.
1 Peter’s spider sense is shown and stated to be god tier, 2’s is so trash it might as well not be there.
It’s obvious that Spider-Man 2 would win in a fight as they’re the same person, but it’s just as obvious he was nerfed for the sake of writing and plot. That and the fact that he was so mentally unstable.

I get that they were trying to make it like the loss of May was getting to him.
But When Spider-Man loses someone like that, he doesn’t become weaker.
He Stop holding back.
And that would’ve been so much more interesting to explore with the Symbiot story.
Because originally the alien never made Spider-Man angry or more powerful.
Simply exposed what was already there.
This game should’ve featured a Spider-Man that didn’t pull his punches.
And Miles could’ve acted as someone to help him find Balance in his rage again .

When you specifically want to showcase the power of one, typically that means the other one will suffer or be overshadowed

And I hope that Insomniac doesn't kill him off in the third game and actually have him marry MJ and have a kid.
