The Cult’s best album in my opinion is Electric. Stripped down, no BS, solid tunes!! Also, thanks for the heads up on General Surgery and Petrification!! Good stuff!!
Necrotic Nick- Not problem on Petrification and General Surgery. That Petrification is just solid OSDM and I'm a sucker for most Carcass worship bands out there. Yeah, I definitely need more stuff from The Cult in my collection. I'm definitely going to keep an out for more of their stuff.
Necrotic Nick- Thanks, man! Zombi is amazing and I'd say they're very comparable to Goblin and I'm so glad I snagged that Fire in the Distance album finally. Time to find their debut when I get a chance.
Zombi was a genuine surprise. I dig 80s synth Rush quite a bit and this album has a lot of that feel. The triggered/drum pad toms have that Signals sound which is cool and not often heard these days. Also that thick Rush Moving Pictures bass rounds out the sound with the synths nicely.
Necrotic Nick- I love Zombi. I'm a sucker for old school synth and weird proggy music from the 70's and 80's and when I heard Escape Velocity years ago I was pretty much an instant fan. Tons of 80's Rush and Genesis vibes and even some Tangerine Dream in there as well. It's a sound that'll always appeal to me.
@@thrallsofmetal I ordered a copy of the album. That is when I noticed that Zombi has a ton more albums. I expected a few but not that many! Cool man, have a huge soft spot for 70/80s experimental/proggy music as well
Nice to see Fires in the Distance and Petrification, both amazing albums! I really like The Cult, but I'm unfamiliar with their post-2000 output. Two recent albums I recommend: the Last Retch EP, Ergotism, and the debut of irish sludge/groove band Ten Ton Slug, released today, Colossal Oppressor.
Necrotic Nick- Yeah, I heard a lot of hype for both Petrification and Fires in the Distance in the comments so I finally just snagged them. Yeah, I have Beyond Good and Evil and Choice of Weapon out of The Cult's more recent material but I I'm looking for more of their classic stuff now. Yeah, I need to snag that new Last Wretch. Their last album was since as hell. I'm not familiar with Ten Ton Slug but I'll check them out when I get a chance.
Good grief, Nicholas!!! I can finally stop banging on at you about that Fires In The Distance album, haha. This was in my top 5 albums out of 300 releases last year. 1 of very few I gave a 10. Loved their first album, but this was next level.
Necrotic Nick- LOL! Yeah, I know a lot of you been reminding me to check that one out. Finally got around to it and it was awesome. Pretty much on par with a lot of the stuff I love from My Dying Bride and Paradise Lost honestly. Definitely going to hunt down that debut at some point too.
The Cult are awesome. Sonic Temple is an awesome album too. Another "tweener" metal band. That's not metal but damn close. Not hair or glam at all. Straight up hard rocking, a great front man, and Eddie's Gretch has been blessed by angles. His tone is amazing.
Necrotic Nick- Agreed. I used to have Sonic Temple on a mix tape when I was teen but I lost it forever ago so when I saw this reissue of Love I was like "you know, I think it's time to get some more stuff from The Cult". I own some of the later stuff but I don't have any of the older albums now and since I want to keep doing the "Heavy but not Metal" thing this might be the time to start getting these albums.
Nick, I'm going to keep on mentioning this every time you make a collection update, but buy more Putrid Pile. Pleasure of Suffering, the debut, House of Dementia, or Blood Fetish are all bangin' albums.
Necrotic Nick- I plan on getting more of Putrid Piles stuff in the future. I might get lucky at MDF with the some of the venders there or possibly in all the record shops while I'm down in Florida later this year.
You still gotta check out The Way of Ancients by Volcandra! Another great recent release was Despondency Chord Progressions by Selbst. One man black metal project from South America. Really cool.
Necrotic Nick- It's getting difficult to keep up with all the new stuff this year. It's like every week is a tidal wave of new music but if I get some free time I'll check out both.
@@thrallsofmetal I hear you man. I write reviews for Metal Digest and it's impossible to keep up. It's allowed me to hear tons of stuff I wouldn't normally get to hear though and those two bands/albums are two of my favorites all year so far. Keep up the good work!
Yo Nick, you see the Cavalera bros are doing Schizophrenia?! The new take on Escape to the Void sounds awesome! I don't think it needed a new version as much as the last ones, but if Max wants to keep at it, I don't blame him! Looking forward to hearing the full album next month.
Necrotic Nick- Dude! I jammed that the second I heard about it. Wow! I love Schizophrenia but I've always had an issue with the production on that album much like I do with Bestial Devastation and Morbid Visions so I'm OK with this one. I don't want them to do any of the others though for the record. They can't outdo Beneath the Remains or Arise in my mind. They're pretty much perfect as is.
@@thrallsofmetal hell yes! The new version of Escape to the Void sounds sick! I can only imagine how the full album will sound. Max and Igor are absolute legends 🤘
Hello Nick, have you listened to Machiavellian God? is a Melodic Death Metal band from Bucharest (Romania), I've seen them live several times, they sound good. They have an album Divine Flaw released in 2019. The band is going to release the second album soon, on May 8 in Quantic Club, opening for Wolfheart. If you have time, give it a chance and try it :)
Love both albums from Fires In The Distance. Air Not Meant For Us was easily one of my favourites last year
Necrotic Nick- I still need to get a copy of the first one. I really dig this new one so there's a good chance I'll hunt that one down.
That Petrification album is really good, i knew you'd like that one lol
Necrotic Nick- Nothing but old school awesomeness on that album. I gonna need to pick up their debut at some point.
Oh hell yeah! Kreator, Testament, Possessed going on tour. September 16th in Seattle. 🤘
Necrotic Nick- I saw that! I might have to hit up the show in either Cleveland or Detroit.

Great collection update! That Zombi reminds me a lot of Goblin as well
I love that you got into Fires in the Distance from my home state
Fires in the distance is such a quality band
Necrotic Nick- Thanks, man! Zombi is amazing and I'd say they're very comparable to Goblin and I'm so glad I snagged that Fire in the Distance album finally. Time to find their debut when I get a chance.
I see the new Fires in the Distance from last year. That is a monster of an album
Necrotic Nick- Yeah, I was long overdue in terms of getting that one. Rin talked it up a ton when he told me about it and I get it. It's a banger.
@@thrallsofmetalfuck yes dude! It ended up making my Number 3 spot last year. Glad you checked it out.

By now, I think Nick has more CD than Amoeba
If you like Zombi, check out Steve Moore’s side projects/movie soundtracks.
Necrotic Nick- Honestly, I didn't know he had solo stuff but if it's anything like Zombi I'm totally down.
Wait, Nick bought more music?! Super gasp!

Thanks

Ian astbury called everyone at sonic temple 2019 a bunch of brainless pigs who didn’t understand melody and then played American gothic it was sick
Necrotic Nick- Yeah, that sounds like something he'd say lol.
What’s the shirt you’re wearing?
Necrotic Nick- The band is called Coprolith. I got the shirt in a Metalhead Box awhile ago. Pretty nasty death metal from Canada.
